  1. Once the battles engaged at the end of the DS9 run, the effects were top notch. But the lead up scenes of the fleets moving into position prior to engaging were utter crap. They were simple c n' ps of about 3 ships making the same manoeuvre to give the impression of 50 or 60 in-shot. Very, very poor. Overall, I dont like the battles at the end of DS9, except the Defiants parts. For me, the scene at the beginning of First Contact against the Borg cube was much better done; but then they probably had more time and a bigger budget.
  2. What illness ? He's a f**king alkie. As has already been said, its only going to end one way - the George Best way.
  3. Yep. Completely agree. I occasionally find myself dwelling on what happened to the poor little mite and if she is/was suffering, and then always feel exceptionally angry about how she was so badly let down by her parents, who have always come across as cold and calculating to me. However I've never cared for the attitude of the Portugese authorities to what happened, either.
  4. Almost certainly. However I dont see why we cant keep both. Bily was never given a proper chance at this level.
  5. Great post. I am proud to hail from Southampton, and, as I have said before, I view the area between Soton and Weymouth as the most beautiful area on the planet. I am proud of the history of the city (Spitfire, being the first area of the UK to come under gaze of the Luftwaffe, the human spirit and sacrifice of the Titanic crew, the worlds greatest football team, Benny Hill) As for the council, its swings and roundabouts. Without them, we wouldnt have a stadium due to Lowe trying to be a clever arse. On the other hand, every central Soton proposed development scheme turns into a party political farce.
  6. Maybe its simply lower down MPs transfer priority list.
  7. All sounds good stuff, despite the obvious paraphrasing going on.
  8. Imo the sun is setting on England being a world footballing power, much like it set on the Empire. OK, you could argue the EPL is still competitive (although last year represented our worse performance in the CL for many a year), but its full of foreign mercenaries. The FA havent got the balls to roll back the years and change course, and besides the PL and Sky will stop them if they try. Years and years of exploiting the game for money, down to playing the same out-of-form players at national level for merchandising and brand reasons, is taking a heavy toll. There is not the innovation and fresh rock-the-boat thinking in the English game to change things. Hodgson and Brooking are dinosaurs. We might scrape into Brazil 2014, but we will be ritually humilliated. I suspect more of the same, if we even get there, in 2016. After that the future is REALLY bleak. To me, the watershed was reached when it was clear that the English populace didnt give a flying f**k about Euro 2012 and/or were under no illusions about our ability to win it. The newspapers were remarkably low-key, for the first time, ever.
  9. If were heading back too the UK this summer, I would be looking for somewhere nice between Dorset and Hampshire. This suggests the New Forest. Failing that, Devon, Somerset or Wiltshire. Rest of UK disinterests me at the moment.
  10. I'd rather he spoke Spanish and announced a signing, than spoke English and waffled unimportant boolocks.
  11. "Tello, I love you wont you tell me your name?" *gets coat*
  12. Delighted. Thanks.
  13. Superb excuse-making lads; well done.
  14. Well I am sure. No-one is that bonkers to fly this as a serious suggestion.
  15. Yes because Saints didnt lose their concentration at all last season, leading to dropped points, did they ? Oh....
  16. As if NC will support a link to past glories. Get real, MLG. Its not just the money (we can probably raise it between us), its the issue of putting it in the trophy cabinet. Is Rodruiges' medal even still in there ?
  17. Thats fair enough, as long as the club is following contemporary thinking. My comment was more a metaphor for ensuring the club is doing all it can to ensure a high level (not necessary peak) level of fitness for seasons start to ensure competitiveness over 90mins, which seems to be something we historically arent very good at - except under Strachan. Under WGS, we often came back into games at the end as the opponents tired, the complete opposite of what tends to happen now. I wasnt a big believer in all this, until I watched my son play U16 as a fill-in last season (he is only 12 and qualified for U14). His team were excellent in the first half, but in the second they tired, lost concentration, and lost the game. I remember one game it was 0-0 at half time and 7-0 at the end.
  18. Ooo er, missus....
  19. We have a major problem, imo. Katherine Liebherr and family did their bit, and after being bulled in an unedifying manner via the media, have opened their cheque book. I cannot for the life of me imagine MP has not been forthcoming with a list of proposed positions to strengthen and appropriate targets. We have been linked with players and I cannot imagine no activity is going on (whether it has been productive is a point for discussion). We know Wanayama is more than rumour and conjecture. But nothing is being closed. I am really concerned. We should applaud NCs rumoured allergy to agents fees; not only is it the moral high ground, but he is demonstrating a committment to get Katherine Liebherr value-for-money which in a way is repaying her agreeement to provide support. But (and its a biggie), if we miss capturing the players to keep us up for the sake of a few 100K, it is a false economy which will bite us on the arse if we should be relegated. Is NC being too bloody-minded ?
  20. Thanks for proving yet again that if you dare to take a dissenting viewpoint, the responses are either abuse or utterly moronic.
  21. Nope, Forren was last man in, and the only transfer to interrupt that sequence of 3 strange transfers in my recollection was Boruc.
  22. Our transfer activity is a complete shambles. Yes, we've picked up the likes of SRL, but that was now several years ago. Our more recent activity - Mayuka, Ramirez, Forren - is looking less than impressive.
  23. According to MP, we're all done. Happy with our business, are you ?
  24. What a truly toss transfer window this is turning into. Cardiff showing more hunger than us. Lets face it, a dead anorexic vegertarian shows more hunger than us...
  25. Of course not. I just would like to see them fit for the new season. I'd also give Gashton extra laps. It worked for Strachan.
