  1. The problem with your argument is that the shopping list you wrote is more-or-less identical to that being discussed by posters on here during the summer. So this "learning" theory seems a bit weak, tbh.
  2. Nothing he can do if the central defence ahead of him is dodgy.
  3. I keep reading about people hoping we are still in touch by January next year, when the window opens again, so we can crack on and ensure PL football next year. What is the miracle or footballing epiphany that is going to occur to facilitate this ? Are we going to sign the players we should have in the 4 months of the summer in the space of 4 weeks ?
  4. What is this miracle scheduled to occur in January ? We are going to plug all the gaps in 4 weeks that we so conspicuously failed to manage in 4 months ?
  5. The squad is full of holes. And has no depth.
  6. I dont have stats to hand, but there does seem to be a worrying trend of training-related injuries occurring.
  7. Do I want him sacked ? No. Will he be sacked ? Probably.
  8. Why is it "balls" ? You dont think after spending 30m of the Liebherr's money, that NC is turning the screw for results ? You really dont have a clue about our CEO, it seems...
  9. Seems to me some questions need to be asked about our training regimen.
  10. And NC has a fortnight to bed-in a new manager (if it is going thru his head).
  11. Indeed, not exactly rocket science, is it ? To me, NA was so low on confidence he was trying to settle for 1-0 with 25mins to go. And his decision blew up in his face - again.
  12. Pleased for him that he is rediscovering his mojo.
  13. He's been given a 30m squad boost during the summer and isnt delivering. Not surprising he is feeling the pressure.
  14. WTF ? It was 2 points lost from the sort of HOME game we have to win if we are to survive.
  15. Poor result against a sh*te Fulham side. This is not working. Changes required.
  16. Agree with the sentiments in principle, especially the retroactive contraception issue; apparently there are women known to the NHS who have had 8+ abortions. But I am against banning them because they are a necessary evil for some cases, and because some women would go after back-street dangerous solutions anyway. However, 24 weeks limit is far too high. Medical advancements mean babies are now viable at 24 weeks. Limit needs dropping to 18 or 16 weeks. Describing babies as a blob of cells is appalingly cold; we were all such blobs at some point. I also hate the way the fate of innocent lives has become the battlefield for the PC and feminist movements. Abortion is murder - the premeditated termination of a life - whether some people like it or not.
  17. Just found the whole episode on YouTube. Pleasantly surprised by it. It was pretty good. Lets hope it keeps its form up over the next 5 episodes.
  18. This post is just so much rubbish. In my opinion he has been a disaster for England, in yours he hasnt. Impasse. Lets see if England qualify for Rio and how they perform when they get there to see who has proven right. I dont get why playing conservative is so bloody obvious in your mind. He was brought in at the last minute due to months of FA procrastination, there was absolutely no expectation, he was shielded from the fall-out of a poor tournament performance. We were never going to win it, the current crop of players have failed so many times and also would be long-in-the-tooth by Rio, he had NOTHING to lose. Another exercise about something being so obvious in your mind re Carroll. Why was he always going to ge the call up ? Because he played for a top 4 (maybe that should read top 15) club ? Its his sort of limited thinking (and yours) that holds the England team back. I havent got anything "horribly wrong" - I do find it hillarious when S-Clarke makes these statements when actually he is absolutely clueless; I especially enjoyed his sneering over the summer about stopping the bedwetting because our new defence MUST be on the way. Oh, and maybe if the England team selection was based on MERIT rather than club affiliation, it might get my support (and probably that of many others) back; I would have thought that point was dazzlingly obvious.
  19. It was indeed - borrowed far too much from Blade Runner and cheapened it. But according to the Guardian RDX looks good. Pity its back to just the 4 (no Holly).
  20. Hodgson has been a disaster for England. He could have gone to Ukraine with a vision for the future, based on the previous disaster that was SA 2010, screw the results, and built a competitive team from there. But no, he played it conservative and uninspiring and now we are stuck with the same faces for at least another 3 years, and Englands renaissance has been put back a generation. And I will NEVER forgive him siding with the racist c**t (who has now thrown his support back in his face in a pathetic cowardly Shearer-like attempt to blackmail the FA with his retirement). Holt is spot-on; how Carroll can slink back in based on a sub appearance past Rickie is quite unbelievable.
  21. Indeed it is, thanks. About to be shown on there. Unfortunately, I havent got time to go through all the rigmarole of getting a UK proxy and registering in time for the start. Suppose I'll have to wait until its out on DVD next month. Can someone post their impression if they watch it ? The Guardian review is quite favourable.
  22. 10mins to go.... Can anyone suggest a freebie feed that might work here in Austria ? Failing that, can anyone post a review of it if they are tuning in ?
  23. Well I for one am shocked that we need to borrow money; I thought we still had a nice thick financial cushion from Markus behind us. I am wondering if this was part of the reason why we spectacularly failed to reinforce the weakest part of the team - our defence - over the summer. NC clearly had his mind set on sexy attacking signings, and there was not much money left for defence so we either didnt bother and crossed our fingers the defence was up to it or we were tight-fisted in negotiations over defenders. Either way, it seems the party is over....
