He looks nothing like Wilson.

If we’re still in this league next year, it’ll be a shame not to have THB.
-
I’m guessing a back four, with Stephens at LB. It worked at the Hawthorns earlier in the year.

TBF that could still be kids these days.

Started well enough, good to have KB and MA back in the team.

I’ve just had a Jaffa Bar. I quite liked it.

I think Sky had to wait until after 9pm before being allowed to show Ashley Barnes.

I hope West Brom are this crap tomorrow.

That's the kind of never say die attitude that's sure to bring us glory. This is the same Leeds who had a chance to make the autos if they got a decent result against relegation threatened QPR but completely bottled it and got thumped 4-0.
-
No, he has a save percentage of 71% this season.
-
We’ll have a much better chance with him starting, even if he only lasts an hour and Stewart comes on after that. We’ve got potentially two one off cup finals ahead of us, we can’t be resting or saving anyone for anything.
-
I'm not sure we really have that luxury.
-
We've been playing every match on the furthest East wicket so far, I don't know if the others are being saved for the Blast or if it was tactical. Either way it looks like someone's going to need to have a 'mare with the bat for any kind of result. A bit of other mixed news today. Naveen wont be coming here, for personal reasons apparently but on the plus side Neser and Baker are in the squad for the first time this season.

I don't understand how anyone who's watched Alcaraz this season can say that. He's been largely substandard since an initial flurry of goals in the firsrt month he signed. He isn't three times the player Rothwell is either, if anything the latter is marginally better. Going back to the general point about younger players getting game time; they'll get it when they're good enough to at least look better than the liked of Sully and Mara. If they aren't doing that then they aren't ready yet and for many of them it's likely they never will be.

It’s not perfect but I’d much rather have it than not. People seem to have forgotten the regular, blatant dives players used to get away with when they weren’t even touched, amongst many other offences. Conceding a goal to a player who should have been sent off 30 minutes ago (aka the Carroll) was another popular one.
-
And with a different keeper who wasn’t so composed with the ball at his feet we’d have been much more susceptible to the press, have conceded more that way and would have started fewer attacks playing out from the back. If you’re going to criticise Baz for Ipswich, you have to take away our second goal which started from him playing it out quickly from the back.
-
He’s barely fit enough to play 20 minutes when he’s not injured and he isn’t getting any younger or fitter.
-
And do what? What is it you think he’s going to bring to the club?
-
You could have swapped McC with another West Brom striker for the first half chance, and he’d still have saved it. I mean literally, I don’t think it would have been physically possible to dive out of the way of it in time, before it clouted you in the nads. If you’re going to criticise Baz for the goals conceded at Ipswich and praise McC for this, I don’t know what to say. The second half effort was hardly top bins either, it was six inches from his right leg.

Okay, now I am sure you’re winding me up.

You can’t remember James Ward Prowse? However you want to dress it up, all those players have been given opportunities to play first team football at Southampton. Whether they were good enough to establish themselves as regulars is mainly down to their talent and application. Yes, you can say SAA was ‘ditched’ in August but you can’t say he wasn’t given an opportunity. If he’d looked ready he’d still be starting games now. You couldn’t have said that if he’d been at one of the big PL clubs. A question for you; who was the last player to play regular PL football who was ‘blocked’ at Saints? The best example I can think of is Reed, who’s done alright at Fulham but never really as good as the likes of Morgan or Romeu for us.
-
To put this thread in context, imagine Saints are defending deep in our own half about five years ago. We win the ball back and hoof it hard up the pitch. Shane Long is loitering around the halfway line, he sprints 50 yards to chase it down, leaves two defenders eating dust, collects the ball and then spoons it over the crossbar and into the car park. Saying Bazunu wouldn’t have made yesterday’s saves is like saying Charlie Austin would have scored the shot that Long missed.
-
You said it was a no brainer to go to Chelsea and that young players wouldn’t be given opportunities at Saints. That’s clearly not true, plenty of players have had an opportunity here who’d never have had one at a big PL team. Whether they came through our academy or someone else’s is irrelevant, we clearly offer a better opportunity for first team football.
