You're still missing the bigger picture. Getting involved with an active military intervention presents a huge number and severity of consequences with very little achieved in terms of real world gains. Russian air power is not the decisive factor in this conflict. It's clear now that Russia doesn't have the economy or the military power to do much other than attack Ukraine and possibly Moldova. As cruel as it is on the Ukrainians, who I greatly admire, I think we're relatively content to let Russia blow their load on this conflict. They're getting embarrassed in a war they should have won quickly and easily. They will struggle to commit more resources to this because they can't afford to replace most of it, meanwhile we can keep drip feeding Ukraine with sophisticated weapons which knock out their hardware. The end game, as I see it, is a prolonged, bloody stalemate and the erosion of Russia's reputation as any kind of superpower.

I wouldn’t be disappointed or surprised if JB and JS both left and were replaced by a new signing and Simeu in our first choice selection.

I think it’s fairly apparent now that he doesn’t have the capacity to attack any nato territory, the war in Ukraine will grind on until Russia has loose control over an unknown amount of land and urban areas. Russia aren’t going to be launching into some massive arms race, they’ve barely got the budget to maintain their current inventory. And you still haven’t said why China wants a military conflict with the west.

This is basically on the money. aint, your point is a non-sequitur. There's no appetite from anyone for a military conflict here, except Putin. A begging, desperate Russia, whilst also maintaining trade with the West and avoiding conflict, suits China just fine.

None of that has anything to do with what you just said; why would China want to launch a full scale military assault against NATO?

I didn’t mean that engineers turn up in random places and start digging up the track. I meant that it’s just bad luck that our trip to Brighton has been rearranged on a weekend with engineering works, as opposed to the weekend before or after when there weren’t any, on that particular route.

Firstly there's the needless loss of NATO lives in a conflict which isn't really anything to do with us, despite Putin's assertions. Secondly there's the massive logistical nightmare of having to defend a front from Estonia down to the Bosphorus. Thirdly there's threat of him lashing out at civilians in NATO countries. He could launch conventional weapons at populated areas or even shoot down a commercial airliner.
