I never get the logic of why people say that. In what way does it make the club look better if we try and fail to sign a bunch of players? I think it’s pretty clear we are after a forward although whether a suitable player if forthcoming and within our budget remains to be seen.

Players don’t care about stadiums and how ‘big’ a club is, they care about money and the chance to play in the premier league, which in turn leads to more money. I could see something like this happening.

What people are missing is that the use of five subs has fundamentally changed the game; the best XI players don’t necessarily start the game any more. Two years ago we lost this game, having been 2-0 up, because they were able to bring on Cavani whilst we brought on Shane Long.
