I think it’s a realisation setting in that they’re still nowhere the blue half or the Scousers and face another year in the shadows.
-
Hojbjerg is not the difference between 11th and relegation. We’ve strengthened in defence and missed out on our top midfield target because he went to the Italian Champions.
-
As if Zaha went down for that 😆 Wow, made up for it though.
-
Oh dear Luke.
-
Would it? I’ve really not seen enough to judge but he wasn’t getting in Bournemouth’s team at the back end of last season. Would he really improve us or has he just dined out on a handful of superb free kicks?
-
Everton will be the Leicester of last season. Riding the crest of a wave, all the ‘experts’ will tip them for a title challenge and Champions League football, only to fall by the wayside as their momentum falters after Christmas.

I think Scott would be a decent host of QoS and much better suited to that than something like GSS. It’s more of a bland, inoffensive family viewing show. A sort of Michael McIntyre of sports entertainment, without the ‘mates down the pub’ feel that Stelling and co. Used to have.
-
That would be Clyne who hasn’t played for a year and a half, Surman the unused sub for relegated Bournemouth and Dyer the unused sub for Championship Swansea.

Another peer reviewed study by medical professionals. 👍

Going back to your previous post, there’s nothing weird about any of it. We know we got through last season with a thin squad and the reasons for it. Nothing is going to change for at least the next couple of seasons until we cut the wage bill down and we will continue to try and survive in this league at minimal outlay.
-
I’m not really worried about the talent on the pitch, just how they’re playing as a team. This same 11 is capable of far, far better than they’ve displayed this season.
-
Well it was more interesting than this. Got the TDF on now, have some friends who live in Meribel.
-
Oh fudge. 🙄

I wouldn’t say badly. The Aussies are going to win this but it’s hardly a battering. Regretting that no-ball tough.
-
And they’re off! Come of Saints!

People often say this and it's a straw man. The criticism of his attitude is not that he's lazy but that he tries to show off and is a selfish player - Why beat a man, when you can beat him three times? He also has a tendency to down tools if he's not getting into a game, like in the Huddersfield cup match. Yes he got a decent assist - having just come on against a very tired, ten man Brighton - but these contributions are sporadic at best. Personally, I'd happily see Hoedt, Carrillo, Lemina, Boufal and Forster walk out on a free tomorrow and start again with a massively slimmed down wage bill. £2m would be a bonus.

This kind of stuff was fun in like, 2005 but I think you need some new material.
-
He’s not in Ralph’s plans, it’s basically this or he leaves on a free next year and there’s very little to replace anyway.
-
It is. He’s sh*te.

As I remember it, MoPe (not Puel) then started him for the next 4 games and he did absolutely naff all and got dropped again. That’s actually one of the few things I respected about MoPe, the fact that he was willing to put the good of the team ahead of his own ego and give Boufal a run, in spite of his celebration against West Brom.

There’s really no point in arguing with conspiracy theorists. To have that viewpoint in the first place you have to have ignored vast amounts of evidence and done huge mental gymnastics.

Saints v Brentford Carabao Cup Round 2 - build up
Lighthouse replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
It seems like our first 11 could do with a bit more sharpness and fluidity, rather than a rest. I’d give one of the reserve ‘keepers a go and maybe Djenepo in for Redmond to give him some game time. -
It depends really on how good we think Tella is. I know nothing about him but if he is able to replicate Boufal's standard 1 goal a season then we're really not losing out on much. I don't think he'd have made a difference yesterday, infact I can't remember him ever unlocking a stoic defence. Just crap ones like Watford and West Brom.
-
Interesting set of results. I’d be more concerned if I was a Fulham or Hammers fan, than a Saints fan, based on today’s showing. Leeds are a bit hard to judge. They were always going to be up for this but could have conceded 6.

I couldn’t see any of the game so can’t really offer much of an opinion but there really does seem to be a psychological issue with this squad. Consistently, truly abysmal home form for several years, then when we’ve got 9 dead rubbers in empty stadiums they all turn up. Now when there’s something to play for again, we put in another non-performance and half the team goes missing.
