I think crawling through 500 yards of sh*t smelling foulness is a great metaphor for this season.
-
F**k me, Diallo, I forgot he ever existed in a Saints shirt. Possibly the biggest non-entity footballer we've ever had, I literally can't remember one thing he did here.

Derby were worse than us. They weren’t even that good in the Championship, they just sh*thoused every team they played.

Burley scraped into sixth with three wins late in the season, then choked the playoffs to the worst team ever to be promoted. Last season was far better.

What situations can the fans accept with the new manager?

Never in a month of Sundays. We’ll do well to get 20. Agree A tall order I wouldn’t get your hopes up, this isn’t a squad full of goals. Depends entirely on the luck of the draw. We might nick a 1-0 but I can’t see how we’d ever manage a walloping. -
Sounds great. Now if we could just sell a few players we could make it even okayer ready for summer.
-
Slightly off topic but I can't for the life of me understand people betting on something as mundane as who the next manager of a football club is going to be.

I wouldn't say last season was one of my favourites ever but it was enjoyable and ultimately we achieved our objective. We were only a point behind what Adkins achieved and we started at the complete opposite end of the spectrum in terms of confidence and cohesion. After that difficult August and September we looked consistently decent and basically matched the three teams above us in terms of results.
-
Achievement is relative. Adkins took Scunthorpe to 15th in the Championship but he did a cracking job for us. I’m not saying Rohl is the right man and I’ve not seen enough of Wednesday to really have much of an opinion, but he has definitely moved them up in the world from when he took over.

A quick search of the word ‘hate’ yields 108 posts. I’m not going to trawl through all of them to see who is saying what but I’m fairly sure those posters weren’t saying ‘chateau’. That’s not even touching on the posts using the words ‘c*nt, pr*ck, d*ckhead’ etc. without actually using the word ‘hate’. He was hated by a lot of people. If you didn’t then fine, but don’t pretend everything said about him on here was nothing but fair and rational criticism. The stadium expansion debate revolves around the consistency of our attendances, their projected growth, the returns vs expenditure and the increased asset value we can expect from developing St Mary’s. You persistently and deliberately ignored all that because you wanted the argument to be about Martin and being in free fall. Now that he’s been sacked, years before a brick has even been laid, that whole argument looks a bit silly.
-
We didn't for the Man Utd game.
-
There's a solid page on the St Mary's expansion thread of you arguing with MLG and trying to make the whole discussion about how terrible Martin is. It's quite clearly hatred, or at the very least an intense and irrational dislike, for a fair number of fans. Some of the insults and nastiness on this thread go well beyond what is a reasonable way to talk about the manager of a football team, who in spite of everything actually wanted to be here and wanted to succeed. Compare that to someone like ABK, who people are clamouring to be in the team despite apparently being an absolute helmet with no desire to play for us at all.

I just want to scrape enough points to beat Derby's record. That's it really. -
A good window for me would be selling five players and bringing in nobody. That way we'd at least set ourselves up for next season, with a few off the wage bill and a bit of money stashed away or used to pay off debt. KWP can be one of them, sell him cheap now rather than let him go free in summer. It's not like he's done much.
-
Bit of a nothing game for us really but I suppose we've got to turn up at least. If we've got nothing better to do, please can we at least go with a basic 4-2-3-1 and not get embarrassed. McC KWP - THB - Bednarek - Manning/Taylor Aribo - Downes Armstrong - Dibling - Fernandes Archer Something like that
-
I think your last sentence is not far off the money. If Wednesday stand on their tiptoes and really stretch, they might just be able to tickle the b*llocks of the playoffs but they wouldn't be my bet for promotion. In summer, if he has two Championship clubs to choose from, you'd have to say we were the better bet for promotion.
-
Well, thanks for last season and Wembley Russ. I think the PL was a step beyond his ability as a manager but he did get us promoted at the first attempt, which is more than we could say about Redknapp or Burley. Hopefully we've got someone decent already lined up as 'interim periods' are never pleasant.

I guess we're about to find out. Going to be an interesting few days.

Israel's view of what's best for Israel is all about Israel. They don't care about me, you or pretty much anyone else in the world, other than the Americans who keep signing off on the military exports. My view isn't blinkered, I have never at any point tried to claim what Israel is doing is best for anyone other than themselves. Somebody claimed their actions we're in their own best interests, I disagree, I think they know exactly what they're doing.

It's not going to help either, if there's nobody half decent willing to replace him. By all means give GO'N a go but he's got to actually want to take on a basket case relegation certainty. Paying off Russ however million it's going to cost and then sticking the next Dodd/Gorman/Wigley/Kelvin/Selles in for the rest of the season isn't going to help matters.
-
I'm not the one being needlessly unpleasant to a stranger on the internet who supports the same football team. 🤷♂️
-
Two people above mentioned him specifically and until we appoint someone else it's him and/or Calderwood in charge. I'm not saying I want Martin to stay, I'm saying there's no point in binning him for the sake of it IF we don't actually have a replacement lined up.
-
I think some of you are overestimating Adam Lallana's management prowess just a tad. Five points is sh*t but it's nowhere near as embarassing as zero.
-
There's no point sacking him if we can't actually find someone decent to replace him. I'm hoping we can pull another Ralph out of somewhere in Europe but there're pretty long odds on that I fear.
