  1. How often do you have to replace the battery in an electric car compared to say, replacing the crude oil that powers a petrol/diesel car?
  2. You should try looking into what tiny, insignificant China is actually doing with renewable energy and electric cars. They’re going to absolutely leave the west behind over the next couple of decades.
  3. Watching Luton and West Brom, I still can’t understand why the game needs to stop because of a medical incident in the stands.
  4. BBD was a consistent goal scorer in the Championship. Armstrong was a consistent goal scorer in the Championship. Archer scored 4 goals in 29 games last season, he’s halfway there after 9 games. Onuachu has never scored in the Premier League. I cannot for the life of me understand why people are so determined to pretend this isn’t a thing. There is a reason Real Madrid never signed Rasiak, Akinbiyi, Altidore and Rob Earnshaw, even though they have all, "done it consistently."
  5. All of which is lovely but I was responding to a post saying this is the worst, most boring Saints team they’ve ever seen and we aren’t even trying to win or score goals. The PL being harder to score in is hardly a revelation but it’s a very strange twist of logic to suggest we don’t actually want to.
  6. It’s literally a post from some random bloke on Twitter, about as reliable as reading your tea leaves.
  7. Third top scorers in the Championship last season, 87 really boring goals, 2 behind Champions Leicester and 17 more than WBA in fifth. Obviously we’re struggling to transfer that into the PL but it’s not through lack of trying.
  8. Agree, there has been much worse football on display than this in the past. If anything the current season reminds me of Poortvliet’s tenure, trying to play decent and entertaining football but we just don’t have very good players. Worse recent eras than this include MoPe, Jones, Selles and Puel, post cup final, IMO.
  9. Well it’s at home at least, should be a decent atmosphere.
  10. SAA didn’t look ready at Championship level, we need players who can do a job now, in the PL. That’s not Cornet on recent showing but I’d rather have him in the squad than Sam.
  11. Watched their game against Fulham and they were absolute garbage, so fingers crossed for more of the same.
  12. Villa and Chelsea going out is a nice plus. Assume City will turn this around at some point but it’d be a nice bonus to see them go out too.
  13. We did go direct, playing it into the box for him a couple of times. They weren’t quite direct from Ramsdale’s boot and they resulted in a foul on their keeper and then a throw in to Stoke but baby steps and all that.
  14. All seems sensible so far, hopefully it doesn’t affect the drop in inflation too badly.
  15. He’s had a few moments Bazunu would have been crucified for; Leicester’s winner, Man City’s goal, Bournemouth’s third, last nights error that lead to the goal line clearance. I think playing for us after Arsenal has just knocked his confidence a bit, hopefully it’s just a temporary blip and he finds his mojo soon.
  16. We’re in the QF having scored nine goals in three games and won a shootout at Goodison. If that’s ‘fucking useless’ I can’t wait to see what ‘average’ looks like under the next manager.
  17. Strange. Half an hour ago when I said we were playing well, everyone was laughing at me and saying the score was the only stat that mattered. Now we’ve won, suddenly it’s, "yeah but apart from the score, what was good about it?" TBH I don’t know what the datum is for Saints any more, but I’ll take winning a cup tie and scoring three goals any season.
  18. Koeman went out of the cup at League 1 Sheffield Utd. Strachan needed an injury time equaliser at home to Millwall in round four to reach the 2003 final. Puel got to Wembley with an absolute dredge of a performance against Palace, saved by one moment of brilliance by Boufal. Poch went out against Sunderland with everyone fuming that he’d rested players. If you think we’re entitled to a default 5-0 performance in any cup tie, I don’t know which club you’ve been supporting up until now.
  19. We won a cup tie, scored three goals and could have had a couple more with better finishing. If you can’t enjoy that, you’re going to be severely disappointed when Russ gets sacked (and he will eventually) and quelle surprise, these players make the same mistakes under the new manager. In other news, Brentford drew 1-1 at home to a Championship team with 70% possession, so we’ve had a much better night than them.
  20. Decent cup tie, when all’s said and done. Into the QFs we go.
  21. Decent finish that. Let’s hope we can concentrate better with this lead.
  22. We’re outplaying them by any metric you can muster. All the play is in their half and if Armstrong, Suga and Les could do the simple things properly, we’d have been 3-0 up at half time.
  23. We’ve completely outplayed Stoke here, they’ve not had a sniff apart from two goals from individual howlers. So we’ll add them to the list, along with Smallbone, Bazunu, McCarthy, Wood, Fraser, Manning, Bree, Stephens, Diaz and Armstrong. We’re a bit short of decent options, all things considered.
  24. Do you think a different manager would be able to build a better game plan around the hapless performances of Les, Cornet and Suga?
  25. Suga…. I want to like you, I really, really do.
