Not really. The aircraft comes with a pitch limit indicator as standard, which would indicate if a stall attitude was being approached. All aircraft have sensors installed, it's just displayed differently and wouldn't have helped in this scenario.

Don't care what he says, he's still just an expensive, Norwegian Juanmi.

The accident you’re thinking of is often referred to as the ‘Sioux City accident’ and is a fantastic example of crew management and resourcefulness. In terms of mechanics and checklists, there aren’t any similarities with the max accidents but it was an interesting situation. It’s hard to fully understand what Boeing have engineered with this MCAS system but if it is making the aircraft pitch down and ignoring pitch inputs from the pilots, that’s a pretty big design flaw. Classic/NG pilots would be familiar with the trim runaway procedures but it sounds like the Max behaves differently and for different reasons.

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
Lighthouse replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Probably handing their corpses over to a rampant necrophiliac and broadcasting a video of him bumming them into next week, across the world. Sadly there's law's and stuff against that. My serious suggestion wont put people off committing atrocities but it might encourage them a bit less. If just one Manchester bomber or NZ gunman develops an indifference to his cause, it's worth doing. -

It’s only token if nobody else does it. If the rest of the world followed suit, it’d work. -
Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
Lighthouse replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
The problem with that is that these people are so set in their beliefs that to ridicule them is to stiffen their resolve. Telling an Islamist or a neo-nazi he is an idiot and his beliefs are stupid only reinforces them. Look at the Brexit thread, both sides are getting more and more aggravated to the point that all arguments just end up polarised. The problem, or in this case benefit, of twitter and the ‘fake news’ generation is that anyone can post anything, almost un-moderated. All you need is a few hundred nutters tweeting, "his name was Abdul Risaq from Luton" and "actually he was Mohammad Al Qabar, a Yemeni refugee," and suddenly the truth is washed away in a sea of misinformation. Instead of being infamous to half of Europe, suddenly you’re just a rumour on an internet message board. It would be hugely disarming IMO. -
Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES

There’s a massive difference between having you name, picture and life story all over the pictures and being named by a few of the foil hat wearing nutters on Twitter. Besides, for every source correctly naming him, there will be 1000 more attention seeking weirdos coming up with their own names and theories. I guess you can’t ban people from naming names but it would be helpful if the media outlets agreed to it from a moral POV. We can still have the details, where they’re from, religious beliefs, cause, ethnicity etc. - Information which is of genuine public interest, without publishing anything personal. -
Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES

Great to see Ardern refusing to name the attacker in NZ. I’ve long believed we, the press especially, should take a similar stance with terrorist attacks and keep the perpetrators anonymous. -
2 strikers and at least 1 AM, with Long, Austin, Gallagher and Moi all to leave IMO.
-
Surely we could do something other than lose against Cardiff given a third attempt. Mind you, this is Saints so we'd probably end up losing 3-0 and making the GD worse.
-
Soft? It was as blatant as you will see, he literally just grabbed Mané around the waist.
-
£60m for a player with a year left on his contract? He'd have gone for about £20m, regardless of his performances.
-
I think it's daft that our U-23 compete in that, should just be left to L1/2 teams.

Manolo Gabbiadini: Joins Sampdoria - Official
Lighthouse replied to Portugalsaint's topic in The Saints
Up to you whether you want to discuss him or not, just pointing out that we currently have 5 strikers who have scored a combined 0.5 goals in 3 months. If he had stayed here and scored 3 goals it would be something. -

TBF, aside from Long's borderline o.g. none of our strikers have scored since Christmas. -
I'd quite like to see Leeds, Sheff U and Norwich come up. Have a feeling Leeds will end up in the playoffs and f**k it up, with WBA coming up instead.

Are you this needlessly rude and patronising to everyone you meet in real life?
-
And winters.
-
Looks like standard Boufal - losing, need a goal, first attacking player to be taken off.
-
You do know that playing the same number of games spread out more is not playing fewer matches? 38 games; More games in summer, fewer in winter. I’m saying scrap the LC or make it an U23 competition because it’s largely pointless anyway. A bunch of our reserves and kids beat a couple of other clubs reserves, then get dumped out in some sh*tty non-performance against Sheffs Weds or Bristol City.
-
No idea why you’ve invented this notion that I want fewer games. “Fingers crossed”? Grow up a bit. One proper cup competition, which people can take more seriously with less fixture congestion and more rest for players. FWIW, I’d have a CL place for the winner and EL place for the runner up too, as more of an incentive. We could easily go 5 rounds and make it to the QF, how does that compare to this season? I make it 4 cup games plus one replay, all of which featured a sub standard mix of reserves and kids from both sides.

I find this odd. It's still 38 Premier League games and there is still room for a tournament. The number of fixtures doesn't really change, the only difference is the timing. Premier League First half - August - Jan 1st. Premier League Second half - Early Feb - Mid June Major tournament - July The way I see it, right now there is 3 months with no football, which I find far more tedious than having 1 month in January. Especially as myself (and I suspect many others) are often skint after Christmas.
-
Jesus effing wept. You must be overjoyed in May- Saints aren't playing YEESSSSSS And June YEEEESSSSSS Saints aren't playing again. YES YES YES
-
I’ve long believed there should be a winter break - everyone plays on NYD then nothing until the first weekend of Feb. Smaller squads get a rest after the busy Xmas period, fewer injuries and games in late May/June instead of sh*tty, blowy, freezing your t*ts off January games. I’d be in favour of scrapping the LC or making it an U23 competition. However, I’d also change the FA Cup so that everyone starts in round 1. 92 League clubs plus 36 non-League qualifiers, 7 rounds, if my maths is right.

Fair enough, I can’t remember the game in that much detail. I do remember the Lino being the target of his aggression but it was the ref who was pushed. It really wasn’t much worse than Barnes’ outburst for Burnley when the Lino didn’t give that first penalty.
