I'd have him over Ings next season, if it was a straight 50:50 choice, 100%.
-
He's 33 and very obviously has fitness issues. Even if he doesn't, saying he's fully fit, has two goals in two years and can't get in the team even after Antonio's car accident is hardly a ringing endorsement. He hasn't been a class above anything for years and if he hadn't been here before nobody would be advocating for his signature.

Ings has two goals in the last two years and isn't fit. Have you learned nothing from Lallana this season?
-
Well, that was dreadful but then Surrey do bat England internationals all the way through, then follow it up with the ball. We're going to need better players to make it to finals day in the next few years. Hopefully this is the last season of Wood and Howell, complete mediocrity. As much as I like Brevis and Pretorius, we need a top international bowler in there somewhere. Wood, Currie, Turner and the all-rounders just isn't scaring anyone. Bring back Nelly.

I'm so glad Trump came in and negotiated an end to all these wars, just like he promised.

I'm no psychologist but this could be the first ever documented case of schizophrenic procrastination. It can't be good for your self esteem if even your own split personality takes a solid ten months to bother responding.

Fair play, she shat herself much less than I'd have done.

Careful, that's actually illegal in Dubai.

Simon Gillett at a scuba diving centre in Sharm El Sheikh. What's the furthest away anyone has ever met a player? Doesn't count if you literally went there because Saints were on a pre-season tour or players on international duty.

Iran would be much more inclined to launch nuclear weapons at Israel than vice versa.
-
That's just mental gymnastics to avoid the fact that the Iranian leadership has a long history of brutal oppression of its own people which, although a conservative country, they don't have in Israel. The Iranian leadership has persistently gone to a lot of effort to kill as many Israeli civilians as possible, either through missile strikes or propping up other militia in the area? As awful as many of Israel's actions have been, I'd much rather see Iran's government topled.

Obviously details at the moment are thin and sketchy so we can only guess and speculate as to what happened. Watching the videos, my instinctive reaction is that it did take off with the flaps correctly set, at least initially. Compared to other accidents when aircraft have attempted to get airborne without them, it rotated and lifted off too well initially IMO. If anyone wants a decent video of what that would have looked like, I've attached a video of a very lucky aircraft just about getting airborne at Cardiff a few years ago. It would also require the take off configuration warning to be either inoperative or ignored, which is not that easily done. More plausible IMO would be a loss of power shortly after rotation, possibly due to something like fuel contamination. Another possibility is that the pilot flying called for gear up and the pilot not flying accidentally retracted the flaps instead. No evidence to suggest either so far but they would fall under Occam's razor, from watching those videos on X.

If I ran out of bog roll and the only paper in the house was a copy of the Sun, I'd go to the garage and get some sandpaper.

Totally agree. As good as RC was, he does get hyped up to god-like status by virtue of the the fact that he was Brazilian, played for Madrid and scored that free kick against France.

We should have appointed Dyche. You can't defeat Preston without a bit of help from Sean.

Day 1100 of 3 day SMO Advanced Russian fighter jet shot down inside Russian territory, by retro F16 the Dutch found in a shed, supported by AEWACS from country which wasn't part of NATO before the war. Operation 'It'll Buff Out' to repair minor scratches to TU-95 fleet still ongoing.

He's 30 with only a year left on his contract. I'd be happy to get any kind of fee for him, let alone €5m.

Off season fun - international tournament memories
Lighthouse replied to benjii's topic in The Saints
That tournament had one of the all time great Saints WC moments. -
Ketchup goes in a boiled egg. Fight me.

Onuachu plays the front line like he's towing a grand piano. Saints turning down £5m is a bit like when Newcastle turned down £30m for Andy Carroll. I can only imagine Spors sat in his office, laughing and saying, "holy sh*t they're actually calling back!"

Three absolute thumpings so far. NRR looking very healthy, if it comes down to that.

Going by players I've watched (France 98 was the first tournament I really remember following) Buffon Alves Cannavaro Maldini Cole Pirlo Xavi CR7 Iniesta Messi R9 Subs: Cech, Ramos, Cafu, Makalele, Modric, Kaka, Zidane, Del Pierro, Shevchenko

Good luck to him. He came, he gave it a go, it didn't work out, but with the players we've got I never expected it to. I wish him no ill.
-
Is it too much to hope that he'll head back up to Rangers? Martin seemed to rate him when both were here.

I'll blame autocorrect for that but yes, you get the idea.
