  1. £15m?! For a player who turns 30 next month, has little to his game other than pace and doesn't score? Behave, I'd take £6m.
  2. If he really was on of the best in the League, we'd have a bidding war between Champions League teams and he wouldn't be failing to get into Man Utd's match day 18. He was good but we haven't exactly struggled since he left. Romeu has played just as well in a different role. What you're suggesting is to spend millions, shatter our wage structure and change our formation just to accommodate one player. It's not a no risk signing, it's a huge risk. Large financial outlay, fundamental changes to how we play, other players in the squad unhappy and a player who wanted to leave 3 years ago, hasn't played regularly for nearly 2, on high wages. He was a very good player for us. Better in theory than our current options, except Romeu, but trying to get him back makes little sense.
  3. That's nothing, my mate Les once played darts every night for a full week. Unreal levels of athleticism.
  4. The going rate is a huge cost. £13m (it won't be that low but I'll humour the thread title) plus his substantial wages is a lot of money however you look at it. Money which could be much better used towards a goal scorer.
  5. Kind of like saying if you drive a Jaguar, you need to buy a Ferrari. He's better than what we have but he wouldn't make enough difference to justify the huge cost in transfer and wages. What we really need is a goal scorer as that is what has let us down so far.
  6. Probably more so. Are you as dim witted?
  7. We have enough midfielders here. Don't get your hopes up, he isn't coming.
  8. We won't be signing Morgan, I'd have said that much is fairly obvious. We have plenty of midfield options and Reed seems to be the preferred understudy to Romeu. There will hopefully be a striker in, probably on loan. That's probably all we will do.
  9. Quite a leap of imagination to assume he's off based on nothing more than the fact he respects Lovren. He can 'engineer' all he wants, Saints hold all the aces on this one. Unlike our other departures we would be quite content to let him see out the rest of his contract and leave on a Bosman. There's nothing he can do to force a move.
  10. Well, the implication was that we sign somebody better in his place. Long out, one in and another on loan to cover Austin's injury if need be.
  11. Yes, there seems to be a disproportionate number of attacks by Muslim. The idea that they've monopolised this is just wrong. How many American high school shootings have taken place in the last 15 years? By all means kill those responsible, bomb the sh*t out of Isis with drones or whatever else but the idea that Muslims should be banned from Europe over the actions of a few individuals is just wrong.
  12. Timothy McVeigh, Anders Breivik Anyone on this list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ETA_attacks Or this one... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bombings_during_the_Northern_Ireland_Troubles_and_peace_process Then there's always the Klan...
  13. I apologise. That sounded disrespectful to those killed and that wasn't my intention. I'm just annoyed at reading more comments (not necessarily here) that this is a 'Muslim problem' and what we get for allowing 'them' into our country.
  14. Now telling Sky it was a very good team performance, not sure that'll go down too well.
  15. More Europeans will be killed by drunk driving white Christians/atheists this week. I wonder if that will make international news.
  16. Unlucky Ron.
  17. We managed the second best defence in the Europa League without him, after Shalke, I believe. Only conceded 8 in the 12 games Yoshi has played in all comps. We've yet to concede more than 1 goal in a game Fonte was ABSENT from.
  18. I like Bournemouth and want them to do well. If I could chose the top 3, they'd be 3rd behind us and Burnley. As such I don't consider them a rival and beating them means less than any of the big teams, plus Everton.
  19. I've seen very little talent or ability from him TBH. Nothing beyond being a very average lower league 'keeper.
  20. I agree with that line up but I suspect it will be Redmond, not Tadic.
  21. None of what I've posted is stupid, you've just clearly failed to grasp any of it. The Rodriguez/Mané comparison was a simple observation and a reality check for everyone asking where we'd be if we still had Mané. All you've done there is back up my point by proving J Rod spent less time on the pitch. We need somebody to rotate with J Rod but it needn't necessarily be Long. I'd rather have someone good because I personally fail to see what Long offers other than running. We don't play a high tempo, chasing game so him running around on his own doesn't really do much.
  22. International is a bit of a loose term though isn't it. I think by some statistical comparisons, Stern John is the greatest international player of all time. All you're really saying is that he good enough to get into a squad with Kevin Doyle and Simon Cox. Also, what is form for Shane Long? In 5.5 years in the Prem he's only managed on average 7 goals a season. Even in the Championship he only managed double figures once. Rodriguez had been steadily improving right up until his injury and was a far better player than Long has ever been.
  23. For all the talk of goal scorers, Austin's injury and J Rod's fitness issues there is another elephant in the room. Long hasn't scored this season and aside from last year has never been much more than a 5 or 6 goal a year man. People say he's not 'that kind of player', whatever that means but I'm not really sure what he offers. Redmond, Boufal, J Rod and Sims all offer decent movement upfront. What we lack is a physical Lambert, Pelle, Beattie type of forward.
  24. We'd be mental to turn that down and they'd be mental to offer it.
  25. 9 for J Rod 17 for Mané
