  1. Trent is the Scouse Jermaine Wright. Got to get him in somewhere.
  2. Walker mugged him right off there.
  3. Farage is fully aware of climate change, as is pretty much everyone else. Most of the so-called deniers are just arguing a contrarian point for their own personal gains; either political lobbying from large industrial corporations or because it quite simply upsets the lefties and that’s what gives them a kick.
  4. That's a complete non-sequitur then. I think the vast majority of Saints fans will have a pragmatic view that next season is going to be a very tough fight against relegation. We're going to have to spend around £40m just to keep the squad that finished fourth in the Championship, let alone improve. That doesn't mean anyone is expecting a big-spending push for the European places, I haven't seen that suggested or even implied on here.
  5. Who's said that?
  6. You're right on the first bit, I misread his stats. Still, three league goals in 18 months is hardly impressive. The fact that he's more regularly used as a late sub isn't something you can just dismiss. There's a reason for it, in much the same way as people on here talk about how good Mara's goals to minutes ratio is actually impressive when actually he never starts because he's sh*te. Ing's can't get a start at West Ham, who are hardly world beaters, and can't knock Antonio out the team, who only brought home six goals himself last season. However you try and dress it up, he just hasn't done anything at West Ham and Villa were quite happy to offload him too.
  7. But he hasn’t and he can’t. His three best ever seasons scoring at this level are 22, 12 and 11 (the last one being ten years ago) they’re the only times he’s made double figures. His last four seasons he’s scored 7, 6, 2, 1. I don’t know why people are ignoring this and talking about him anomalies which happened five or six years ago.
  8. Their cause is narcissism, plain and simple. If you genuinely care about the environment, go to university. Study bioengineering, chemistry or electronics, then get a job with one of the big corporations you despise so much and develop a better biofuel, battery or solar cell. They won’t do that because it involves sustained, committed effort and you don’t get any attention for it, which is all this is really about.
  9. Chaplow and Cork but they were very young when they first came here and returned in their prime to give us several of the best years of their career. Generally I agree with the sentiment though, nobody would want the likes of Walcott, Lallana or Ings if they hadn’t played here before.
  10. The keeper 'having it covered' has no bearing on whether or not an o.g. is given. The original shot has to be off target, which McT's wasn't. What I do find irritating about the interpretation of this rule is incidents like the goal which denied Pelle a hat trick against Sunderland. The shot was clearly going in before it hit one of Liam Bridcutt's legs, then it bounced in off the other one and was given as an o.g. I would argue that had that player not touched the ball at all, the goal would have gone in, therefore it should have been Pelle's.
  11. That’s a very long way of saying he’s scored three league goals in two years.
  12. I disagree, I’ve always observed Sully perform at a very consistent standard since he joined us. Shame about that Liverpool game though.
  13. I can’t understand why people talk about Ings as if we’d be getting back the guy who scored 22 goals five years ago. That was a one off season, across his whole career his second best goal return is 12. For all the, "yeah buts," and the, "oh, well if only they’d played him XYZ," there’s no getting around the fact that his last four years have yielded a combined 16 league goals, at a steadily declining rate. He’s not a proven PL goal scorer, he’s a has been who only ever did it at this level once. I wouldn’t take him on a free, personally.
  14. If we released a selection of Saints branded underwear next season, would they be ‘Puma pants’?
  15. Mainoo and Palmer for TAA and Foden, IMO.
  16. England badly need another RB on the pitch.
  17. I’m not really convinced by this new persona. Pretending to be Kenyan was funnier.
  18. Still can’t for the life of me figure out what the point in this is, from our POV. Unless people at the club actually believe that ‘great lad to have in the dressing room’ bullsh*t which was such a resounding success with Walcott.
  19. We didn’t improve towards the end of the season.
  20. A couple of failed test launches does not mean our entire nuclear deterrent is unserviceable and even if it were, nobody is going to gamble on all of our 200+ warheads failing in a nuclear confrontation. I don't care how many delivery methods they have, they're not going to take that risk against another nuclear power. Not when, as has been pointed out, a large number of theirs are likely duds. Their military has been chronically underfunded for decades, especially when it comes to maintenance, in a world where the US claims to spend $1m per year, per warhead, simply on basic maintenance.
  21. Unless there was some other NATO country with over 200 nuclear weapons.
  22. If we give up our nuclear weapons, NATO security will still be assured. ... ... ... Just so long as the US doesn't elect a president who's basically Putin's puppet, with a massive boner for Russia, who has repeatedly talked about abandoning NATO because many countries aren't paying their share of the bill.
  23. I CBA with that nonsense. As for Israel - Hamas have a death wish, they want everyone to die.
  24. It matters to me, wanting to scrap trident is the absolute #1 hard no, in my book. I'll never vote for anyone who puts that in their manifesto.
  25. And I’d like to spend £0 on defence every year, not need a military at all and spend that whole budget on nurses for orphans with diseases. Sadly that’s not really a viable solution to the real worlds problems.
