It was only really Di Canio, who had some handbags with Clarke, Dan Harding and half our training staff at some point during the match. Everyone else was pretty well behaved.

I'd back up what most people have already stated. First half Swindon were dreadful and we made it look easy, without ever getting out of first gear. Second half they seemed to spark into life a little and we failed to raise our game. Far too casual passing the ball around at the back and Bart received a fair few back passes he really didn't want. The midfield looked good in the first half, Morgan and Cork worked well together and Holmes was very dangerous down the right. Lallana a bit quiet, but didn't do anything wrong. Guly and Forte up front just didn't work. Neither can hold the ball up at all, it was easy to see why Nigel brought Rickie on. Player ratings: Bart - 7 Dealt with what came at him. One excellent save at 2-1 and could do little about the goal. A few dodgy kicks, but the defence really didn't do him any favours at times. Richardson - 6 Generally steady, but was seldom troubled. Martin - 6 As above Seaborne - 6 As above Harding - 5 Gave away possesion cheaply at times. Holmes - 8 MOTM looked pretty good cutting in from the right. A couple of dodgy corners, but otherwise decent. Cork - 7 Looked very good first half, quiet second half. Morgan - 7 Classy on the ball, a bit sloppy second half. Had one excellent chance blocked. Lallana - 7 Quiet first half, seemed to liven up in the last 15 minutes. Dubious penalty shout towards the end. Guly - 5 Too casual. Effort just wasn't there. The goal was about all he did. Forte - 5 Without someone to hold up play going forward, he looked a bit lost. As with Guly, his goal was pretty much the only contribution. Subs: Lambert came on to help things stick up front and it definitely settled things a bit after they had scored. Very well taken goal. Don't think the other two subs got a touch.

Few thoughts from the ground. Swindon have been awful, generally our defence hasn't been tested much. Holmes looks very good down the right. Lallana a bit quiet, but the midfield is pretty good and keeping it well. Not so sure about Guly and Forte yet. Jury is out on that one.

I'd go with Bart Butters - Martin - Seaborne - Dickson Knight - Chaplow - Morgan - Holmes Forte - Lambert Assuming Barnard is still injured.

Will the Birmingham Home Game now be on Sunday 18th Sept?
Lighthouse replied to Ooooo Mariaaan's topic in The Saints
Just seen the draw, Stoke have trips to Turkey, Ukraine and Israel. Ouch. Anyone know when the fixtures for the group stage are released? -
Would explain why Scottish football is sh*te.

It's probably because all the thick girls get pregnant and drop out of school, thereby only leaving the clever sticks in school to achieve good grades. Or, men are fick, innit!

I really hope it is moved to Sunday personally. Will have to drive down the M4 like Jenson Button to get there on the Saturday, even with a late KO. -
He would have been an excellent player for us in different circumstances, but fate just seemed to transpire against him. There was always something stopping him from delivering his best and it really wan't his fault. The first couple of months he was unfit, having been frozen out by Romanov and being unable to sign for Saints. Then he picked up a knock, then Burley dropped him, then Burley decided to play him at LB. I think his partnership with Bale was one of the best aspects of our playoff season. Bale got forward well to support and Skacel tracked back and covered him when he did. I remember one game, at home to Sunderland when Belmadi played on the left in front of Bale. The pair of them got Mullered. Went to Staplewood once to watch the squad train, back in the Poortaloo days. Met Rudi briefly, seem a very friendly and approachable chap. Good luck to him.

This is the internet. I'd say it's more than likely.

Nothing is too random to be made up. You just need a certain level of boredom. That's how we ended up with threads about Carsten Janker and Jan Koller. Funny, but completely made up.

Nobody buys players for the League Cup. He wont play, but that's mainly because he has burned his bridges with most of the higher order.

If we're going to sign a Belarus international, I'd rather it was Igor Sh*tov so I can get his name printed on a shirt.

I make that three seasons in a row we've had a ride on the magic roundabout in the first month. Back to the Merlin?

Well, I've already been to Swindon twice, seen us get beaten and be completely sh*t on both occasions and I live 5 minutes from Ashton gate. Guess that was always going to happen Anyway, £12.90 return on the train if I book now and it's only 45 minutes away. Third time lucky!!

Surely a fake, would have to be one heck of a fart to go through a pair of trousers and still project a good foot behind the blokes exhaust.

I also think its ********.

That'll do me. Keep sneaking under the radar, no pressure, no expectations and other assorted cliches. Can't understand why commentators are so afraid of saying the word "Guly" on TV though. I'd jump at the chance. Can't be much fan being a Tractor Boy at the moment. First Norwich d*cked them in their own back yard on their way to promotion. Then Saints go and do the same, then that complete calamity yesterday. Funny for the rest of us, I only wish it was the Skates.

That's the point I was making.

Whatever the offical excuses for the invasion of Poland were, the real reasons were based largely on the greed of Hitler and Stalin and their desire for more territory. I don't know a lot about 1930s politics, but the Poles did bugger all to warrant being invaded. Reasons for disputes with North Korea. Well, there's possible trading and military support for South Korea. A rogue general taking a dislike to a potential disagreement with China. Ecconomic tensions. Take your pick. The USA has managed to fall out with dosens of regimes on the other side of the world, they aren't the only ones capable of doing it. "NATO can handle it without us getting involved." You do know what NATO is right?
-
How much did Poland meddle with Germany's affairs in the 1930s? Sadly, if someone like Jim Jong-Il ever got hold of some serious weapons, a 'live and let live' philosophy wouldn't cut it. If you're going to take that attitude, you could say that the entire military is useless and save hundreds of billions ever year. As for not meddling in the Middle East, can you please describe your vision of the world without opperation Desert Storm, or if we hadn't invaded Afghanistan? We'd have a mad tyrant controlling 1/4 of the worlds oil reserves and a terrorist summer holiday camp. As for ignoring any potential threats and running crying to the Americans, that's a terrible attitude to national secuirty. For a start we are reliant on America actually giving a sh*t. We could one day end up in a fight which they have no interest in, then what. Secondly, you're assuming that America is capable of policing the world on it's own. In a couple of decades, I reckon the Chinese military will easily match them for strength.

Southampton has Lucy Pinder Liverpool has Kerry Katona Clearly Southampton is superior, although unless your kids are a pair of lezzers, they might not appreciate this fully.

That's a very ignorant view IMO, it's like saying they aren't acting as a deterrent to teenage pregnancy. It was never designed with small scale terroism in mind. Even the biggest terrorist event in living memory, 911 only resulted in the deaths of a few thousand people. Nukes are chips in a MUCH bigger card game. What if relations with China, Russia or Pakistan turn sour, or North Korea or Iran build a functioning warhead? Things might be fine now, but projects like this take decades to put into service. If we wait until there is actually a threat to start building a nuclear deterrent it will be too late. In response to VFTT, I think we do need the "city killers". Otherwise it's not so much of a deterrent. If, God forbid, we ended up in China one day, a few tactical nukes aren't going to keep us safe. If however the Chinese knew we could flatten Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong withing a matter of hours, it might stop a conflict from kicking off. That's the paradox here, the countries with the deadliest weapons are the ones least likely to go to war.
