  1. It's not a lack of urgency its just the situation we are in. The players we desperately want rid of are extremely hard to move on because they aren't very good(so won't be a priority for others) and are highly paid (making less clubs interested) The players we'd prefer to keep we don't want to sell for under our market value.
  2. A quick google suggests prem avg wages are at least 8 times higher than championship. Even if you assume the top clubs are exagerrating that we're likely still to be among the top payers i'd have thought.
  3. Who's going to want to take the wages of that lot on let alone give us 15m for them.
  4. i'd be happy if Saints tried to eke out a little extra.
  5. Wonder if the club will seek a cheap veteran replacement for Caballero. Could Joe Lewis be on their radar. Given the investment in Bazanu i'm pretty sure he'll be given the nod as the 1st choice. They may re-think if he starts horribly in the league. In no way would i consider GK a top priority.
  6. There may be room for a cheap third choice. We're not going to be able to afford to have Mccarthy(probably 1 of the highest paid keepers in the league) as 3rd choice.
  7. I've been saying for a while that bree should only be back up as the things that suited him at Jones' luton aren't a fit for how we want to play. Would be pathetic if we let both KWP and Livramento go. If there's any intention of getting promoted we shouldn't be gutting a position of strength.
  8. Yeah really hoping we don't sell. Makes zero sense to me. At least its Nixon so i can hope its meaningless speculation.
  9. Isn't that the wrong way round. Shouldn't they be agreeing a fee with us before they spend a month talking to the player.
  10. CB is definitely a position i'd like to see some movement and CM is another where it seems certain we're going to lose both our current starters so you'd like to see good fees done and dusted. Fullback i'd be happy to keep our luxury and accomodate all 3 of Livramento, KWP and Manning. I'd be interested to see if there's any possibility of playing Livramento in a midfield role. When he was signed there was a lot of talk about his versatility. I have very low expectations of Larios and muted ones of Bree.
  11. Have to assume there's a player attitude calculation if we are selling Sulemana as i struggle to see us getting value in sale in terms of profit generated versus what we spent in January.
  12. At some point the club has to get to a schneiderlin point and go X,Y quality players aren't leaving regardless of the fee if they have any intention of getting promoted
  13. Can't see us selling him for less or equal to what we bought him, which was £22m wasn't it. $22M euros is the max they've spent as far as i can see. So seems unlikely they'll match our valuation.
  14. Is Adams guaranteed to be worse than someone like Piroe in that scenario?
  15. Good to hear. Given Newcastle's money and champions league status you'd expect it to still happen (unfortunately as i was very keen to see him playing in the championship for us). Part of me would like us to dig our heels in even more given how miserly(and seemingly negotiating via media) they are being in coming towards our valuation.
  16. Poor dribbling, linkup and retention doesn't seem to fit what Martin's aiming for imo.
  17. We better be keeping hold of KWP if we're selling Tino. 30M for Tino, that's either a serious comedown or someone got it seriously wrong when they talked about us asking for 50M so we'd get 30m. Not a fan of Bree as anything other than backup, looking OK in luton hoofball system doesn't for me translate to system we are signed up to.
  18. Again, when did Russia stop attacking Ukraine? They didn't attack Odessa and grain flowed freely whilst the deal was active so you could argue the agreement wasn't pointless. The UN have acknowledged there were obstacles to the Russian food/fertilizer elements that were a key part of the grain deal so Russia might be the one thinking any sort of agreement is pointless.
  19. Very depressing. Can't stand bednarek, really hoping he's got rid of. Interested to see us linked with Holgate, someone who seemed high potential but has fallen away. Think we need someone with some physicality too(DCC could offer that but seems like he's going to be a bust)
  20. Not convinced by edozie yet he had a trick(to beat a man) which was interesting but absolutely zero in delivery or shooting. hopefully he’ll develop into more this season.
  21. I’d be disappointed if we lost any of those 4. They feel like the players we should be building round not auctioning off if we have any ambition left. i’ve resigned Myself to jwp and lavia leaving, which at least should generate the much needed funds.( I expected kwp too but been very quiet on that front so maybe his stock is damaged.) I fully expect adams to leave as there’s no way the club will want to let him walk for free.
  22. Wasn't a fan of the signing but can't see beyond him starting as no1 this season, given we invested a lot in him and we've tonnes of other issues. He impressed at league 1 level, so hopefully that wasn't his ceiling and that he'll be better at championship rather than being dunked in at the top level with no experience.
  23. Not someone i've ever been particularly impressed by. Picking up players leicester don't think are good enough(otherwise why else would they be getting rid) to help them get promoted also feels rather odd.
  24. So whilst i agree you don't want to blow the bank on year 1 i also don't think you should be aiming for later years over year 1. I'd think statistics would suggest there are better odds of getting out quickly than hanging round as the financial advantage of parachute payments dissipates. History would also i think back up how dangerous it is to leave it to the 3rd year.
  25. I find that odd as its likely to be a false economy if true. Not getting promoted would cost the club a whole heap more. Sure they'll want to reduce the overall wage bill but recoup money rather than re-investing it seems unlikely to me and contrary to their messaging.
