Literally. The departure of a director of football should have zero effect on the first team between February and May. If it does then the situation is even more wrong than current appears. He does not pick the team or the tactics, and he has no impact on how the players train etc.... He should have been removed following Poch's exit and the summer of discontent.

Sadly Leslie wouldn't have got his bonus for that one... And he was too short sighted to see the potential in Kane.

Bring back four Saints players and a manager to save our season.

Shearer was better than any current saints striker when with us. I would argue that Bale is better than our current wingers. Plus he was 17. Not entirely sure what you are taking so much issue with. Toby, Mane, Bale and Shearer would all walk into our current side?!?! -
Bizarre thread. Easily one of our best players at the moment and trying every game.
-
Think this should be made into an actual poll please mods.

Potential to chose the two best british players of the last 30years.... and they get 5 mentions in total out of all of these posts. Default: Shearer Bale Additions Mane Toby. That is 4 players far above the current ability of our weakest squad areas. Others (but not exclusively): Morgan Wanyama VVD Clyne Oxlade Le Tiss Ball Channon Killer Lallana Lambert Fonte Keegan Shilton Team: Alex Bertrand, Toby, Stephens, Cedric Lemina, Romeu, JWP Bale Mane Shearer The possible change to this would be to drop Toby and stick Le Tissier in the middle for JWP/Lemina/Romeu. -
Given the teams left in (and how completley **** we are) there is almost zero chance of us winning the cup... so lets nip that false hope in the bud right now. However, given the question. The answer is 100% cup win and relegation >>>>> survival. And that is a fact. The only thing better than the last 10 years would be having won the fa cup at the start of it.

We are going to Wembley. I had a funny feeling during the west brom game. After all the goal line clearances and woodwork. Bet on us beating wigan because we will.

Problems with commentary on the Saints website...

For me it doesn't work in Chrome, just internet explorer. A rarity for sure. -
I still can't understand why our fans are incapable of protesting against the board? As a fanbase, we have come around and realised where the real cancer lies, and yet we'd sooner jeer the manager than those who ultimately hamstring us as a club. Madness.
-
No its more fake news rubbish. The biggest part of that rubbish was that AOC was not part of the championship team!!
-
Fans of the club I imagine.
-
Lemina has decided to put in another of his garbage performances so far then
-
The irony is that this is the attitude that allows boards like ours to exist. Fan's are suckers who will just keep coming back for more. They are the only shred of loyalty in a business that just farms money for everyone else involved.

Unless things change, it will 3 from Saints, Stoke, West Brom and Huddersfield.
-
Somewhere in a parallel universe, saints are the world's biggest football club. Lets enjoy that feeling
-
Paraphrased what you put
-
Trying that predictor I got the following teams relegated: Stoke, West Brom, and saints. Survival threshold was 34/35 points depending on gd.
-
nah, that would still be a zero pointer under my prediction criteria. Embarrassing though
-
Which is my point Wade... If he wasn't sacked after Palace / Leicester / (insert other), then no way is he going to get sacked after Liverpool.
-
Its too late to be messing around now. We have improved in recent weeks, have to hope that we continue to net benefit out of the teams around us. If we do we'll stay up. After Hoedt's mistake, yesterday was always a loss.
-
So I have updated the table with actual points returns vs predicted. Maybe I was naive to allow for 5 points from the past 3 games, but either way... we are now sightly under-performing against what was a fairly conservative points estimate in the first place. Give then teams around us are frequently beating mid table and upper table teams, I really struggle to see how 35points will be sufficient. I guess we just need to ensure we take points off of our direct rivals.
-
Good lord, if we are paying more than clubs like Newcastle, Swansea, West Brom and Stoke, then we really will be in trouble if we get relegated. The miss management of the club is shocking at the moment. Too much control in the hands of a very average DoF...
-
He isn't going to get sacked for losing to Liverpool. Get real.
