FFS a man that receives campaign funding from a terrorist organisation, and condones bombings injuring innocent people is not evil. A woman that was elected Prime Minister, and then followed the ideas that she stated when running for election is. HTH.

The reason I mention Brown, is because he championed himself as the pair of safe hands that presided over the 'Labour Economic miracle', stating he had put an end to boom and bust economics. Then when it went tits up, it was absolutely nothing to do with him. Which sounds very much like what you are levelling at MT. Ok, in fairness, you are doing the reverse, she is responsible for the bad and not the good. I actually think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. For the record, I'm not exactly a massive Maggie lover. I respect her as a politician, in the same way I respect Blair's ability to play the political game, despite my despising most of what the guy did. Most my points on here earlier, were to balance out a few rather one sided arguments, which heavily ignored large chunks of history, and then to say that I find the celebration of someones death disgusting. Which I stand by. A weaker PM in terms of personal resolve, than the one that crushed dissent, littered history with political roadkill, won 3 elections, and stayed in office for 11 years, and earned the nickname "The Iron Lady" by being so strong willed? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

When governments can handle big industry, I might come round to accept such an idea. The fact is they can't. Under every Labour government (I use this as an example, as let's face it, the chances of it happening under a Tory party are miniscule - although the same probably would apply) every big project still results in the public getting their pants pulled down. The NHS is a joke. I love that this country has a health service, it is absolutely one of the best things about this country, and should be protected at all costs. But, it needs scrapping and starting again. It really does. The idea that state run institutions don't become about greed, self-interest and self-preservation is a total fallacy. The NHS, as an example, is hideously bloated with back-room staff, in unnecessary jobs, created by 13 years of a labour government, funded by borrowing, to create their 'economic miracle'. It's hardly a surprise that we now see hospitals and NHS trusts on the verge of bankruptcy. Not to mention PFI's. Governments cannot even properly regulate big industry, how on earth are they meant to run it?

Because it works really well in Communist countries. Look how well they have done throughout history. Just don't mention how many people they all killed. But really it was because they weren't actually communist. Because we don't like that.

Right, so you still haven't answered a pretty straight forward question. I'll ask again. If she is not responsible for the positives solely, can she be responsible for the negatives solely? Or have we been reading the Gordon Brown book of politics again?
-
That's a poor attempt at evading a pretty straight forward question pap.
-
So is it any less laughable to attribute her solely with all the 'negatives'?

Thank god (Turkish god of course), that we have him to dispel all these untruths and spread the FACTS. Whilst also letting us all know we are utter morons talking utter bo llocks. Such is his commitment to TSW cause that he is also our resident Gok Wan, informing our style choices. Hero. -
Does the Reading game bring closure to the Adkins era?

It didn't make too much difference for me. If he didn't get a job for a couple of years, and so we didn't face him til then would it still have gone on? I don't think so. For me, it was done once he was gone. Don't get me wrong, I am probably still one of his biggest fans. Wish him all the best, and every success. Some people may want to belittle what he did here, but he was brilliant, undoubtedly a Saints legend, and presided over some of the best times in my Saints supporting time, so far. I will forever be grateful to him for that. Throughout everything he has conducted himself with both class, and dignity. Top man. All the best. Thank you, Nigel. -
kk, missed that one. ta.

It shouldn't be a subjective thing. She should be treated the same as any other former PM. Out of curiosity, what is the usual procedure? Not a huge amount of former PMs have died in my lifetime.

Southampton FC @SouthamptonFC 1m Seems our @vineapp post generated a bit of interest! We were snapping Jay Rodriguez for our next programme. #saintsfc pic.twitter.com/ijsnLEdXvZ

Kinda sounds like they were having people on...

Wakes are about celebrating the persons LIFE, not their DEATH. Pretty big difference there papster.
-
Coming from an IRA man.
-
I was genuinely disturbed at the images of the 'leader of the freeworld' saying this is a momentous day, and should be celebrated. I celebrate the death of no-one. Also, it's not exactly comparable. Osama was a terrorist leader, not a head of state. Not even a dictator, where as, much as her detractors hate to admit, and try to skip over, she won 3 elections.
-
I do indeed.

Does look a bit on the skinny side to be Artur. Hope I am wrong though! As important a signing as a top CB for me.

What, like airbrushing the fact that the unions were crippling the country when she came in? Or the fact she was basically voted into power on an anti-union platform. Or the fact that people such as Scargill had effectively declared themelves de facto PMs under Labour prior to Thatcher coming in. Or the fact the country was being bankrupted by Labour and the unions (sound familiar?) when she came in? Yes, let's not airbrush history.
-
Yeah, you are probably right. He is still a scumbag though.
-
What's the name of his party again? Absolute ****ing scumbag.

Paradoxically, that sea change is often attributed as being traced back to her. She was usually good for a soundbite, as trousers is demonstrating. She also had an innate understanding of the power of the press in controlling her govt, a move Mr. Blair later adopted. It carried on under Major, more due to increased media than he himself - for instance PMQs was first televised during Major's tenure. Blair, well yeah, he took on Thatchers mantle and did a marathon with it. Brown, well, what did he do? Cameron, shiny-faced PR machine-Blair mk II. Increasing this further.

Spot on mate. Being born in '89, my interest in her is more from a historical point of view (I studied History & Politics). Never a dull moment. Also shows how desperate Politicians are now. Will flip & flop to suit the media. Can't really envisage a PM with such a strong, unwavering ideology nowadays.
