Summer signings, which positions ?
KelvinsRightGlove replied to Saints boy in Leeds's topic in The Saints
Lose lots of the fringe team. Sorry Hammond, Sharp, Chappers, De Ridder, Butters, Frazer et al. You all did your jobs, it's nowt personal, but if we want to progress, they haven't a future here. Better for them to be playing football I think. All the best to them. I'd like to see an extra body of quality in most positions. To clarify: A young, nippy FB in the Clyne mould, adaptable to play both sides. Able to push both Clyne and Shaw, perhaps less of a liability than Danny Fox (who could possibly go in the out category - again, nothing personal). Big priority for me, as suggested by many others is a commanding CB, of top quality. If there is to be a Lambert (at the time)/Gaston type 'marquee' signing, this is where I would like to see one. I agree with some assertions that pairing this type of Yoshi, may help bring out the best in him also. A real leader at the back would be great, though I am aware there seems to be a lack of these around at present. That's what scouts are paid to do though. If there are any available, perhaps a young CB able to do a job if really needed, if signed in addition to above CB, this could possibly see Jose/Jos in the out category likewise. Happy to leave this to MPs discretion, as an international CB himself, his judgement is likely better than mine. A Young DM to push/learn from Cork & Morgan. I'm unsure whether JWP is seen as ending here or further forward. If he is deemed as being good enough for this, fair enough. Again, another one for the 3 would be good. Pace & tricks a plenty please. I know it's a bit different, but it seemed Mata has flourished this year having Oscar, and particularly Hazard around him. Perhaps another like minded player could help bring out the best in Gaston, possibly? A young CF, again to push Rickie & JRod, and able to deputise if needs be. Again, possibly pacy. If they could perhaps pick up some of Rickies house, they may well turn out to be some player. All just my opinion, and what I would like to see in an ideal world, though obviously it's no where near as simple as that. Boruc needs a new contract too. If he does leave, a GK of equal ability absolutely has to be a priority, possibly more so than CB. -
Shame it is a hoax. Could have been quite fun.

Team playing well under Pochettino: MYTH
KelvinsRightGlove replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
Feels like that has been the case every game we have won this season and last. Funny that. -
Realistic target placing next season - current squad?
KelvinsRightGlove replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
There were plenty saying they would prefer QPRs approach to transfers. Even some (granted not many) that said Reading were doing better than us when it came to players in. Probably the same saying we should be following Leicesters model the summer previously. -
Does this mean the MYTH of us playing well under MP is now FACT?

In fairness mate, I'd be quite happy if we were upper-mid-table, if that makes sense. Agree safety needs to be secured first. However I have always believed we would stay up, and our last two games have only strengthened that. I think two wins and a draw or two is what we need to stay up. Looking at our remaining fixtures, I think that is realistically achievable. I only really view Spurs away as our only "no-hoper", though I still wouldn't be surprised given City, Liverpool & Chelsea performances. That said, with the right additions, and a bit of luck along the way, why not aim higher? Hey, maybe I'm just a silly pessimist. -
Definitely agree, at least he made no clangers, and in fairness a decent stop from Moses (I think)

Clearly.

Really good stop. Wasn't too busy but did what was needed of him. Super-kelv! -
I may be his biggest fan, but J-Rod is class. In my opinion, he has been one of our top performers in 2013.

Clyne, Yoshi, Davis & J-Rod certainly did their bit.

Chelsea line up £7m summer bid for Clyne

Extra few million on that price tag after today me thinks. What a steal he was. -

C'mon Everton! A decent win for them could see us gain another place! -

Impressive defending at the end. Did well to keep Hazard so quiet when he came on. The full backs are so good. J-Rod was class. Shame on those who were so quick to write him off. -
Kamikaze Fox on. Eeep.
-
FFS, why did we sign J-Rod?! He's rubbish, not up to the prem, when we go down he won't be worth half what we paid for him. Our transfers are so poor. We wasted £2m on Clyne as well. Everyone out.
-
FFS. Bad Fred for me. Double banned.
-
Gaffer must rate him. Seems to pick him a lot. He was an international centre-back himself, so he might know a few things we don't?
-
For a weakened team, that's still pretty good. Hoping Mata & Hazard will be a big miss for them. They have been brilliant lately, some of their interplay seems almost telepathetic.
-
Is that a young Robert Smith on guitar there? I know he was with them for a bit.

You wonder why people get frustrated with you? It's as if you revel in when things go wrong sometimes.

England potentially face a game behind close doors...
KelvinsRightGlove replied to Tomobz's topic in General Sports
Does kind of feel a case of, something bad was said about a couple of black players, so it must be racist. People get so carried away sometimes. My little brother got suspended from school a few years back for calling another kid a "lump of poo". This kid happened to be Asian, but both the boys were 7, clearly anyone with a shred of common sense can understand that is just something kids say, they don't even know what racism is at that age. Racism is abhorrent, and absolutely should be cracked down on, but there needs to be some common sense applied. -
What does a professional footballer with near on 20 years experience and over 50 international caps know about anything? The Saintsweb boys decided he is rubbish, and not up to it.

Pochettino praises Fernanado Torres ....but why ?
KelvinsRightGlove replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
I almost feel sorry for Torres. I really liked him, for a while I really thought him and Drogba were the best two strikers in the world. He was simply unplayable. Something happened that just seemed to change him, it's almost like in Space Jam when those alien things stole all the basketball players ability (yes, clearly it was injury). It's a shame to see him struggle, and fair play to the bloke, he does still try hard, his luck just seems to have completely deserted him. I reckon he will end up in a lesser league on huge money soon, Dubai, Russia, China, States or something like that. Struggle to see many European sides taking him, for what he would cost.
