  1. This is what I love about her.
  2. I don't get this bloody game. Fully fit squad at start of season two and pretty iffy, mid table start. Really thin squad, gets decimated by injuries, playing cork and a 17 year old at CB, 17 year old lone striker, Steven Davis rwb. And I start getting decent wins. Through to the Cap 1 Cup Semi, beat spurs and Everton away and up to 6th. Odd.
  3. Praying its Ellie. I love that girl, and it would be fantastic for a Paralympian to win this year. That said, all of them are more than deserved winners. Any other year they would probably all win by a country mile. Think it will probably be Wiggo, who in fairness is cool as **** (yes I'm a repressed wanna be mod). That picture of him on the throne after he won gold has to be the coolest thing ever.
  4. Haha. Look, I get she's not for everyone. But, she's the best at what she does. She's taken pop by the scruff of the neck, and now everyone is scrambling around trying to be like her. She's also a fantastic performer and musician.
  5. I'm going to just come right out with this. I love Gaga.
  6. I've said previously in discussions about removing Adkins (prior to the upturn in form), that one of the many reasons I am sceptical to sacking him is that I just don't see who is out there at the moment that would offer a better alternative (that is a realistic target). As you point out, this would be exacerbated if we were to go down.
  7. Oh and McCarthy at Sunderland?
  8. Did Bruce do it with Birmingham? And actually, do they do it with McCleish as well? Could be wrong on both of those.
  9. Certainly merits in this. Much as I would love a cup run, I would trade a 3rd round humping from Chelsea for guaranteed survival in a heartbeat.
  10. Ok, I agree with you on this. Specially the likes of Lallana, Morgan & Lambert who have been instrumental in taking us from L1 to the Prem. As an aside, do you think the "Down With Adkins" argument has some merits here? Like you say, a new set of players, tactics, set up, staff manager would be more damaging than perhaps just attempting to patch holes in the squad whilst keeping a similar set up?
  11. Considering Wolves got £20+m for Jarvis & Fletcher, I would imagine we would probably get close to, if not more than £30m from these guys were we to go do. Obviously, Puncheon would most likely be a freebie.
  12. She's just ****!ng amazing. So consistently brilliant.
  13. In reality, as TDD put it succinctly and effectively "Who cares?". Grown men b!tching about what top other men are wearing. Sounds a bit Gok Wan to me.
  14. It's an absolute disaster!!!! The kit is a disgrace!!!! Cortese is evil and should be ashamed of himself!!!! Everyone out ffs!!
  15. Have Wigan not had a few managers before Martinez though? Jewell, Hutchinson (?), Bruce, was there more?
  16. What about all the ninnies that hate the Premiership, want us to not be in the Premiership, but will still b!tch and soak their nappies everytime we lose? Not saying that is you, by the way, but there are some on here with that attitude. Wonder what their take on 17th would be.
  17. I could be wrong on this, but it was my understanding that PART of the reason for his departure from Fiorentina was as a cost-cutting exercise. Italian football, like the countries wider economy, is in the sh!tter.
  18. Not usually a massive hip-hop fan, though I quite like Kendrick Lamar. Though, I did hear this morning he is going to be on Dido's next album. Just strikes me as all sorts of odd. Been working my way through the Drowned in Sound Albums of the year list, trying to catch up on albums I missed. Really enjoyed How to Dress Well, Japandroids & The Lost Rivers efforts so far.
  19. It would probably be a similar split, IMO. Those calling for his head, and saying he was out of his debt often chose to ignore who we had played. So it would probably be fair to guess that switching the order of fixtures would probably just mean that the calls for his head would be coming about now. Funny how quiet/absent a certain small but loud minority are now. Fair play to those that have said they wanted Adkins out, and explained their stance/change of opinion since. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes eh?
  20. I can understand the stance re: Boruc. The way I see it, is that Adkins and the coaching staff see the players in training everyday. It may not be (though equally, you may be right that something we don't know about has occured) a behind the scenes issue. It may be that he just isn't as good as he used to be. Or it may be that he is extremely out of shape/off the pace. If I remember correctly, he wasn't signed til about September? After the Arsenal game? Is this right? If he really was as good as he once was, or some suggest - why would a former international Goalkeeper, on a free transfer not have a queue of suitors lining up to sign him up?
  21. I've always said that I think NC, has done a good job. His track record speaks for itself for me. Edit: did mean to mention that I do think he has made some mistakes, but everyone does. I did fear, and after WBA was convinced, he would sack Adkins. I was wrong on this, but happy it didn't happen as I didn't want Adkins to go. So, is Adkins still tactically inept, and out of his league? Does he still need to go? Are we going to be cut adrift by January? If I remember correctly, this is what you said to me on a thread a while back?
  22. Nice one, thanks for that. Clearly my tiny brain couldn't ever riddle that one out. So in short, your point was to join the thread to start a row with people that don't exist? Decent.
  23. Has anyone said we are definetly safe? Certainly not on this thread at least.
  24. I'm not saying he made no mistakes at all, but a lot of the problems at the start of the season were individual errors. No manager can coach for that. I think it would be unfair to say he didn't recognise the issues, he was quite explicit in saying we needed to improve and let less goals in - or you just think you know more than him - which none of us do.
  25. In addition to this, I would argue that changing a manager with such a firm belief in a certain type of football mid-season would be very damaging. For example, I can't see how someone like 'Arry would slot in and oversee an immediate upturn in fortunes. As I said previously, I really don't think there would be a manager available/interested in coming in that would offer a better alternative to Adkins. It can also be seen from other teams such as Chelsea, QPR & Blackburn in the Champ, that changing a manager is no guarantee of an immediate 'bounce' in form, a further slump would have seen Saints in a much more perilous position. All just my humble opinion, of course.
