Would take our recruitment policy over that of QPR/West Ham any day.

Had a hunt for an older thread (admittedly not a long one), but had no joy. Thought I'd start a thread for discussing recent/upcoming gigs. I do go to a fair few. Off to see Paul Weller & Miles Kane tomorrow, absolutely buzzing! MODmas came early!!
-
Just furthering what you said about no drugs. Soz.
-
It's my understanding that all TFL workers are subject to drug tests. Well, based on a mate that works in a control room, and another that fixes the Boris Bikes - who both have to take drug tests.

You do get boxing day off every year....

Can't really say I'd blame them on that one. I'd much rather have Berba than Pog. A no brainer, surely?
-
True, but @ Fulham Pog came in and was immediately the focus of the sides attacking intent, and got a solid run in the side. Something which has yet to be afforded to J-rod in the same manner.
-
Really? Bit surprised on that, but that's your opinion and a fair one. I'm happy we plumped with J-Rod personally. Probably harsh to judge either on this season. Doesn't really seem like either have had a fair crack to show what they are capable of. My impression of Pog, was that he had Saganowski/Cisse syndrome. Come in in Jan, few good performances then die off. Only Pog seemed to only do this for about 5/6 weeks.
-
Ok yeah, it may have been that. I certainly recall a few making noise about our lack of ambition in not going for Pogrebnyak though.
-
I might be wrong on this, but wern't some posters pointing to Reading as being more successful than us in the window? Mainly due to this (naive & unrealistic) obsession many seem to have that unless all our dealings are done by July 1st, the window is an abject failure.

Never said I was a tory. Your research has let you down, like I already mentioned it was a joke. Shall we get back to football/saints - as opposed to my satirical opinions? I'm sure people are more interested in this.
-
Thanks for the biography. When's the hardback out? Yes I started supporting Saints, full-time in '03 - having been going to the Dell on/off since '96. That said I carried on supporting Saints in the Champ & L1, so the overwhelming majority of my time as a Saints fan has been outside the prem. So does the fact I'm younger than you, and therefore started supporting Saints later than you make me a bad-fan? Get a grip, what are you the adjudicator of Saints fans authenticity? Blimey all this attention for me. Whatever did I do to deserve it? As I said, before both of you started spouting off. It was a joke. So maybe calming yourselves down a bit might be necessary.

See post #37. 50/50.

I'm 100% aware that during 13 years of labour govt this gap rose every single year. It ent just them damn nasty nasty Tories. They are all just as bad as each other. Funny what happens with a clearly bombastic, tongue in cheek comment. Anyway, isn't this a football board?

I'm originally from Yorkshire, and lived in Leeds for four years up until last summer. So I'm fairly sure I know the deal there. What have Premiership players got to do with the tube striking?? You've kind of missed the point entirely haven't you? These are the same group of people that demand extra money for doing their job at every given opportunity, and then threaten to strike at times when they can affect as many people as possible. Remember all that crap about the Olympics? How many other people working in London got paid bonuses for doing their job when that was on? I certainly didn't. And I don't know anyone else, including other TFL workers that did. Do a little bit more research bub, for public sector workers, train drivers have got in cushty. Get paid WAY more than many other public sector workers, especially those with comparative skills, education or training - for example nurses. They are not even comparable in terms of pay to nurses, bin men or sewer workers. So really, you have offered nothing to this. But yeah, top marks for trying. So wheel your neck in, and enough of the indirect threats. I'm from Yorkshire, and have no problem telling fellow Yorkshiremen that Maggie could sort out the unions again.
-
Half of London's retails outlets (not an official figure) have been pleading with the union to not do this as they are all planning on starting sales on this day. Shops were predicting a huge rush, and hoping to make up for a bad year. Then the unions struck.
-
I cannot wait til the greedy, opportunistic b@stard drives are made obsolete and replaced by machines. At every chance they attempt to leverage their position by striking on days they know are going to affect people most. Frankly, their jobs are already pretty cushy - especially compared to many others out there. Scum, the lot of them. Bring back Maggie.

Championship v Premier League...
KelvinsRightGlove replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Perhaps unsurprisingly, given our different views on the matter, I am happy for us to forget the FA Cup this year. I'm not saying this would be the case forever, but for me, staying in the PL is and should take far greater precedence in terms of importance. I would much rather we played some of the kids, got a beating then left it in the passed and focused solely on staying up. Whilst I still feel we have enough about us to stay up, it is going to be a long, hard slog. Once we are a bit more established, I would like to see us giving the FA Cup another run. Some of my favourite Saints moments link to the '03 Cup run, about the time I became a full-time Saints fan. I was at SMS for the 4-0 against Spurs, and the 'Hoddle, what's the score?!' chants, and I absolutely loved it. Would love to have all that again, plus, I live pretty close to Wembley, so would be great if we were to get there again . -
Sunderland -3- Massive game, needs to be 3 points, and I think (hope) it will be. Fulham -1- Think this may be a rather dull boxing day affair. Draw written all over it for me, considering their Home record probably not a bad point. Stoke -0- Can't see Pulis' boring bunch of Thugs & Freaks dropping any points to us. Will kick us off the pitch all over the place - just hope we don't come away with too many injuries. Arsenal - too hard to call at the moment. As said, totally dependent on which arsenal team shows up. Potential for a Draw or Win here though. Villa - Big game, would take a point, though a win would be amazing. So inconsistent, though looking better of late. Smacks more of a must-not-lose to me.

Oooh some good shouts I missed there. Have to agree, it's been a great year for music.

Championship v Premier League...
KelvinsRightGlove replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
It's by far the most competitive league top division. Look at Spain, two horse race every year. The gap from Barca in 2nd to Valencia in 3rd was 30 points, or 39 points from Real in 1st to Valencia in 3rd. By comparison, well we all know how close the race between 1st & 2nd was. Fulham in 9th place finished 37 points behind Utd & City. This is where the 'Best League in the World' title comes from. Week-in, week-out the Premiership show cases some of the best footballers on the planet, with the favourite teams often coming unstuck. Personally, it's my view that as a fan, I want to see Saints be the best they can be. I want to see the best possible players play for the club, against the best possible opposition. Why do so many people watch the Olympics or the World Cup? Because it is the best competing against the best. So yeah, we might lose more often than when we were facing Rochdale, Gillingham and Notts Co week in week out, but that's the price you pay. -
Figures, get some first teamers back, form nose dives again. maybe I should just play the kids
