Funny, start of last season many assumed it would be Fonte dropped and Yoshi playing alongside Lovren. Don't really get how he can't he called Prem standard, was a first XI player in our first season up and we survived. Granted he is hardly top level prem, but he can do a job. I like him, but don't really want him as a first teamer.

Reading Creativity Inc. at the minute. It's by the President of Pixar & Disney Animation. It's really interesting listening how he overcomes certain issues. A lot of the things he talks about I see in the company I work at. It's also fascinating reading about the evolution of the Pixar films (sure I'm not the only one that loves nearly all of these) and how the stories end up almost unrecognisable from how they started.

That 3 in 2 for him now?

I can lend you some gloves if you want mate?

I disagree on the Stoke one I'm afraid. Yes it was a freak, but he had plenty of time to watch the ball (the length of the pitch) and was out of position and misjudged it. He then got up and try to blame the CB's IIRC. I'd want him keeping that one out if I'm honest. Do think he could have done better v Sunderland, and also Stoke at Home (I think) where he got himself in a right flap at a corner. Arsenal Away obviously too. I've called for a new goalie before, I don't think Boruc is awful and on balance he probably did save more goals/points than he cost. We could have carried on with him for sure, but I wanted an upgrade. If Forster is or not, I'm not sure. I haven't seen anywhere near enough of him to make a judgement on that yet.

Fever To Tell is an absolute stonker. I agree it's their best. I'm a big fan of It's Blitz too. Totally agree on her, she's just amazing. Her doing Maps moves me close to tears everytime I see them. Really looking forward to this one.

Got tickets to see Karen O at Bush Hall this morning. Very excited, she's such a great performer and it's a great little venue. Liking the sound of her solo stuff, hoping she'll chuck i a couple of YYY's tracks for good measure.

Saints most prolific striker isn't he? -
All the best Billy

I'm not exactly salivating at the thought of Long, but not disheartened either. I do think a front 3 of JRod, Long & Pelle could be an absolute nightmare to defend against though.

Sorry for spamming up this thread. But, this has also just popped up on my Facebook - and talks quite well about why the 'selfish' tag is unhelpful: http://www.theguardian.com/science/brain-flapping/2014/aug/12/robin-williams-suicide-and-depression-are-not-selfish?CMP=twt_gu

I saw a friend post this earlier, I thought some of these illustrations were pretty spot on: http://www.buzzfeed.com/hnigatu/comics-that-capture-the-frustrations-of-depression

It's hard. I can see why people would see it as 'selfish', and in some ways it is. But, as SOG says, for someone to get so far down the line as that you really have lost control to the illness. Depression is often misunderstood, people often think it means just being sad all the time or being lazy, not getting out of bed or just moping around. It's hard for people who havn't experienced it first hand. It really can take a hold of sufferers, and sadly it can get to a point where you just aren't thinking - the illness truly can take over, and becomes all encompassing. For someone to contemplate, or worse still actually commit suicide they must be at a point of total despair and desperation. It really does ruin lives, not just of the those suffering the illness, but of those of their families too. I'm fairly sure if you could speak to RW he would not have wanted to cause any pain to any of those close to him. I see Alan Brazil is getting some stick for saying he has "no sympathy" and calling it "diabolical" on his TalkSport show this morning. Be that as it may, maybe making such comment so soon after the event was a little distasteful.

Shows how devastating an illness depression can be, and that it really can affect anyone. His poor family. RIP a true comic hero.

We must have signed what 100's/1000's of players (I genuinely have no idea what the figure would be) - Top 5 in that would surely count as "one of". Guess it's subjective, but in that context I'd say so. I'd say Rickie is up there, certainly in my time supporting Saints.

I went and saw Watford quite a few times over the past two seasons as I lived quite close by and got cheap tickets through a friend. He's good at that level, but I would be worried about his ability to step up to the Prem. He's certainly a physical presence, he'd handle that at a canter. It's the technical side of his game I'd worry about. The ball can bounce off him at times. I do like him, he's certainly a handful and is rarely wanting for effort. He does seem to have got his head down at Watford, after a few indiscretions. I do think for the money it would likely take to prise him away from Watford it would be a risk - that said Ings is probably an equal risk (I havn't seen enough of Ings play to make a fair judgement on him).

Behind Cork? How'd you work that one out? JWP was a starter at the beginning of last season, Cork wasn't. JWP also featured in more league games than Cork last season too.

Just checked back on the other predictions thread as I wasn't entirely sure what I said. I plumped for 9-14th, saying I didn't think much would separate those places. As it stands I'd probably still say about there. Having Forster & boruc should help. Another CB and I think the first XI is looking in reasonably good shape. Still a little worried on depth, though that was an issue last year and it still didn't end too bad then. The keeper situation was the biggest killer imo. So yeah, slightly worse off than last year, but I don't see us getting relegated.

Love 'em. They lost their way a bit, but the new stuff is sounding good. Excited for the new album.

Ok mate. Carry on.

Now now, play nice Goats.

My old boss, who is probably the most intelligent and insightful person I have ever met, once told me: "We look for answers that affirm our view of the world. Simpletons think the world is simple, and thusly seek simple answers" I'm often reminded of this when reading this forum.
