Until proven wrong I will always think that signing Italian offensive options is a mistake. Also, looking at his record, until 2012 he only scored 10 goals once. Unless he didn't really play as a striker before I smell a one hit wonder.
-
I remember Fonte being good alongside Yoshida the previous season. Maybe he just makes good CBs like Lovren look even better.
-
I see Dutch clubs now regard us a bit like the Italian clubs did with Cortese: their lottery tickets.

Dusan Tadic - DONE DEAL, official and everything

Because most in this page were desperate due to the sale of some of our best players and so they regard any signing as the oasis in the desert. Source: 345 experts in Dutch, Serbian and European football and 20+ Saints ITKs. -
NEVER.

New Keeper / David Marshall Interest

Very much agree! -
I again see the name of Mangala mentioned in this forum. I'll say it again: HE IS HORRIFICALLY OVERRATED. DO NOT LET A CALL-UP FOR FRANCE FOOL YOU.

Maybe that's why he pretends to be an annoying ITK. -

Exactly the point. -
Tino to take him to Spurs. You heard it here first.

Anyone at the airport to check if he's on a plane to Manchester (for an onward journey to Liverpool) tomorrow morning? That should help. Also let's not get carried away just because he's our first signing, he's useless until ruled a star. -
Ok so basically he'll be off in a week for less than 20 million. But hey never mind, there's a whole Eredivisie team of the year waiting for Ronnie's call.

Is this a little dig at Pochetino from Cork?
melmacian_saint replied to Johnny Bognor's topic in The Saints
I wonder what is it that people consider to be ****-sturring? Trying to find better alternatives to improve the team that plays every Saturday? It also surprises me that a group of Football League players who quite literally won a lottery ticket by joining a club on the up who had the resources, the money and gave them all the conditions to thrive suddenly look and sound so self-entitled. How many top level trophies do we have in our squad? Just who do they think they are? -

I always felt and still feel that the main goal behind signing Wanyama was to replace Jack Cork in the CDM position. Jack Cork's lack of pace and strength are not ideal for that position, or a CM position for that matter where at least one is required apart from good passing and intelligence. Not that anyone around here will care to notice. -
I blame the airport. Flying into London and then getting down here puts players off.
-
Time will tell.

Depends on your perspective. I think that a 27 year old League One top scorer is a no-brainer for any team chasing promotion to the Championship.
-
I don't think we should be wasting our time on a 29 year-old striker for an OK club in the defenseless Dutch league.
-
Do we have to pay Lyon any amount of a potential transfer fee? I can see this being a Lallana 2.0, where the price is negotiated everywhere but in the meeting table.
-
My biggest worry is whether RK will want a few Dutch-based or Feyenoord-based players to join, and immediately place them ahead of the players that are here. I feel that right now the last thing we need is to break up the existing core even further. But in all fairness, Tadic and Pelle seem like for like signings.
-
It should be Jose really as he was already third captain behind Lambert and Lallana.
-
Pick your words very carefully Dejan.
-
Funny how he made sure his picture was still bigger than the thank you part. On second thought he really never was captain material.
-
I do not think Jack Cork was ever in contention for the senior England squad. His passing makes him look better than what his all round game really allows him to be.
-
Yes, he lost a fair number of tackles and was less effective when pressing opponents because of it.
