  1. A good result no doubt under a team that plays some nice, flair football. Some cracking bargains other than Vorm and Michu in there, Pablo Hernandez is class for just under 6 million and De Guzman and Dyer are no outcasts. They are looking like the team we should be next season. Some defensive woes and I think the team are now starting to just shift to the slow lane in a run-in that we hardly expected to be such a nice stroll in the sun. All in all both teams are very similar and just fitted into each others game. Lots of neat moves, nice passing and generally pleasant football but little room for great chances and generally ambition to go for a win was frankly not there. Taking Lambert off was the only thing that changed this a bit but A point we would all take at their stadium IMO. MOM Boruc, Cork a close contender but Steven Davis just keeps impressing me.
  2. And here we go again...standards dropping to below floor level.
  3. Long live the Hooiveld delusion. Great save Boruc. Look no more for a top, top keeper.
  4. Say what you want and I think he does look exciting and do rate him, but Lallana's season has been frustrating. No end product and a number of lapses that you wouldn't expect from a captain... I shall repeat this: Cork-Schneiderlin is one of the top 5 midfield pairing in the Prem. Aggressive, neat, composed. Brilliant stuff.
  5. Hooiveld showing his marking skills there again...
  6. Very intelligent stuff, draining them of possession with our short, high-tempo passing.
  7. They are certainly the most settled squad, but we and Swansea are certainly very similar in terms of the game both play.
  8. That was not a foul!! Who is this commentator????
  9. If only he actually shouted at himself for where he usually should be. And for those pointless long-balls to nowhere.
  10. Best Cork shot in his Saints career so far.
  11. Interesting piece Also has anyone else noticed how the clubs in the League (all the divisions) haven't changed all that much since then?
  12. I think Steven Davis will be in the side today actually. Ramirez's pace still not at best and Swansea have loads of it in their midfield. His high-tempo passing and movement will be a plus for us to keep possession. One of those days where you just want to play football really.
  13. You know I was angry at the -10, but then I read that 51% rubbish, and realized... If the takeover value is estimated at 6.3 million (or so I read but will happily accept any corrections), then the PST will have spent 3.2 million of their funds on ownership ONLY. Given the figures for the shares campaign did not reach that value, then this means that the plucky "ordinary Portsmouth fans" have much less than 51% of the club's ownership. The property developers have therefore the main income plug (bar the PPs which have already been called dibs on), and quite frankly I don't see 7-figure-worth individuals being too extravagant on their expenditures, let alone spending big amounts of their money in such a low-return business like a lower-league club. They will literally become a L2 club, and every little cut in revenue will cost them a handful of league positions. WTFILN
  14. Never rated O'Hara, always thought he had the temper of a wet cat. But Adam Hammill and mostly Roger Johnson who I would've had in any team any day I must have really destroyed their careers. Impressive how Wolves failed to build on their good first PL season. Of course when you have a joke like McCarthy as your manager anything can be expected...
  15. Very much agree with this. Also apart from Saints I wish Norwich and Newcastle stay up. Newcastle are a PL team and despite their unbalanced squad they play some good football going forward and Norwich are a fairly decent team, Carrow Road is a nice ground and although I don't particularly like Chris "cold feet" Hughton I have a lot of respect for the fact that Delia (as annoying as she may sound) uses her expertise to create an important income stream for the club.
  16. Weren't we taken -10 as we entered administration (relegating us to L1) and then -10 at the beginning of L1 for coming out of it? If so then the FL is just following the correct procedure. What I don't agree is with the lack of punishment for not being able to pay an agreed CVA, something that usually means the solicitor should be arriving at the head office with a notepad for asset valuation.
  17. Speaking of herding, I found it very weird that the Welsh police were at SMS when Swansea came in November...does the English police also travel with the fans of teams that go there?
  18. Funny they say there aren't enough English players in the Premier League, when you then look at the Scottish, Welsh and both the Irish national teams and half of the players are born and raised in England, most of which actually play in the Premier League. Maybe it's not just the nasty clubs that aren't doing their job properly aye Mr. Hodgson?
  19. So for now it's all cheers down there, but I think they'll have a very unpleasant surprise when they meet to plan next season. And unlike they suggest, ST numbers WILL NOT go up. Despite all this PST rubbish their attendances in League One (and in the last few years) have always been dropping and so they will continue to. I'd be surprised if they had more than 10k for any of the 21 home games next season. They will also realize that they will have to build a new squad from scratch (doubt they will keep more than 4 players from this current squad) and not exactly with much more money than the others in the league. In fact, as its looking, chances are they will have to do a "pack the park" us vs. Burnley kind of situation to be able to fund themselves through the rest of the season. Much more to come. But the room for delusion is getting smaller, which can only be good.
  20. League Two -> Conference -> Conference South -> Southern Premier Anyone know what the actual national record is for successive relegations? Not just league, I'm sure there are some pretty pathetic figures at non-league level...
  21. Wasn't he on his "off-season" holidays as well? You don't run into a PL team rolling at full steam like that. Good to see that his agent is the first one to weather the storm. Compare his attitude with the likes of Odemwingie's or Samba's agents (and a good number of PL players) and you cans see we're moving in the right direction.
  22. It had to do with a scruffy beard he had when he first appeared in professional football. Surprisingly, Argentine players are actually worse with that. Every average footballer in that country has a surname like he's some kind of star.
  23. Have the trust actually signed the ownership papers?? Because it wouldn't be possible that the FL realized they cannot fund the debts of the club and stopped the whole thing, or would it? Whatever the reason I expect they will only be able to stabilize when they turn amateur in 2016 or so.
  24. Nice to use the owner's competitive advantage to the club's benefit. Good on them. I wonder if we could have our own "Saints building society", a joint use of both Cortese and the Liebherr's know-how
