  1. They are not know as Portsmyth for nothing. You could write a book just about the fairly tales that come out of there.
  2. No offence, but this has got to be the lamest thread in months.
  3. The gulf in class between Premiership and Div 1, even rock-bottom-going-nowhere-but-down premiership, is huge. Skates to win 0-2, but i don't care; we'll outdo them in every other respect.
  4. Your grounds too big for you Your grounds too big for you Your grounds too big for you Your grounds too big for you (to the tune of "Your grounds too big for you")
  5. You are both sharing the same bad dream. It never happened. Under what circumstances do you think OB decided to keep 20, 25K(?) home fans hanging around in 4 sides of the ground while 1,2,5K(?) away fans from one section trundled off home ? You've both been at Granny's sherry.
  6. Trust me that has never ever happened. You've just had a bad dream.
  7. *No limit on tickets per database name now* I bought my season ticket seat last week, and went down again this morning and asked if i could buy more. "Certainly", said the chap, " how many do you want?".

  9. I was there. Perfect day. It still gives me goose bumps.
  10. Apart from the Alfred AFTER the game, it seems everything is open. As it should be.

    SICK

Well you're all wrong, and clearly a bunch of inbred knuckle-draggers, with little sense of the aesthetic and less sense of the historic. As it doesn't appear to matter what we wear I shall mostly be wearing a retro Pompey kit all next season and I'll spit in the eye of anyone who challenges me.

We're cut from different cloth. I could never be bored of red and white stripes or Southampton FC

I can understand, but not agree with, reasoned arguments about first ever kit etc etc, but don't tell me a red sash on a white shirt looks good. It looks like Peru, and Peru were ****.

But it's not 'The sash my father wore'.

Why stop with changing the kit, how about a new nickname, or a new full name. And then why not move to a bigger city to draw more support. OF course our next opponents could give us a few tips.

I'm not Leeds or Crystal Palace and don't give a monkeys about either. I'm Saints and that is red and white stripes. End of. If people want a break from those stripes so much why not take a season off and go watch Bournemouth or similar.

Yes Arsenal did it, and few real Arsenal fans liked it, just ask Nick Hornby. But then few Arsenal fans get along to the Emirates these days as it's full of JCL bankers and media types eating prawn sandwiches.

    SICK

Anyone remember the SICK campaign back in the late 80's? For those who don't, 'SICK' stood for 'Saints in conventional kit'. Fans then were fed up with various new strips each season and wanted to return to our trade mark red and white stripes. And here we are again. The suggestion is next season, in our 125th year, we abandon the shirt that we all grew up with for a kit no living Saints fan ever saw us wear. If you are going to the trouble to celebrate 125 years of sporting and civic history why would you abandon the one thing that football fans near and far associate with Southampton FC? I've met locals in Indonesia who on seeing my red and white striped shirt immediately shouted 'Southampton' at me. IF you want to think in terms of brands, brands needs identities. Identities are long in establishing but can be ruined in moments. And our 'brand' is identified by red and white stripes. I'm delighted that we will celebrate our 125th year by not having a sponsor on our shirts, but wouldn't that make more sense on a shirt people now too old to go to a match remember us wearing in the 30's or 40's? I can understand the suggestion of revisiting the sash kit as it was our first kit, but in reality it's only a small footnote in our history, along with the quartered kit. We have a rich and glorious heritage, and our 125th anniversary is a good time to celebrate it; wearing the kit that has made us famous.
  22. Boy have they overrun!!!!
  23. This has been the most fun season in ages, and it makes a nice change to win more than we loose. But, with all the money spent I think AP had been pretty average.
  24. I've been telling anyone who will listen that the Portsmyth game won't sell out because of the crap ticketing arrangements.
  25. This is a really really bad idea. I hate it. The Daily Express starts off by saying " SAints are about to ditch one of the most famous striped kits in football" Exactly. How many seasons did we have in that poxy white shirt/ red diaganal kit, and how many in red and white stripes????? Everyone who knows of Saints worldwide knows of us as playing in red and white stripes. It takes years to build heritage and only a few moments to reduce it to garbage.
