From the BBC "A former defence attaché at the British embassy in Moscow says that his warnings of "a long, dark march to war" by Vladimir Putin were ignored. Air Commodore Carl Scott, now retired, writes in a letter to the Financial Times that he and his colleagues "reported the inevitability of conflict in detail, regularly and with the despair of Cassandra". The former senior officer alleges that in the years he served in Moscow (2011-16), in the UK things changed and "all was subjugated to the City, all served the interests of our lucrative status as a safe haven for corrupt, and corrupting, wealth".

I would love the Government to take P&O to Court only for it to be thrown out because of Grayling.

Just been looking for some new handlebar tape for my Van Nicholas titanium road bike. Naturally I went to the company's web site to get the proper branded product - got to maintain the image. VN are a Dutch company. The tape costs £10. Prior to Brexit this would have been with free shipping, now shipping is £40. Needless to say I am compromising on the artistic presentation of the bike.

With regard to helping them find new jobs, perhaps they can work on the ferries Failing Grayling organised. Edit: apparently Grayling signed off on a change of Law that meant the Government didn't need to be told..... https://news.sky.com/story/p-o-ferries-sackings-change-in-law-signed-of-by-chris-grayling-meant-p-o-didnt-need-to-tell-govt-maritime-lawyer-says-12572920

Didn't realise you were originally from the Phillipines;-)

Putin has limited scope for further re-integration of former Soviet/Russian territories; on his Western borders only Finland, ( lost to Russia after WW1 ) and Belarus are not in NATO, and to reach Moldova he is going to have to do much better in Ukraine. To the South he has been embroiled for years in the Caucasus, without really achieving much, and further East I am not sure he is really after the 'Stans. The other consideration is how much blood and treasure the current actions are costing him, and whether he would have the military capacity, or domestic support, to go further.

The thing is, what the NYT has actually said is that some of the emails on the laptop in question have been verified as Hunter Biden's. It has not said the laptop is his, or that the laptop was actually used to send or receive the messages. According to the Washington Post, the only eye witness to HB depositing the laptop in the repair shop is almost blind.

We will have to agree to disagree. I do not subscribe to the Global Conspiracy driven by the "MSM", you do. I am not going to try to change your opinion, no amount of reference to Fox News, SKY Australia, or Rudy Giuliani will change mine. Have a nice day.
-
I have done 'research', and have formed my opinion accordingly without 'immeciately' dismissing anything. How anybody can trust Rudy Giuliani is beyond me, but you are entitled to believe whatever you want. Just remember to keep wearing your tinfoil hat.
-
I refer you to my previous post. I wouldn't trust Sky Australia to tell me the sun is in the sky.

I have watched George Best put the ball over the bar from a central position on the edge of the goal area, any chance can be missed.

Just tell him you played in the Southern League - he'll never know if it's true or not.

What everybody needs to remember is that AA, Che, and Schlong all look worldies in training ---- because they are practicing against Fraser and Macca.

I suggest you pose your questions to those who can actually make the relevant decisions : the NATO politicians and Generals who don't want a NFZ. Surely they are the ones in possession of the data and intelligence on which actions can be based. They stated before the war started that they would not put troops into Ukraine, whether that encouraged Putin or not I don't know, and they have consistently continued to maintain that position in the 3 weeks since the 'Special Military Operation' kicked off. Remember, Putin's brain is wired differently. If you want my opinion, the West should have brought in the sanctions when Crimea was annexed. Is it just because this is happening in Europe that you think NATO should act ? Why did they not put a NFZ over Syria ? Or intervene in the Armenia / Azerbaijan conflict ?
-
It's part of their game - it forces NATO to do as much as they can short of a NFZ. Zelenskyy and his Ministers know that this is a NATO red line, the optics of an F-35 or Typhoon actively engaging an SU25 or MiG-29 that has deliberately entered restricted airspace will give Putin all the "proof" he needs to support his maniacal conspiracy theories about Western expansionism into Eastern Europe.

Any story that brings you, Scally, and Alexei76 together with Rudi Giuliani, Fox News, and Sky Australia has to be, at best, suspect. And as for 'still denying', I have neither confirmed or denied it's existence. However, I like this take on the affair..... https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/03/18/forgotten-and-ignored-context-emergence-hunter-biden-laptop-story/

Oh, that fairy tale.

NFZ also stops the Ukrainian airforce, stops their drones, and doesn't stop Russia's major weapon systems - artillery and ground launched missiles such as Grad.

Which has what to do with Trump ?

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.

That comment is wrong - in 2008/09 the Labour Government launched the "Next Generation" plan for nuclear power, it was the debate after Fukushima that stalled things, under the ConDem coalition. -
So now the Russians have reverted to their default plan B - 'liberating' people by bombing their cities back to the stone age.

Do you, like GM, never actually proof read what you post ? -
You are correct about the benefits of capitalism; just look at the example of the P&O workers sacked to make way for cheaper foreign labour. I am sure that the "opportunity" afforded them will be "embraced" with joy and thanks.
-
Of course, since I changed it some of the comments above no longer make sense.

Good job they are not coming back down any time soon; https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-60804949 "Russian cosmonauts have arrived at the International Space Station wearing Ukrainian colours, in what appears to be a statement opposing the invasion."
