Who would have thought that the 'oven ready deal' was 'no deal' ?
-
No self respecting comb would want to be near that thatch. It's only surpassed by the shredded wheat on Trump's bonce.
-
I don't think that's a concession, it's an appeal to the Supreme Court to find in favour of the Texas lawsuit because Joe Biden's son is subject to a tax investigation.

Politicians have very short memories, and these days little conscience.

Not the only ones ; https://www.theneweuropean.co.uk/brexit-news/parliament-has-been-flying-the-union-flag-upside-down-70954 The Houses of Parliament have been flying the union flag upside down, it has been claimed. Jacob Rees-Mogg described the reports as "deeply troubling" after Conservative MP Robert Courts suggested that it had been that way for "some time". He said: "I wouldn't want to be seen to be too much of a stickler for these things, but... the Union Jack above Portcullis House has been flying upside down for some time now. "This could be a mistake. I doubt that the building has surrendered to anybody, but could we have the debate in government time as to whether in fact the building is in distress or whether its the MPs within it that are in distress?" Leader of the House, Rees-Mogg, said "This is a deeply troubling matter that the Union Jack should be flying upside down."

Wes lives by a simple Orwellian creed; UK good EU bad.

We left on 31st Jan 2020. The transition period ends on 31st December 2020. Not like you to get that wrong. 😉

The first paragraph is mine, the second is basically from the linked site - but then again I didn't try to hide the fact. Most of the first paragraph summarises the Texas lawsuit, as submitted to the Court, so it that's MSM then so is the lawsuit. ( It's posted on the Internet and quite easily found if you want to make your oiwn mind up for a change ). Keep your tinfoil hat on, they're coming to find you. Out of interest, what OS do you use, what browser, what e-mail service, and what Social Media do you access ?

The whole idea of the appeal pisses on democracy and common sense. The case revolves around whether the organisation managing the election in a specific state can make administrative or scheduling changes without reference to that state's legislature. The Supreme Court has previously ruled that this is entirely within the law and constitution, as such regulations are purely devolved and of no interest to Federal institutions, and this time around various states made changes to bring key dates forward to account for mail-in ballots and extend voter access due to the pandemic. Each state named in the suit made different specific changes, but none referred up to their State Congress. Texas extended the early voting period for the November 3, 2020 general election, extending it by six days to open on October 13, 2020, instead of October 19, 2020, as originally scheduled. Rules were also changed so that voters were required to be notified if their absentee ballots might be rejected due to signature mismatch, and election officials were required to give such voters a 'meaningful opportunity to cure' their ballots. Absentee/mail-in return locations were limited to one per county. Ergo - Texas made changes in the same way that they are disputing in the other states. https://ballotpedia.org/Changes_to_election_dates,_procedures,_and_administration_in_response_to_the_coronavirus_(COVID-19)_pandemic,_2020

Yes, but trade with the US and China is less than half of our trade with the EU, and when you add that in it makes over 2/3rds of our total trade would be on WTO terms, rather than slightly over 20%.

Did I disagree with him ? Or merely elaborate ?

NewsMax and OANN only qualify as news outlets under the broadest possible definition. They make Fox News look like a red top tabloid.
-
Not interesting, just desperate, pathetic, anti-democratic, and against the constitution. States are individually responsible for how they regulate and administer elections, Texas cannot determine how any other state makes it's regulations. ( PS, Texas made exactly the same changes as they are complaining about in the swing states. The only difference is that Trump won, so they aren't crying to SCOTUS ).
-
Daily death toll in the US is now higher than 9/11.
-
Indeed, but until we can sort out FTAs with our top 3 trading partners, the vast majority of our international trade, ( approx 70% ), is liable to WTO terms and tariffs. Bigging up the deals with the Faroes, Kosovo, Palestine, and Leichtenstein is papering over an extremely large crack.

Put him on ignore, or at least refrain from reponding to him. 😉

"Traitors" ? I get the impression that the phrase was personal, rather than aimed collectively at Brexiteers.
-
There are 28 agreements, with @54 countries - most of which hardly show up on GOOGLE Earth, let alone on our trade statistics.
-
We have an 'Agreement in Principle" with Canada to roll over their deal with the EU in lieu of negotiating our own agreement, which the Canadian PM said could take years.
-
Compared to the EU trade it is.
-
Singapore is #20 on the list of UK trading partners, if the EU countries are listed individually, #13 if the EU bloc counts as one, with a little over 1% of UK international trade..
-
According to the Government; https://www.gov.uk/guidance/uk-trade-agreements-with-non-eu-countries#trade-agreements-from-1-january-2021 That makes about 54, if I have counted correctly and you are happy to count each Caribbean Island as a separate country. ( How much trade to we have with those Global trading giants St Lucia or Dominica ? ). There is also the UK-Pacific agreement, with Fiji and PNG, or the Eastern and Southern Africa one with Mauritius and the Seychelles - that should keep the Balance of Trade going. The list also includes the Ivory Coast, the Faroe Islands, and Leichtenstein. Of our top 10 trading partner nations, the only one we have an agreement with is Switzerland - #10. If you count the EU as a single entity, we do not have agreements with any of the top 3: the EU, the USA, and China.

Two recounts in GA, so three counts in all, all of which, unsurprisingly, returned the same result.
