  1. Come on June old girl, fess up - how much of your JSA do you donate ?
  2. I make the decisions as to which charities I donate money - Guide Dogs for the Blind, for family reasons, always get a donation when I pass a collection, and I have a 'Give as You Earn' deduction at source for the Marie Curie cancer trust. I also support the Lifeboats and some local animal welfare charities, such as Lurcher Link and the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Trust. So yah boo sucks to you, June.
  3. If you cannot hold up your side of a debate, you have run out of 'copy and paste' opportunities, and there are no YouTube videos to hand, you can always hide behind your keyboard and throw in an insult. ( Before anybody points it out, I realise that sometimes I allow myself to be drawn down to Dune's level. It makes me feel used, but sometimes you cannot avoid spontaneous reactions ).
  4. No, "he has 'learned' to post cheap attempts at point scoring like Dune". Comme ci :-
  5. Maybe he's learned it from Dune ?
  6. That line is so old, Ernie Wise rejected it.
  7. Rupert Lowe ?
  8. Nor do I, ( basically because it's untrue ), but as Dunce views anybody to the left of the grocer's daughter as a pinko commie subversive, it's something I've had to learn to tolerate. At least it distinguishes me from the fascist imperialist ****. ( That was deliberately typed as four asterisks so that you, dear reader, may substitute a four letter descriptive of your choice ).
  9. No, were you ?
  10. But you wouldn't, because that would mean having to go to work for a living.
  11. I didn't say there weren't many Anglophiles in the USofA, I merely said that I suspect they hold a particularly quaint view of what the UK means. Is reading and understanding written English too difficult for you ?
  12. Either that or it's 'Let's go over to quaint old England'. After all, they fought a war to rid themselves of the House of Hannover.
  13. And, of course, Paris, with it's palaces and long monarchist history, is a tourist free zone. Do you think the tourists would stop coming if Buck House was fully opened to the public as a national museum ?
  14. If the fixtures are due to be announced on 18th June, then any possible change to the leagues due to a pompey default would have to be very soon. If they limp on only to die beyond then, presumably League 1 will be a team short.
  15. I don't have 'bitterness and resentment' towards the Monarchy, I couldn't care less about them - it's the sycophancy, hagiography, and fawning that surrounds them; 3 of the Queen's 4 children are divorced, the future 'Defender of the Faith' carried on with a married woman behind his wife's back, and the Duke of Edinburgh is 'good for a laugh', but if he was your or my Grandfather he would be shut away to avoid embarrassment, yet somehow they are all so 'wonderful' and an example to us all. ( Mind you, looking at that list, they probably are ! ). It's the unaccountable facet of their influence, the idea that God gives them a validity that is above scrutiny, that I do not accept and feel that a republic would put right. What exactly does the Monarchy afford to GB that the French, Germans, or Americans lack due to their political structure ? I have no problem with monarchists, but the triumphalist crowing and bleating, and claiming that republicans are somehow not allowed to describe themselves as British, is sheer b0ll0x.
  16. Yesterday we were at an event in Fleetwood where my wife was supervising children from her class in a talent show - which they won. Today we were in Lancaster where my youngest was playing in the Catholic Cathedral. Does this count ?
  17. Just keep bowing and scraping, I'm sure the Windsors appreciate it.
  18. What a great line of argument. It has put your point over quite eloquently.
  19. Yep, lets continue living in the past and bathing in the glory of an Empire that has been consigned to ( a less than glorious ) history. Maybe things won't 'improve' as a republic, but it's easy to opt for 'no change' and to stagnate.
  20. Very proud to be British Aren't we all, dearie. You don't have to believe in the divine right of a German to rule over us all to qualify as British.
  21. Self praise is no recommendation.
  22. Jeez, you are so blindingly hilarious. How come you've never been signed up for the Royal Variety Show ? As Eleanor Bron said in the first Secret Policeman's Ball, "Pr!ck !"
  23. Your loss.
  24. Gemmel, as an arch-monarchist, could you please explain exactly what it is that Queen Elisabeth II has DONE ? Other than travel the world in luxury, shake hands with specially screened people, and wave a lot.
