  1. Kind of you to say so, but it has more than it's fair share of dereliction. ( And they still don't have a complete football ground ).
  2. Going round work, and as that is Bloomfield Road there may be some credence, that we have bid £1M for Martinez. Anything heard at that end ? http://www.backhenrystreet.co.uk/Thread-Angel-Martinez-to-Southampton
  3. From BBC Question Time, "Are bankers human?" http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-18642323
  4. So why did our fellow poster pose the opening premise ?
  5. As opposed to the bland yet condescending robotic persona of Dave ? I get the impression that every time he opens his mouth it pains him to have to communicate to the serfs who elected him. I suspect that just about every other leader in the EU is laughing at him behind his back.
  6. Dunce takes another opportunity to mock people who fail to meet his eugenic standards.
  7. No, but I might be his dad ! There are a couple of drunken nights when I was a student that I have very little memory of. As for the location of Triglav's ground, I've driven past it. I've also walked around the lower slopes of the mountain of that name, you wouldn't want to try to play footie up there.
  8. Pedant alert ! He'd be 400 feet above the top of the mountain. Triglav FC play in Kranj, which is on the central part of Slovenia, just north of Ljubliana. As for his illustrious recent career - he transferred to Triglav on 31st Dec 2011, and playing in front of an average gate of less than 600, has made 5 starts and 5 appearances as unused substitute. In his 5 starts he kept 2 clean sheets, and conceded 15 goals, including an 8 -0. ( As far as I can determine from a swift perusal of t'Interweb ). Fourpast would probably be better.
  9. Not at all. Every day brings more condemnation of the casino capitalists, and more shame upon politicians of all hues who were blinded by the easy money that slavish devotion to Mammon appeared to deliver.
  10. Don't mind the away strip, but the home shirt just isn't right. Still, I'm sure they'll change it again next year.
  11. But presumably it is the right kind of snow ?
  12. The political development of a young woman : "She started out Conservative, became too Liberal, and ended up in Labour"
  13. As requested elsewhere, and given the sudden popularity of cycling related threads, a thread to discuss any aspect of this year's version of the world's greatest cycling event. I suppose the big question is - Can Wiggo win it ? ALso, will Cav retain the Green Jersey ?
  14. So was that uber fat-cat Eric Pickles, when he was at school.
  15. They are paved road, and certainly are good to watch during the TdF, though when you see it like this
  16. What I find refreshing about the Rangers situation is that it seems the SFL clubs appear to want to stick strictly to the rules, under which Rangers newco will have to apply for a place in Div3. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18591278
  17. Apologies, I think I had set it to share with 'friends', which means you would need to be registered on MMR and be accepted as such. Try it now. http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/45779252.
  18. If you're mad enough, when you come up here you can try the Bowland Fells : http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/45779252. In a few weeks there's an 'organised' ride around the area called the Bowland Badass; it's only 166 miles, with 18500 feet of climbing - and I am defo NOT participating !
  19. Like the rest of us in the Public Sector. If you could strike, or otherwise protest in an attempt to protect your Ts & Cs, would you ?
  20. It's not the 'suits' in the NHS that are the problem, it's the pillocks in Whitehall and Westminster.
  21. As opposed to Dave & Georgie Porgy who think you can improve them with less ?
  22. Dark Star and Silent Running are right up there in the film arena. The best Star Trek film, for me, is the latest one. On TV Babylon 5 seems to be one that splits folk into those that are huge fans, and those that think it is abysmal - I fall into the former, I thought it was brilliant. I also used to like "Space - Above and Beyond", and V. The genre in literature is so vast that it's difficult to be selective, but Philip K D!ck is so influential to modern productions, and I also like Isaac Asimov's writings. ( In 5 minutes time I'll have remembered a whole load of different stuff ).
  23. If ministers stopped interfering and allowed the Public Sector to actually get on with their jobs it would help. They have to be 'seen to be doing something' or be judged ineffectual, so we get a continuous merry-go-round of policy changes or the latest 'initiative' thought up by some bright young thing, or ivory tower ensonced intellectual with no experience of the real world. Huge amounts of money are wasted in closing down or reversing current practice or projects, especially in ICT. ( And that's a jibe aimed at ALL politicos, not just the current melange ). Also, look at the amounts being spunked out for over valued PFI arrangements, - to the extent that we are about to see an NHS Trust go into liquidation.
  24. Jeremy Kyle could help her find out.
