Fergie on the radio gave us credit and said it took Paul Scholes, ( the most experienced, and possibly still the best, midfielder in the country ), to turn the game. Also, plenty of comments praising Saints and supporting Nigel, and quite right too.
It's easy with hindsight to criticise the substitutions, but if J-Rod had scored we'd all be lauding Nigel. We lost becaue one of our centre backs got tired and sliced a clearance out for a corner, from which he failed to adequately mark the best striker in Europe.
We have now held the lead against the 2 best teams in the league - we can compete and we should take confidence into the games to come, plus we have new players to come in and justify their price tags and reputations.
Just to put the defence into perspective - this is possibly the best attack they will face all season, if not it's certainly the second best after Man City's.
So with a slightly firmer contact of his shin he would have saved it. Shots straight at the keeper can be very hard to judge, how often to they go between their legs ?
As far as I know the ONLY major trophy HR has won was the one that poopey bought with the tax man's money. He's is ancient history as far as Saints are oncerned.
( Plus, I wouldn't wipe my @rse with that pathetic rag. ).
