Don't fancy Vlaar. De Vrij would be brilliant but he'll probably be off elsewhere. Van Dijk and Manga look promising enough but I haven't seen either of them play, Van Dijk once or twice.
-
Looks like Bony might be off to Liverpool. Could be a good signing, shame they're interested because otherwise I'd have been inclined to throw money at him

I can't figure out whether your pub comment is supposed to be a clue. Is it because Pelle is very attractive and would give the village a continental appeal?

Gary Jacobs in this morning's Times reporting that Arsenal may spend £30m on a goalkeeper, defender and holding midfielder. He adds that they may sell players including Rosicky, Vermaelen and (interestingly) Cazorla. £30m isn't enough to sign Morgan/Bender/Khedira plus two decent others, but they'd probably get ~£15m for Cazorla and ~£10m for Vermaelen.

"If the negotiations do break down, Southampton might look to FC Twente’s Luc Castaignos as another possible replacement for Rickie Lambert."

Very nice indeed

Liverpool in for Ben Davies

How will he sleep at night?

Lloris has signed a new five year deal with Tottenham. I must say I'm very impressed, he must believe strongly in Pochettino.
-
I don't think fitting him and Tadic together will be any easier. Doubt he'll do much for us but I'd love to be proved wrong

Adam Lallana would wreak absolute havoc in the Eredivisie

Gary Jones is so bad I can't even bring myself to smile at this (I do take it you're joking!)
-
I'd say that makes it likely. They are friends after all
-
If he were unable to keep fit as a #2 that would be a reason to sell him, not to keep him as first choice. Nope! Doubt they'll sign more than one or two without selling, they've got a huge and unsettled squad as it is.

There will be a domino effect when everyone's back from the World Cup and the big deals start going through. Suarez signing and Van Gaal's arrival at United will get things moving
-
I think mates are the old twitter!
-
The BBC's Ben Smith has said that none of their spending to date has been 'reliant on Suarez's sale' - i.e. not using the Suarez money
-
Says he's looking at this kind of player to score 10-15 goals in a season. Doesn't ask for much does he?
-
Chances are we're enquiring after multiple players for one spot but if it is six we intend to bring in then I would expect the last one to be another centre half or attacking mid.

Thanks very much Monk. I think we all had some niggling reservations about Pelle, despite his style and scoring record. I hope we're not considering Ings or whoever as our only signing up front though. Even with a much-improved Gallagher we probably need two. Off the top of my head have had recent-ish press links with Pelle, Van Dijk, Kolodziejczak, Marshall, Manga and this Traore kid from Barca. Nothing on Ings in the media for quite a while but a strong hint from Guan a few days ago.

I don't know if it's been mentioned but it appears that Dejan is on holiday with Guly

That got my heart going a little bit, but you can see straight away the difference between Eredivisie defenders and the types he'll be facing in the Premier League. Glad he likes contact.

The visible ongoing interest from Katharina Liebherr and testimony to her commitment from people around the club.

Erm, yes it does. Comes with rave reviews from the Netherlands - the best player in their league according to plenty of experts. Very impressive scoring/assist record as well. We've had a few Dutch fans come here to tell us how much they like him. On that point actually: Dutch friends, if you're reading, how would you compare Tadic to Christian Eriksen, Kevin Strootman or other Eredivisie stars who've gone on to shine in other leagues? I assume if he was as good as Eriksen we'd have faced stiffer competition for his signature, but it would be nice to know...

Funny little passage in this write-up of Tadic: "While Groningen fell apart the next season, the Eastern European continued to impress, and with another seven goals and nine assists in the league, he earned himself a transfer to FC Twente. The fixture list for 2012-13 could not be crueller to Groningen fans as Tadic made his debut in a home game against his former team. The forward singlehandedly beat his former club, aiding Twente with scoring twice and setting up a further two assists in a 4-0 thumping."
