  1. Hahaha bloody hell
  2. As a normal fella who frequently aims too high I can tell you it's quite simple to just talk to people!
  3. It is slowly dawning on men that what they see as 'harmless banter' can actually be quite threatening. Take a look at this, for example. It really is an eye opener. As for getting laid - not harassing anyone is a good start. How many times have you seen a creepy fella in a club actually go home with someone?
  4. Wrongly for sure. It's sexual assault in both cases but men are more likely to laugh it off because they are in a position of power and do not often feel threatened by women who make advances. That is an immense privilege for us men and we ought to recognise it. Every woman you will ever meet has a story of a man who has made them uncomfortable, unwelcome or intimidated by an advance or unsolicited comment. It makes them so because men are a danger to women in a way that women aren't to men. Anyway, not sure this Sun story is really worth a thread like this, half way house between feminist discussion and excuse for a bunch of leery old men to reel off their favourite sexual jokes.
  5. This sounds exactly like Pochettino when he was with us. I hope that's a good thing. (we say the full backs are high to mean further forward - deep means further back)
  6. None of us know how he's doing, certainly not well enough to decide he should leave. The mistake was making him the club's public face. Understandable given his pedigree as a speaker but in hindsight it might have been better to put Reed in front of the cameras after the first round of quotes. Nobody thinks Hofstetter should resign as chief financial officer but I bet they would if he gave a couple of bumbling interviews.
  7. I'm going to throw Keilor Navas (Costa Rica's keeper, currently at Levante) into the mix. Looks good.
  8. Good. Hope we aren't trying to match QPR's wage offer though.
  9. Now that's a kit
  10. I'll give you Lampard, but would you honestly have left out Gerrard or Johnson considering the alternatives? Don't buy this at all. Gerrard's just had one of his best ever seasons for Liverpool playing deep, but England don't play the system that enables him to do what he did best for them. For Liverpool he's thrived as the sole deep midfielder dictating the tempo with two team mates giving the legs and dropping back from time to time. That more than covered his lack of energy, even in the fast-paced PL, because he could use his passing to help the tempo. Quite similar to what Pirlo does for Italy, actually. But England play with a flat two and it just doesn't work. Some elements of the old Lampard/Gerrard mismatch in there. Next tournament, whether it's Hodgson or not, we need to get away from a flat midfield two or four.
  11. Got to say I agree. New era begins when we're out of this World Cup. The next manager has got some good raw talent to mold in his image. Vital thing is we get coach and squad who can pass and move dynamically. We'll miss plenty about Gerrard when he retires, but he's lacked that in the last few years. That empty midfield slot presents us with an opportunity to inject some impetus to an area in which we failed tonight. Not sure who's up to it, mind. Given the right coaching I think two of Barkley, Wilshere and Henderson might make a good modern midfield pair in future, though none are defensively solid. Ward-Prowse has the potential to come in further down the line. It was clear the old generation was wilting at the Euros but the youngsters weren't there to fill their shoes. Roy's squad was forward-thinking but sadly his coaching wasn't and Gerrard/Rooney were a hindrance.
  12. Gutted. Uruguay were the better team and there's no shame in that but we could easily have won that game. Defensive frailty, no grip on midfield and a few poorly taken chances cost us. At least qualification is still a possibility. All it takes is a couple of Italy wins and us beating Costa Rica by two goals. Biggest worry is that if Italy are on six points by the time they play Uruguay, they'd only need a point to top the group so wouldn't go all out for a win.
  13. If the squad welcomed him back then so would I. I expect Koeman would prefer the money if we can get a decent sum but either way we will be making a couple of signings up front.
  14. Fonte, though Lovren is a born leader. Not sure Morgan is vocal enough on the pitch.
  15. I just knew we'd play Liverpool early in the season! Other notable points: -Man City away last day of the season -Even tougher Christmas period than this season. City (H), Arsenal (A), Man Utd (H) consecutively at the start of December and Chelsea (H), Arsenal (H), Man Utd (A) at the end and into January. Cannot afford another injury crisis! -A reasonable enough run-in, facing Everton, Hull, Stoke, Spurs, Sunderland, Leicester, Villa and City in the last two months, though Everton and City are both away
  16. Thanks for outing yourself. To answer your question, use of the term has (rightly) been tightened by broadcasters. It is highly, highly loaded. Newspapers are still more liberal in their use.
  17. Do we have any reason to believe this guy is anything other than a wind-up merchant?
  18. Or lots of good things were happening last season and now things are a bit more negative so they're reporting accordingly. Praising us for our luscious passing football in the close season is not news. I honestly think if you asked football writers and broadcasters to name their favourite PL teams we'd be up there for most of them. Every club has paranoid fans but it really takes the biscuit if people think the media hate Saints at the moment.
  19. Mancini would be a poor fit in terms of philosophy and team management, but he's so damn good that I probably wouldn't care. Won't happen though. Very, very strongly linked with Serie A, and you know if there was a whiff of a PL return we'd be hearing about it already.
  20. About as good as it gets. Cheers Les. Wonder whether his comment about first choices 'maybe going somewhere else' are a reference to a specific manager?
  21. Did this happen?
  22. Archie Bland is at his best when he's not writing about himself
  23. Spot on. Pochettino didn't fancy him at all (defensive workrate/ability an issue?) but from where I was sat he didn't look out of his depth in the brief appearances he did make.
  24. Nobody's happy when they're not playing. What's important is that they keep working hard, stay professional and do well when they're called upon, which those players undoubtedly have done. (Well, Hooiveld wasn't great but he didn't throw a strop) If all you get is a couple of grumbles from players who aren't getting a game then you're presiding over a harmonious squad. By all accounts we've had that over the last few years and it sounds like Pochettino only strengthened our unity.
