  1. Newcastle aren't going anywhere fast. If they played for, say, Everton* I'd say the same as I do of our players. I think you'd be deluded to expect Lallana and Shaw to stay forever if they keep playing like this. But one more season, maybe two? There's every chance. *I appreciate Everton are better than us and a bigger club, but they're the closest to our position in terms of promise for the future
  2. Some of these kits are horrible! Rank Xerox or nuttin'
  3. Glad the Echo's getting access again. The piece reinforces the fact that we've got to be patient and nothing's certain.
  4. Excellent news all round. Thanks very much for sharing. Do you know if he meant British players specifically or just players from British clubs?
  5. Had some cracking trips this year - Anfield and Old Trafford the obvious highlights but I really enjoyed West Brom as well. Nothing like an away win to kick off the season.
  6. Terrific news. Hope she succeeds.
  7. Good news! Thanks for sharing
  8. Careful, you're sounding more like 4chan than reddit now
  9. I'd think Redknapp was taking the **** a bit, but only because he's failed this season and isn't in a great position to demand much from the board. Pochettino is doing what every good manager will this summer - Rodgers, Pulis, Martinez et all will all be talking to the powers that be looking for transfer money. Pulis has already started, and he's being far less subtle about it than Pochettino. There are only a handful of clubs that aren't stepping stones if the big boys come calling. Doesn't mean Pochettino will leave now or in the forseeable, and certainly not for Spurs. The question is whether, in their current states, Southampton to Spurs is much of a step. Adkins would have left if he was offered the United job.
  10. Mmm. Imagine if Cork got a question about his future!
  11. Makes what harder? We haven't sold anybody yet.
  12. No they don't. The article explicitly names three candidates.
  13. Sorry? All I mean is they've said the right things ahead of the summer, which is when they need to act. I imagine Adam is waiting for that, same as us.
  14. Up until he left Adam wasn't a good enough footballer to be interesting Champions League clubs. Katharina and the new board have shown every sign that they want to take the club forward, though the real test of that is yet to come. We've ruled out plenty of theories about Cortese's departure, such as an impending sale of the club. The obvious explanation for me is that Katharina wanted him to be more accountable and dilute his powers by bringing in a board.
  15. The only error is to regard it as clear one way or the other. It was all very ambiguous, which reflects the uncertainty we all know is there. I don't think it changes anything - if the club can prove their ambition to the players and the manager, then they are happy to stay. We've just seen the raw face of that anxiety. No, that's not why he left.
  16. I wouldn't bet on that. Who followed Bale out of Spurs? It doesn't work that way.
  17. Well, aren't you a treat. Graceful and grateful in equal measure!
  18. The question clearly made him uncomfortable. He said he's had 'great memories' with us and that he'll 'always love the club', but then said he hopes to progress with Southampton and wants us to push on and build in the summer. IMy interpretation was that he wants reassurances that staying is worth his while but if not, he's off. Rubbish. I think they will.
  19. Oof, not sure what to make of that answer. I think between his tone/body language and his words about progressing and building in the summer, I get the impression he'll seriously consider leaving if we don't take big steps before next season.
  20. Cool as a cucumber. He even assaulted someone!
  21. Terry picks Jack Cork for the President's Choice award. Nice one
