It's like reading Reddit this, bloody hell Van Wolfswinkel is a good shout for the top 10, not sure Demichelis deserves to be included.

Truly remarkable achievement to have two homegrown Southampton players in the team of the year. One is 18 years old and the other has come up with the club from League One. Delighted for them. However, I agree with a few on here who aren't convinced Shaw should be on there. He's been the most impressive left back by far, considering his age, and that will have won him votes, but I'm not sure he's been the best. Azpilicueta can feel hard done by. I also think Kolarov has been better than Shaw this year but Pelligrini hasn't given him enough of a run in the team to make an impression on everybody I suppose. Baines is always up there. Also surprised to see Kompany ahead of Terry or Koscielny.

I don't think so. He's done okay but doesn't stand out in what is a very poor Norwich team.

Crosses in? Gary Hooper's five foot nine!

Yeah, that's possible.

Have you seen Jack Cork's quote from yesterday? It's clear as day the players are on board if the club is, and the club are making the right noises. Krueger's right to say that, having said their bit, it's action that's next for the club. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
No but they would have done with Clyne, Rodriguez, Lovren and Wanyama. They've made some great signings and in hindsight I wish we'd got Bony but they're not doing anything we're not. We've both had hits and misses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There are only two differences between that and what's actually been said: 1. They've said we won't sell players who Pochettino wants to keep, not that we won't sell anyone. That's common sense - we'll offload some fringe players and would happily take £60m for Jack Cork. Anything can happen and you don't want to look stupid/dishonest, so Reed was about as hard-nosed as you can realistically be 2. No swearing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
You can get good and bad from anywhere. Bony was a top scorer in a mediocre league. It's incredibly difficult to get right but all you can do is keep trying. I certainly wouldn't use Osvaldo as a reason to avoid expensive and/or foreign players. I would think twice, however, about signing from Serie A Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh please, these fans are deluded. Any fan who understands the limits of our club knows we need Rodriguez. Bet they clapped as well. Don't buy the party line.

Entirely possible. We should compare Saints attendances with yachts docked. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That makes sense. Most teenagers who break into English teams manage it at that age because they're tough enough, because even the most talented kids can get it beaten out of them at the top level. That's what makes Ward-Prowse all the more impressive for me - he's a slender lad playing in one of the toughest positions on the pitch but his awareness and ability to find space gets him through it. He doesn't let people near him too often. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Can't argue with that. Good list all round actually, I'd completely forgotten Ilori existed! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is A Trolling Attempt All good reading. Glad his comments about progress up the table were firm without naming league positions. They're only sticks to be beaten with if they don't happen, or happen immediately. Especially pleased he said he'd rather deliver actions than words. The words are useful for now though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
They're right to be annoyed with the performance I think. You always watch your own team with more scrutiny and they didn't really show up today, some of them. If we'd watched that game as neutrals it'd be easier for us to see their failings and them to see our virtues. It's the same when we get beat by lesser teams. Sometimes you get total injustices like Villa where it's clear as day but Norwich away is a good example of being bettered on the day and only seeing how we cocked it up. I think Johnson is a better choice for England than Clyne. On his day he's the best right back in the league and while he has off days for Liverpool, he doesn't for England. No way of knowing how Clyne will fare if he gets brought into the fold but Johnson is a sure bet.
-
Baines is a better player than Shaw at present. He had a poor game today and hasn't been in scintillating form but has far too much quality and experience to leave out of the starting XI. I was going to start a thread on Clyne though. Roy's still watching and if Pochettino keeps him in the team for the last two games I really think he's got a shot. Johnson's a shoe-in for the squad but Walker isn't really impressing. There is a good chance, however, that Hodgson won't take two out-and-out right backs and will instead rely on Jones and Smalling for cover. Which is fair enough, really.
-
I think he looks about as ready as anyone could expect. It's a hard, hard role to play at that age and only a few very special cases can pull it off in their teens. Strikers need games for confidence, and considering our comfortable league position it's beneficial for the club to give him that chance to find his feet. I'm more than happy to keep him in the starting XI for the last two games.

It wouldn't be great. Davis is the lubricant that links those two lines when Lambert is on the shoulder. I don't think the third holding player would add more (necessary) cover for the back four than Wanyama does already. I can only imagine us putting three all across the back line if we're away at a top team, they're throwing the kitchen sink at us and we're holding on for a really important result. We're an attacking side and we're still figuring out how to keep our foot on the gas with Wanyama in the team - throwing another defensive midfielder in there isn't the answer. Schneiderlin wants to attack more and has the ability to do that but that doesn't mean we need to play him further forward. Some of the very best central midfielders (Toure, Pirlo, Xavi, Vieira) score or set up goals from a deep starting position. That's what he needs to aspire to. Any player to improve on Davis needs to add creativity and a couple of goals to his passing tempo and awareness.

Beautiful. That's looking out for your team mates and your club above number one.

Well, you couldn't have blamed the ref for getting the Osman one wrong. Oliver did incredibly well to spot it in real time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Long way to go yet. Wilshere, Barkley, Henderson, Cleverley and others all have time and potential to improve. Hell, even Ward-Prowse might be in the reckoning by then. Gerrard, Barry and Carrick might have bowed out though, which opens up spaces. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
