Despite a decent record in Germany he is almost universally despised there: http://gu.com/p/3bx7v/tw

Absolutely, and even though Ashton's article is poorly conceived at least some of the flak is now being directed in Reed's direction. Seems to be a bit of an unpopular view on the mongboard though.
-
Not sure there where was any ever substance to this link. Simon Peach said he would be a good candidate, so Alex Crook & co. latched onto this and badgered him for quotes about the job after Poch finally left.

Nice one Glasgow

Tom Egbers @primadeluxe · 19m Ronald Koeman is benaderd door Southampton voor d e functie van manager. Ronald Koeman has been approached by Southampton for the position of manager. Egbers is a Dutch sports journalist.

Increasingly excited about this potential appointment. Let's hope the board are on form and sell Koeman the club as best they can (please Ralphy no talk of marketing staff recruited from Apple!) Just looking at his goal scoring record as a CB - it is absolutely staggering! Managed 26 for PSV in one season and 19 for Barca in another. 239 in 685 games in total! Obviously means nothing with regard to his managerial skills, but could certainly see the likes of Lovren being content playing under someone with such a high profile.

If Moyes were appointed t'would be humorous watching him try and put the brakes on a move (Shaw to Utd) that he put so much effort into in the first place.

A feeling in your water dragged up a thread from October?

Note to Poch: that is how to write a farewell letter. Goodbye Rickie, it is has been an absolute blast. Never been so happy and proud for one man as I was when he thumped in that goal vs. Scotland. Always will be a Saints legend.

I think the second part is in relation to transfers in and out. Though given the consistently negative and defensive rhetoric of our new board, one could be tempted to assume that they are just referencing players sold.
-
Yep. All his waffle about being an expert in developing 'leadership models' exposed to be rather hollow guff from a supposed motivational-guru. If the 'leadership model' he is implementing was a football formation, he'd be playing the false bloody nine - aspiring to lead from the front but in reality not really sure where his best position lies, lacking in quality service, and projecting an image of toothless incompetence.
-
It is certainly annoying. But as Blackmore said, these group of players have never been a problem before, so why the issues now? Steven Gerrard was very critical of Reed in his autobiography so our players aren't the first to be frustrated with his methods.
-
Dear, oh dear. Clueless Kat and wreck-it Ralph have really set phasers to self-destruct. Fear that we need a manager whose remit is more than just first-team coach to set the ambition and direction for the season, as the mounting anecdotal evidence suggests it isn't going to come from above.
-
Some decent insights here, but not sure why players would be hacked off with just Les Reed and not Cortese or Poch for nearly selling Lambert in Jan. Also, RK was in Burton on 'club duties' not Ukraine.
-
Les Reed sucked up as much power he could when new board came in. Who were KL and RK to stop him? They aren't football people.

Even if they are thinking lets cash in on these 5-6 players while they are at their peak value and use the funds to strengthen the squad overall, I feel they are hopelessly misguided. The turnaround of players is going to be so huge that we'll really struggle to get any cohesion going at the start of the season and could well be the sort of situation that Sunderland found themselves in last year. Lots saying it is decent business, but you can't underestimate the talismanic qualities of someone like Lambert - why sell that off for a mere £4m? Also, what calibre of player is going to want to actually join us if we are just flogging off the best assets? If we do sell off Lambert, we'd need to get in a decent replacement ASAP to halt the exodus, but with no manager in place, what hope do we have? It's a complete farce.

Jeff don't get hysterical.

The most dramatic volte-face I've witnessed on this forum that's all. You are happy to keep making attention-seeking threads that deride those with concerns about the board as 'hysterical' and set yourself up as the 'sensible' one, so just pointing out the hypocrisy of it. As for debating, I think your arguments are starting to unravel somewhat...

Haha brilliant. You have to laugh in moments like these or you'd despair. Ralphy, Ralphy, Ralphy...
