Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
Toon Saint replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
Medical tomorrow apparently, according to ESPN: http://www.espn.com/soccer/soccer-transfers/story/3560431/denmark-defender-jannik-vestergaard-to-have-southampton-medical-sources Fair play if true, looks like Wilson is actually getting sh1t done this window. He looks like the profile of CB we need, on paper at least. Just a striker, Boufal replacement, and back-up GK and RB to go... -
What’s Clasie got to do with Marlon? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That’s written by Luke Osman who just writes for a Saints fan site. Doubt if it’s based on any actual knowledge of his performances. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thought the word around the club was that they were still hopeful Carrillo could have an impact after a full pre-season. Glad that Hughes has been decisive on the issue though and he has clearly made his mind up that he’s not good enough. Hopefully we can transfer him out and recoup some of what we paid for him, and move on from the debacle. What a total desperation signing he was. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not if we continue to play with three centre backs. Four players for three positions doesn’t provide much cover. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m in two minds about Boufal. On the one hand I think it would be difficult to find a player as naturally gifted for the money we paid for him. He is one of those players that, in flashes, has the tantalising prospect of being a world-beater. Given he hasn’t really demonstrated any consistency at all, and is generally quite maddening, it’s currently hard to see him achieving that, but then none of our attacking players have covered themselves in glory over the past two seasons. Maybe a fresh start with Hughes, in a less stultifying system, will be the kick-start he needs. However if we get a decent offer for him this window (given we are always knocking back enquiries!) then you’d have to look at the likes of Gaston, who never really kicked on, and say the reward may outweigh the risk involved. Difficult one. I’ll get off the fence at some point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The handbrake (Les) is off. Wee Ross means business. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I noticed in the Armstrong ‘behind the scenes’ video, that Wilson ushered him into an office marked ‘Vice chairman’, which of course would normally be Les’ office and therefore you’d expect the usual meet and greet. He’s either been moved aside or the club is purposefully playing down his influence. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Waiting for the medical results, according to our man from VG. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

@arilasos [emoji837]⚪️[emoji837] DONE DEAL! Mohamed Elyounoussi has agreed terms with Southampton, according to VG sources. He will travel to England tonight. A medical is scheduled tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Could be our first choice CB target with Gibson as back-up, considering we haven’t bid for the latter yet. If Everton pip us to this one then at least we should be able to go back in for Gibson unchallenged. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Let’s hope he’s half as good as the last Mo who played for Basel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think Everton will need to get rid of players before buying more. Leicester can have Boufal instead. Fingers crossed on this one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pretty clear that the old boy has been shunted aside given the lack of smug quotes from him in the Armstrong unveiling, and off the back of the Jeremy Wilson article last week. Given that wee Ross has assumed Les’ old responsibilities, in title at least, for some time now, it looks like we should now be directing any flak his way. At least Les can now put his full focus into taking out the bins. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There is definitely a point in here. Listening to the usually mild-mannered Adam Leitch on the last Total Saints Podcast of the season, he was surprised that our fans didn’t make clear our discontentment during the Man City game after survival was virtually secured. The fear being that the board think they’ve gotten away with it. There are a lot of things to be angry about as a Saints fan at the moment, but the anger isn’t organised into anything coherent, it just flares up on occasion on boards like these or on twitter. It’s so easy for the board to either ignore or swat away. I don’t advocate the violent protests of the West Ham fans last season for one minute, but looking at how the way they have overhauled their recruitment system and brought in a proven top class manager, it does demonstrate the effect that sustained and organised fan pressure can have on the owners of a club. Lazy Les and the Wee man must be clapped-out after the stress of last season, even after their recent holiday. Arguably we require a new CB, back-up GK and RB, winger, AM and CF, as it stands. Anyone actually think those two possess the decisiveness and energy levels to complete 4-5 signings, in a shortened transfer window, after flogging Tadic? If we get reasonable offers for Boufal, Bertrand or Cedric, then they too will need replacing. All indications are this will be a rather miserable transfer window, especially when so many teams around us appear to have caught us up in terms of approach to recruitment. He does like Hughes as he said on multiple occasions when interviewed that Southampton need to keep him as manager - though notably he didn’t refer to ‘we’. Les will chalk this one up as another lifestyle choice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agree it’s not an issue about an unwillingness to spend money. For me it’s purely a competency issue. Do we trust lazy Les and work-shy Wilson to overhaul the squad in time for the start of the PL season? We need 3-4 new players minimum and then good replacements for every key player that leaves. Only 7 weeks to go and it looks like we are about to sell our only consistently creative player, with only Gibson on the horizon as an incoming. Poor start to the window, IMO. Actually that would be if we signed Geoff Cameron. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Made what up? There have been multiple reports about Tadic leaving to Ajax, Duncan did say Tadic wanted out, and we did sell Fonte, Lambert and Pelle before their contracts finished. The rest of course is conjecture, but then most of this forum is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
