That's possibly the best post I've ever seen on here.
-
I know the logical side of everything says the RM rumours are just lazy journos, but this club's been such a dumpster fire in recent years, I'm still getting anxious there's an element of truth in it. I'd be fucking LIVID. I think Sports Republic would probably go down as our worst ever owners if they were to do that, and we've had Rupert Lowe.
-
Come on, the team RM took over was better than this one! And no, I thought Still had to go. I said so a week or two ago.
-
The squad he inherited wasn't as damaged or as bloated as this one
-
Even the notion of a rumour fills me with dread!
-
I'd have him, skate links and all. I'm just petrified they're going to get RM back.
-
I like him, I think he'll be a good manager somewhere (and I think he's been a good manager in France already) but I just don't think he's the right fit here. Players doing repeatedly stupid things kinda smacks of them not being arsed because they don't fear the consequences. I've heard him coaching in French, and it sounds like a different guy to the one coaching in English. Far more assertive and commanding. No idea why that is, but the bottom line for me is that this team needed picking up by its bootstraps just like Ralph did in 2018, and I don't think WS is the guy to do it. I want him to be, I really do. I'd love to think differently, but I just don't think he's 'the guy', and all the while he's here we're going to tank. I don't blame him one bit, though. I blame the muppets at the top who think they're more clever than they actually are. We do actually need a Big Sam, Dyche or Moyes type in here now. I don't care about sexy football or 'philosophies'- 4 wins in 50. That's what I care about. We need a manager who has the nous and the clout to go against the board, fight on behalf of his players and bring results despite the people at the top. We need new people running the club and spending Solak's money more than a new manager.

He's got to go, I've changed after that one. Shame, I want him to succeed but that was abysmal. Sport Republic can go with him, absolute clowns.

Lambos of the 60s and 70s, maybe, but no. If I had to buy a Ferrari I'd buy a 355 and drive a Mazda 3 to work every day! The modern ones just look awful.
-
I noticed that too. Worrying!
-
None of them.

Exactly this. Still did his job. We conceded nothing and created a fucktonne of chances. The players wasted all of them. That's on them.

For anyone needing a football fix this Saturday!
kitch replied to WinglessWonder's topic in The Saints
I'm one of them. My workshop is in the estate being Cams. Can sometimes hear the crowd if I'm working on a Saturday. Nice idea, don't worry about the PO postcode sillyness. The Isle of Wight has a PO postcode FFS 😄 I'll try to make it down to a game or two this season, just silly busy at the moment. -
When did I say it was? I responding to the notion that all the new signings were sanctioned by Still, when they clearly weren't.
-
That was two years ago! Players aren't robots, they get better and they get worse. You're seriously suggesting that we're not lightweight in goal, at full back or at centre forward? Azaz and Fellows - agreed. Good Championship players, and it's up to WS to get a tune out of them. Jander also looks good, Scienza likely the same. Arma is a proven scorer at this level and our best player (IMO) is Charles. But that's not the whole team.
-
He's been here 5 mins, really. I'd be amazed if any of these were WS signings. Downes had been on the club's radar for several years.
-
In fairness, if you were going to do that, surely bring in a no.1 on loan and have Baz or Macca as 3rd choice? You've upgraded all three FT keepers that way.
-
Still have time for Still, personally. His record in France was good (yeah yeah, different league, but it's not a different sport) and he's young. He's shown his willingness to be adaptable and wants to win at all costs. Seems a good guy, without ego. My only concern is that he doesn't have the full respect of the players, but that might just be me getting the wrong end of the stick. The last point leads me onto what I think is the actual problem: The players he has at his disposal. Too many of them still aren't good enough. That's on the board.
-
Criticism, sure. He'll have to lump it! He's paid absurdly well to do what he does. Abuse? Nah, that's not part of the job description. Guy's a human at the end of the day, and only 21yrs old.
-
Sounds like he's removed himself from social media after getting abuse from fans. Yeah, great...cos calling him names will help, won't it? I swear some of our fans have room-temperature IQ. (I say fans, not supporters, because in order to support you have to do just that).
-
100%. And to be fair, not everybody is charismatic infront of a camera. Puel and Pellegrino were hopelessly dull on screen, but behind the scenes they may not have been. Will's shown enough in various BTS clips and podcasts etc to show me communication with the players looks OK.
-
Or he expects more, which is a good thing.
-
I'm pretty sure interest in football and presence of working testicles aren't related.
-
Feel for the fans that have to drive back in rubbish weather after this shite.
