  1. Very glad I don't have to make decisions on the team - Fraser/Sulemana/Edozie fighting for the left attacking spot, AArmstrong/Brooks/Amo-Ameyaw on the right, Adams/Mara in the middle. I imagine they'll all get plenty of game time over the next few weeks, we've got a midweek + weekend game every week for the next four weeks.
  2. The actual thing is this: very very few people actually give a shit, particularly in Britain. The right keep trying to import tactics from the US (see also: 15 minute cities) but British people have a much more "you do you" kind of attitude to these types of things. I'd wager £1000 most people are much more concerned about how they are going to pay their mortgage going up by hundreds of pounds, or getting an appointment with their GP, or what would happen if a loved one needed to be rushed to hospital but had to wait hours for an ambulance. Sure, there is a conversation that needs to be had about transgender issues, and it's a conversation that I, as a straight man, am not particularly qualified to be a part of (or, to be honest, very interested in). As Rishi is so keen to talk about "the British people's priorities", I'd suggest that a cast-iron definition of a woman is in about 600th place; between the correct shade of white for a street light and the latest acceptable date to take down your Christmas decorations.
  3. Was Dibling the one who moved to Chelsea and then came back almost immediately because he realised he'd never get a look in?
  4. Plymouth equalise against Leeds.
  5. Wait wait wait... we scored from a set piece?!
  6. If I didn't know better... I'd say that looks like a back 3.
  7. He's really started to do this regularly too, a few times a game at least. Our forwards know to expect it; we've scored a couple from his long balls forwards. It gives our opponents a real dilemma too - do they close THB down, even if they're not set up for pressing? Our whole play style is built around keeping possession, finding the extra man, so pressing him just opens up spaces on the rest of the pitch. Do they play a lower block to minimise the space behind the defence? That lets us progress up the pitch comfortably and have a game of attack vs defence. Or try and play an offside trap - which has its own obvious drawbacks.
  8. Bad luck Ducky!
  9. I am fully on board with the theory that Liz Truss is a Lib Dem sleeper agent. No way could somebody be as arrogant and naïve as she is without it all being a ploy to show how terrible Tories are.

    The Traitors

My wife and I watched the first Australian series before we'd watched any of the other versions and loved it. Series 1 AUS was excellent, both UK ones have been brilliant too. There is a US version but it's filmed in the same place/same time as the UK version with the same tasks - only they have about 50/50 normal people and "celebrities" (mostly from other reality TV shows) which really detracts from the game. Also the presenter is annoying as fuck. We've just finished series 2 of the Australian version (iPlayer) and I have to say, before this I thought of Australians as a laid back and intelligent bunch. Somehow they found the 20 thickest people in the country (half minor celebs, like the US) and I was honestly hoping there was some way that everybody could lose. That said, I enjoyed the finale.
  11. You do of course realise that neither of these people are MPs? Johnson resigned in disgrace and had his parliamentary pass removed, Farage has tried and failed to be elected as an MP seven times. Of course, when the Tory party goes down to sub-100 seats after the next election, they could ask whomever is in the safest seat to resign and parachute your chosen fascist in for a by-election - but that would be incredibly high profile and basically a lose-lose even in the safest blue seat.
  12. Not too fussed if we win or lose, so long as we do it in normal time!
  13. Wolves are bloody awful aren't they? Neto is the only player capable of doing anything going forward and he's just being marked out the game.
  14. More likely Charles as CB cover, one of the academy lads (Bragg?) as midfield cover. I think we have a couple of U21 defenders who aren't miles off the first team too.
  15. Good luck Charly, work on your penalties in the Italian sunshine - see you in 6 months!
  16. Makes an awful lot of sense for Brooks - he was Bournemouth's main man, got The Big C and can't get back into the team (to be fair, Bournemouth's squad has improved a lot since he got ill). Where better to walk straight into a team, get lots of game time, make a positive impression and not even have to move house? Very happy with this signing. Any rumours of an option to buy or is it just a straight six-month loan?
  17. It's so nice to have a manager that keeps an unchanged team when we do well. No big surprises.
  18. Christ Whitey, I was already 99% sure that I can ignore everything you say, but now you have confirmed that final 1% for me.
  19. Think it's safe to say that Jordan Henderson is no Leo Messi...
  20. That Venn diagram is a circle.
  21. I think I read somewhere the Lords can hold a bill up for 13 months - obviously by then, we will have a new Labour government and they will pull the bill. It's all performative and such a very very strange hill for Sunak to choose to die on.
  22. He would go as back up but would play more games than their first choice RB, the perpetually-injured Reece James. He can ably play left-back too, and Chelsea have been persistently playing a CB in Colwill there (because their other first choice fullback (Chilwell) is also perpetually injured...). I'd absolutely hate it if he went there, but I can understand Chelsea's interest and why KWP could want to go. I think we'll keep him this window but I could see this move happening in the summer, whether or not we go back up.
  23. If it gets Manning off corners I'm all for it.
  24. 58 Tory rebels tonight, enough to defeat the bill tomorrow. However, right wing Tory nutjobs have let us down before and will inevitably wave it through.
  25. Happily surprised by this news, it's something we've all been asking for basically since SMS opened but I thought it would be too big a logistical challenge for too small a (tangible) reward for the club to spend money on. Concourses, segregated entrances, bars, toilets, entrances/turnstiles will all need to be rejigged, walls destroyed and built. Personally no interest in standing at games but again, happily pleased to see a safe standing area being planned. Does safe standing mean we can squeeze more people in? Or do the rules that each person has to have a physical seat that they can just use optionally still apply?
