Can see Hudders winning all their remaining games except at Brighton where they will lose or draw
-
Lets not count or chickens yet...it is Saints we are talking about remember, we always contrive to f*ck things when it seems 'an easy task'!!
-
Any way you can highlight our games in hand at the top of the link?
-
Also the fact that Lallana has steadily progressed to being an excellent player rather than exploding onto the scene as a teenager ( a la Bale, Walcott and Oxo) means he has kept under the radar a bit more, which is only good news for us. He is already a good Championship player and with a bit more experience and progression can be a Premier league one.

Not sure if this has been posted yet...not much new material here but a good reminder of the importance of our academy to us http://www.sport.co.uk/features/Football/1622/What_is_the_secret_behind_Southamptons_youth_academy.aspx

Glad to see Adkins is still churning out the old phrase 'its all about winning games of football' Its hardly going to be about winning games of hungry hippos is it?!

Saints staying in the same Hotels before a games
London Saint replied to BTW Saint's topic in The Saints
I reckon they are staying here, other football teams who are playing in the North East tend to stay here. Its only about half an hour from Hartlepool and has all the top notch facilities etc they woudl need: http://www.rockliffehall.com/ -

Can someone please go on the Newcastle fans forum and tell them to LOCK UP YOUR WAGS PARDEW IS COMING! -
Does it seem to everyone else that Huddersfield are on course for a disproportionately high points total for a team to finish in 6th place????
-
How galling that a team we thrashed 5-0 gets to playoffs and we dont makes me sick!
-
With 4 away games left out of our 9 to go I cant see us winning all. I think we will lose at Bristol Rovers and draw at Gillingham. Thats 5 points dropped. Then that would also mean winning all 5 home games which looks unlikely as I think we are sure to draw one of them, due to pressure etc and we are Saints after all....
-
we need a team in 5th or 6th to have a horrible run of results for us to even consider making the playoffs, because at this rate even if we win every remaining game it still looks unlikely! Huddersfield have gone off the rails a bit since we thrashed them 5-0, hopefully we can do the same thing to Swindon...

Im going to be in Rio de Janeiro for the JPT final. Anyone know any bars that might show the game? thanks
-
The bookies like what they see from last night. Before the game we were 12/1 for promotion and thats been slashed to 7/1!
-
whats unfortunate is that this seems to be an exceptional year for League 1, whereby the 6th placed team will have a much higher points tally than usual. Huddersfield in 6th are on 58 points. By comparison, look at the Championship, where currently 49 points will get you 6th place from a similar number of games!

we are probably the best team in the league but is it all a bit too late? I bloody hope not!

What a joke. Imagine if Pompey sold Boateng, Utaka or whoever to a club like Wolves/Burnley/Bolton etc and they scored the goal that kept that team up? All hell would break loose! -
Who in their right mind would want to buy Pompey over the next week anyway? Surely not any businessmen with half a brain when they looked at it closely... You would have to spend at least £55m clearing the debt before investing a single penny in a club with an old decripid stadium, no facilities, an out of control wage bill and six points from safety? (1/8 odds to be relegated at most bookies)
-
The petition put to court was for £7.4m though so Pompey have been telling porkies again....
-
Some guy called Matthew on that link must have just tweeted this from the courtroom: "HMRC have told the court that they are owed £11.5m and the club cannot pay the debt"
-
Do you really think an astute, shrewd billionaire businessman like Markus Liebherr got to the position he is in today by 'not worrying about losing the odd million here or there'....?
-
I would vote for this design if I had the choice MODS - can you set up some sort of poll to see which one everyone likes best? Im sure someone from the Club will see it and get cracking on making it! cheers
-
They should let the fans vote for their favourite design... For example, they publish a shortlist of 5 shirt designs and let the fans choose. Now THATS democracy!

One of their blogsites was also raving about us: To bloody the nose of an opponent more mighty than yourself you’re occasionally going to have to get inside his guard. Apart from a promising first fifteen minutes or so, when we had a real go at Saints and had our only real, sustained spell of possession and pressure we failed to land a telling blow of any note until the game was already lost. Southampton held us at arm’s length comfortably and might have taken the lead earlier than they did when Smith somehow got away with a challenge on Connolly that would have earned a free-kick had it been made outside the area. From my seat in the lower tier of the home end it looked as obvious a penalty as you’re likely to see, Connolly had wriggled clear of Smith, who shoved him to the ground. Nothing subtle, nothing sly, just a shove in the back. Maybe it would be our day after all....... It wasn’t to be. We were repeatedly carved open down our left with young Netan looking completely out of his depth against an opponent who knew exactly when to go past him and when to play someone else in. Richards was left exposed time and again when the young left-back failed to hold his position and the only real positive we can take from the game is that we weren’t beaten far more heavily by a side packed with Premier League experience – Murty, Perry,, Jaidi, Connolly – and who turned out to be the best team to visit us so far this season, and the best since Leicester arrived in town last season. Southampton had quality in every position, were far better than us on the day and fully deserved what was a pretty easy win. Teams of their quality aren’t the norm in this division so we shouldn’t be too alarmed. This isn’t a disastrous result, it’s a reality check. It’s what we all thought would happen
