  1. Or that Serie A really isn’t up to much anymore - don’t forget Smalling has been their starting CB for several years now, despite being deemed not good enough for a struggling United or for England.
  2. Me too! When I see last post is from SuperSAINT on a thread I always expect something might’ve actually happened!
  3. We seem to be taking a bit of a Leipzig approach, and having two mobile but inexperienced defenders who aren’t afraid to put a foot in didn’t hurt them too much with Upamecano and Konate together. Excited for this one, hope he settles quickly cos we need it!
  4. I like the sound of 4 year deal + option of 5th, assuming the option is in our hands.
  5. Sounds Salisu-esque
  6. Was pretty sure from day one he’d end up at West Ham to be honest, a good move for both parties I reckon. Think he’s destined for the top as long as his attitude stays good.
  7. Yeah me too
  8. ‘It’s pretty similar with Bazunu’ - seems like he covered that base in his post…
  9. Experienced players in our squad: Bednarek, McCarthy, Long, Walcott, Redmond Less experienced players in our squad: KWP, Tino, Salisu, Perraud Experienced doesn’t necessarily = good
  10. That’s this years one isn’t it?
  11. Also agree he’d replace Henderson just fine at Liverpool, but not sure I see them coming for him. If I was him I think i’d probably be interested in Spurs because he’d probably start most games and under Conte I think they’ve the potential to actually achieve something now.
  12. Maybe they knew that both announcements would be followed by people abusing both players on social media and thought what’s the point?
  13. Voulez-Vouz could work..
  14. Also hardly plays Stuart Armstrong in any of the important games
  15. Would definitely have him back assuming the fee is half of what we sold him for or less. Would be good business to be honest, he’s a guarantee of probably 10 goals if he’s fit for 25+ games a season, there aren’t many players you can say that about and we definitely need it. I loved him here, i’ve wished him nothing but the worst since he left, and i’d welcome him back in a heartbeat. That’s just what being a fan is about 😄 everyone would forget he ever left once he’s scored for the first time. Don’t see him returning though, sadly.
  16. Could tell that guy was a chancer the day I saw his Twitter profile - the guys who chat the most normally never pull through
  17. 10 years of safety and only one genuine relegation battle, with European football, 2 FA Cup semi finals and a League Cup final we should’ve won. Some fantastic players, some fantastic football, some really good managers and great moments. It’s had its downs but for a club running on probably the smallest budget in the league when averaged over that period, i’d say we’ve done pretty well. Hopefully we’re at the beginning of a bit of an up period again but time will tell.
  18. Always thought he had a bit about him, but I don’t think we’d have seen it here, he probably needed the rejection/fresh start. However I was disappointed with the fee and hoped we’d have extended contract and loaned him out as one good season in the Championship can be worth 8-10mil easy these days. Never mind, hope he does well.
  19. He was quite clearly making a comparison of comparisons, rather than comparing Bazunu to Van Dijk 🙄
  20. Yeah true, definitely hard to beat that one
  21. Hojbjerg at home to Inter, felt genuinely sorry for him and expected him to be put out of his misery by Puel but was kept on. Imagined he’d have struggled to pass the salt at dinner that night, was dreadful.
  22. It feels like they’ve been pretty clear that not much would change in that regard, just that we would have the cash to potentially buy first before selling. If we sign Bazunu without selling anyone, then they’ve been true to their word. In previous summers we would probably have wanted Bazunu, but had to wait until we sold Bednarek for example, and if that took a while then we probably would’ve missed out on Bazunu and had to go for a back up target. I think Semmens said if the takeover had been last summer we’d have signed Broja, instead we had to loan him and now can’t afford to keep him. So hopefully times are changing in that regard.
  23. Like Clasie, Elia, Hoedt, Lemina etc.
  24. I agree - personally I much prefer watching Tino, Salisu, Broja, KWP, Perraud, to watching Long, Walcott, Redmond, Forster, McCarthy. The first lot have barely any experience beyond this season. It’s basically code for ‘i don’t know anything about this player, why can’t we get someone i’ve heard of because they must be better - why don’t we sign Wayne Hennessy because he was good the other day’.
  25. Personally couldn’t care less how much we are spending on players, given we’ve seen over the years how transfer fees do not always equate to quality. I just want good players. I also find it strange how people get so uptight about us not signing players like Phil Jones, Nick Pope, Dean Henderson, Tarkowski etc. Not because I don’t think some of those players would be good signings, but it’s just not something we do or have done for years? Surely we all know by now, so why bother getting frustrated by it, it’s just the way the club is.
