Since the purchase of the club by the Liebherr's, Cortese has run the club as his personal fiefdom. His attitude towards many of those involved with the club and others outside, with which he disagrees, has all the hallmarks you would expect from a short Italian given too much power. The main problem, is that most chairman with his attitude, actually have the money to ruffle the feathers that give him the added stature he craves. The club has been successful on the pitch due in large part to the managers, players and playing staff. The business has been financially successful due to the strict control over costs and the massive increase in non-matchday income from Sky, due to the success on the pitch. The owners will be making a big mistake to cave in to an employee who increasingly confuses the role of a Chairman with that of a Dictator. I think they only have two choices: Sell the club to new owners who will understand that with investment, there are many financially trained Chairman who can do Cortese's job, without the ongoing damage to the club's reputation. Get rid of Cortese and back a new Chairman, with the investment the club requires to meet any ambitions they have. The poll above provides pretty much the same result as when Adkins was fired. It only serves, as does the Pompey Takeover Thread, how detached from reality you become, when you spend too much time on internet forums. Whoever they get in, I will still turn up, like most other fans. My loyalty is to the team. I am just dreaming of Wenger taking over as Chairman and the Liebherr's financing a new stadium....

Apparently those Pompey fans that saved their club from extinction, are going to be faced with a large number of problems that could mean that the club either goes into administration again, or at least gets relegated to the Conference. What a bunch of useless fans and a cr @p club they are and won't it be funny if they all lose all the money that they invested and have no club to support. Our fans are so much better than theirs and we will all be so amused at every mistake they make and every misfortune that befalls them, etc., etc., There, I'm done with this thread. Feel free to cut and paste the above. It summarises most of which will follow this post....

The takeover is complete and the topic of the thread is history. Time to move this to Golden Posts and start a new one in support of local football fans saving Pompey...

It's taken me this long to be be slightly annoyed about it. There is a reason schadenfreude is before sh !t and syphilis in the dictionary...[h=1][/h]

I wasn't saying they weren't in a vulnerable position. Just no more vulnerable than the majority of other football clubs and less vulnerable than us when we banked at Barclays. Wish them well and move on. Making sh !t up and exaggerating potential future problems makes us look pathetic. We are lucky with our owners. That should be enough. The takeover is over. End of thread...

I understand that this thread is an opportunity to have a lighthearted swipe at Pompey and their fans, but I really think this thread has served it's purpose and the entertainment value has worn thin. Why? Well for one thing, the fans and their backers have achieved the near impossible and saved the club from liquidation. Not much entertainment value there, if your a Saints fan, just grudging admiration. This post just shows the desperation for trying to find some flaw in the structure of the deal. To be honest, it isn't hard, but that said, we are talking about football, which is not a real business, anyway. For them to have any sort of structure is enough for them, rightly, to be proud of and this cr @p about them being in a vulnerable position if they don't meet their obligations to their backers just confounds me. I would rather have had the position they are in, than ours when the sh !ts at Barclays started getting anxious and then pulled the plug. Jesus, just wish them well and shut the thread down. We are really starting to sound pathetic....

Can we run this poll again...?

Apparently he published this on an Islamic website: "When the Brighton bomb went off, I felt a surge of excitement at the nearness of Margaret Thatcher's demise and yet disappointment that such a chance had been missed. ‘Why did she have to leave the bathroom two minutes earlier?’ I asked myself.” In the same publication he also said he wished Argentina had won the Falklands War, which claimed the lives of 255 British servicemen.”

I was talking to a Pompey ST holder and he thought that it was disgraceful that the FL were blocking other bids. I think it is important to realise that they are not blocking any bids. They are just saying that any other owner than PST will not be provided with the golden share, i.e. membership of Division 2. This doesn't stop anyone buying the assets of the club and turning the ground into a Poundland. All that requires, is a piece of real estate without any prospect of supporting a football club, for the covenent to be lifted, as happened at the Goldstone Ground, Plough Lane, etc., etc. The club as a business is dead. All that is left are the last rites, in my opinion...

I just can't resist it. Sorry guys, but I think I deserve this tiny moment of "I told you so": Nice to see that the Echo reporters are on the ball... -
Instead of running into the bathroom, surely she could have simply hid his legs?

WHAT WOULD YOU DO? It is the 10th September, 2013. You are the Mayor of the Southampton. Scientists have discovered another meteor that is headed towards the earth. They have calculated that this meteor will strike Fratton Park, early on the morning of 14th September, 2013 at approximately 2:30 A.M. The meteor is large enough to completely wipe Portsmouth from the face of the earth, with many thousands of residents incinerated in the resulting fireball, and total property damage estimated at many hundreds of pounds. Portsmouth City Council have requested that Southampton send all available emergency services and police cars to help evacuate the Fratton Park area. Among the fire engines and police cars you could be sending are many that are being used to provide support for the Southampton Boat Show. As the mayor, you must decide: Do you: - A) Stay up late on the night of the impact to watch the coverage live? or do you: - B) Tape it and watch it in the morning

One of the backers behind the failed Harris bid was Pascal Najadi, according to the Guardian. His self published autobiography is available on Amazon. A reviewer comments: A humble man, then and one that seems well suited to Pompey and the salty smell of the sea... Hall apparently traced a link from him to Roman Dubov via Najadi's son and seemed to suggest that they were all less than fit and proper. I didn't believe it for a minute and after reading his blog, felt more and more comfortable about Harris's bid for the future welfare of this great club. I am sure I join many Saints fans in welcoming the removal of the disgraceful smear attempt by Hall and hope that the PFA can help revive this bid, if only for the sake of this thread... Just for Micah Hall's benefit, this is one of the people you may have pi $$ed off. If you see him at your front door in Gosport, best not to answer...

Good thing I took a copy of that article, then. Should I post it, Steve?

They didn't bother to take down this blog, and reading it, I don't see why they should.

Guided Missile replied to St Lej's topic in The Saints
Wes is famous for giving up his season ticket when we were demoted, because he was not prepared to watch lower league football. He then renewed his ST when we were promoted, claiming that he had stopped going in protest against Rupert Lowe. Unfortunately for him, I kept the posts that showed what a disingenuous, disloyal, two faced, lying windbag he really is. I will now file his latest missive to add clueless to this description... -

At a time when the economy is in the sh !tter, all the politicians and press have to chatter about is a non-issue to the vast majority of the population, who are too embarrassed to offend a sector of our society, in which the indulgence in unusual sexual practices are placed above the basic need for humans to procreate. This is when I I turn to "The Life of Brian", a film that still manages to capture the laughable state of politics and religion in most parts of the world, a state ably supported by a dim and self-absorbed congregation: -
Always been Guided Missile, even from the old 606 board. Looked a bit younger in those days as this will testify.
