  1. ...probably...
  2. If you think that my original thread presents the same argument as the one made by David Conn over 10 years ago, then you obviously have a problem with the English language, which makes any attempt by me to debate, rather pointless. You appear to think that his statement in the book, that Newcastle, amongst a number of other Premiership clubs, such as Liverpool, are money making machines for the stock market, rather than clubs run for the fans, is still true today and that this, in some way is what I was arguing. Hope that's not too "snarky" for you....
  3. Wes, I'll make this simple for you, so that you will understand why you are going back on ignore and everyone will see what a tool you are and that you only have yourself to blame. You pi $$ me off because you're a pompous old windbag who is constantly looking for a bandwagon to jump on or an opinion to hang on to. The evidence for this is that you accused me of plagiarising, yet out of over 3,000 posts, you have managed a sum total of 6 threads all of which have either been quotes of other publications as in the case of these: Alan Pardew's birthday I don't know whether it has been mentioned on any of the many threads about our new manager, but according to the announcement on the OS, tomorrow is Alan Pardew's birthday. McLeish after Bale McLeish is seeking to buy Gareth Bale from Spurs for Birmingham Saints owe Bournemouth money This has just been published:-Championship side Southampton's parent company went into administration recently and that appears to have had a knock on affect, with Southampton FC owing AFC Bournemouth money. Hatters consider legal action Just reported in thr last half hour:-Luton director Stephen Browne admits the club are prepared to take legal action against the Football League if they fail to dock points from Southampton. Stern shocks States Really? Did he score a spectacular goal? What is the matter with the OS? ...or this shameless cr @p: Would you BOYCOTT? Ways to get rid of Lowe and the board Well, I think that the time has come. We've had him forced back on us by the Quisling Wilde's alliance with Lowe and his cronies and there is nothing that can be done by way of an EGM to rid us of him through the shareholdings unless Wilde changes horses yet again. In summary, Wes, despite claiming that my threads are unoriginal and copied from someone else, you have in fact, demonstrated just how large a w @ank stain you are on the fabric of this website.
  4. Different era, different argument, but don't let that stop you spouting bo££ox. Reading you and Wes, is liking watching a re-run of a poor Laurel and Hardy film...
  5. In the same way that you are replying to my post, using the same medium, but simply using different words? Muppet...
  6. David Conn's argument in 1998 was about football in the 90's and "how clubs such as Manchester United, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and others (were turned) into stockmarket money-making machines." Feel free to look for different arguments than I was making and claim they are the same. Read his book again, this time without dribbling on the pages...
  7. Nostradamus lives.....
  8. I think that one of the most dramatic moments in the history of our club, must have been when Lowe was forced to call in the receiver. What was that fateful board meeting like to witness? What events pushed our great club to the brink of extinction. Was it too many bad decisions made by the management or just bad decisions by the banks? I have a feeling that it could have been just a minor payment that the bank failed to honour and that pushed Lowe into a position that he was powerless to control. What is interesting is that since the purchase of our club, Swiss TV are, for obvious reasons, very interested in the dramatic events behind the fall of Lowe. I have been able to obtain an exclusive video dramatisation of that last board meeting, that is to be shown on Swiss TV next week. Obviously, it is in German, but luckily it has been subtitled in English. You can find it here.
  9. Fair point and I'm OK with that. Great job with this Steve, BTW. Reflects well on the site and it's members, IMO...
  10. The poll results don't seem to have the weighting for the amount of money donated. How is that to work, ie someone that donated £50 gets 10 votes, someone that donated £5 gets one...?
  11. Reminds me of the old Benny Hill classic, when an actor says to his stage lover, in a darkened room: "What is this thing called, love?" Director shouts cut and says, "NO IT'S...."What is this thing, called love?""
  12. It is apparent that the fantastic support that the posters have provided, is likely to mean that 2 players are sponsored and thus double the number of prizes are on offer. I'm now just hoping for the extra donations to now allow us to give to Saints in the Community. I am sure that everyone is aware that the possible presentation of a cheque to the club for this worthy charity, (hopefully by Steve Grant on our behalf) will give this forum and it's members so much respect and kudos that it could become the focal point for the fans/club interface. The power of the internet and the future of fan representation....IMHO
  13. "Went training in the morning, shopping in the afternoon, clubbing in the evening, nicked a couple of handbags and then called it a day..."
  14. Baj, the idea is that there's one main player vote and a second vote on whether any surplus funds goes to another "up and coming nipper" or the "Saints in the Community" charity. That way, the contributors get to vote on how their donations are used.
  15. I think it may be worth, if there is enough money to vote for two players, that when a poll is run to chose the sponsored player, one of the players is "Saints in the Community". It seems the fairest way....
  16. Come on guys, let's raise enough to sponsor a player and donate some money to Saints in the Community. We need more than £700 to start the charity donation...
  17. Apparently not. The main reason he is my back up, is I expect to do very well on EBay, with his signed shirt, thank you very much...
  18. The question was "Did she sound genuine?" The answer was given by the fact that I posted what she said. I must admit, I do have the reputation for being taken in by bullsh !t, so I can understand your concerns...
  19. Just a sales person?!?!? Danielle Lewis is the club's Sponsorship Executive, FFS...
  20. That's enough. 10% of over 8,000 registered users donate a quid via paypal, list the available players and then run a poll...
  21. Good Idea....then have a prize draw for the dinner tickets and the signed shirt...
  22. You get first choice on another player not yet sponsored, or a new player. My back up choice is young Pulis...
  23. Can I recommend that any small firms out there, consider sponsoring a player? £700 gets you his signed shirt, two tickets to the end of season Players Award Dinner, logo on the big screen, etc. etc.... It was a grand last season and I think, even in a recession, it's worth considering. Email Danielle at dlewis@saintsfc.co.uk and she'll sort something out, I'm sure. Interestingly, this morning I received a letter informing us that we can sponsor Marek Saganowski again this season and the club have heard nothing about him going anywhere. If we can keep him and Rasiak up front for the season, I think we'll do alright...
  24. Might be worth asking them to pick up some Tamiflu, while they're at it... Still, I am sure, like me, you will look forward to the debates being centred on the team's performance on the pitch. I'm particularly looking forward to Alpine's perceptive analysis on games he hasn't seen...
  25. Well done, mate. I've already got my two, so unfortunately I'll have to give Friday a miss. I reckon we'll get to 12,000 if WGS signs... Here's hoping...
