But when the club assembles a group of players based on what they think they can sell them on for, rather than assembling a group of players to create an effective team you're going to run into problems, and we have.

I guess it depends on your definition of 'worked'. If you mean unearthed/developed exciting new players to he sold at profit to Liverpool you might be right. Maybe I'm alone in wanting a bit more. Leicester didn't win the premiership by being a feeder club.

This exactly. We have few enough heros as it is. LM won us our only ever trophy. And established us as a top flight club when doing so was done by clever coaching and guile rather than relying on a foreign owner laundering money.
