I wish we had better option for the CB position than Bednarek/Stephens/Valery right now. Our CB stable next season should be : Salisu, £25m signing, Lyanco, Bednarek i feel like the difference between 14th place and 8th place on this team is a strong partner with Salisu.
-
isn't it 4 new signings starting that they didn't have on 2/1? Guimarães Wood Burn Targett
-
Romeu has been playing so deep trying to help out our CBs. Seems like half the game he has been playing behind Stephens and Bednarek.
-
tricky enough apparently... Broi-sha or Broi-ya ?
-
I did say "likely" ....but, I see how the ping pong balls always seem to bounce. Someone last week: "what makes you say Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man City won't avoid each other in the quarterfinals?" the rest of us: "haha!"
-
If.. if ... IF we get to the Finals our likely run would be: West Ham, City, Chelsea (w/o Broja) and Liverpool. (you know, only 4 of the top 5 clubs in England currently). Liverpool's? Norwich, Nottingham Forest, Palace, and Saints.

OK, I see you want to rest some players Ralph. uh huh. so then, what is he saving Redmond for? 9 changes? wow.

This screen cap is ridiculously unfair -implying that somehow he was upset because Shane Long scored. Anyone who was watching saw he was brushing his fingers through his hair.

he is sandbagging it. wants to stay here so badly, he is intentionally holding back so his suitors will look elsewhere. 😊

The Athletic article about Saints' mystery injuries around 60mins
SaintTex replied to Saint NL's topic in The Saints
don't even need to go to the sideline.. just safety pin a few to your kit and take one during any short stoppage in play. an old marathoner's trick. -
if you recall there was a lot of panic last summer about Ings leaving (not to mention the team's last half season performance). Last summer transfer strategy was all about staying up this year - get through this year. Part of that strategy was the 1 year insurance policy we took out on Broja. If it worked (and it did), Broja's stay was likely going to be short. Also, that move bought the club valuable time (a whole year) to scout for something more permanent, in case AArmstrong was not the answer. And so far, it appears he is not.

that is right.. my post above is a bit deceiving... we were on 29 points by Matchweek 17 (the Liverpool win) and stayed on 29 points for quite awhile after that (6 match losing streak)
-
interesting little note: 20-21 | 24 matches - 29 points 21-22 | 24 matches - 29 points feels like a completely different season (so far)
-
we've had a pretty impressive 8 match run here (3-4-1 | 12 points) considering the competition. (6 out of the 8 matches against Top 8 competition) 13 Palace D 4 West Ham W 8 Spurs D 14 Brentford W 7 Wolves L 1 City D 8 Spurs W 5 Man U D For next 6 matches Saints have the 3rd easiest schedule. Definitely doable to be at 40 points at the end of that. (H) Everton (H) Norwich City (A) Aston Villa (H) Watford (A) Burnley (A) Leeds United
-
i mean, yeah. Mo with 7 goals in all competitions the season. Those other three this season combined? 2 goals.
-
Spurs started a lot of first teamers Saturday.. Kane , Hojberg, Davies, Sanchez, Lloris, Reguilon, all played full time, Son and Moura both played nearly 70 minutes, Winks played nearly 80, Emerson 90 minutes. probably grasping at straws. (yes, i know Saints played ET)
-
has anyone put together what their expected starting XI would have been had we played them when scheduled (Jan 2nd)? I know Callum Wilson and Saint-Maximin left that ManU game due to injury. Callum is still out. Would be interesting to compare that XI with the XI they ultimately play with when they play Saints - whenever.
-
Well, i reckon it depends on where the ball is. The one yesterday was all about speed which helps create that squirrelly movement side to side when hit properly. If i recall, the wolves didnt line up much of a wall, and not at 10 yards. but at that distance, a wall is not all that effective. the closer they are, it is more about getting them up over the wall, then down quickly and tucked high in the corner.. have to take a lot off the ball.

14 goals for in 19 matches for Wolves. 3 goals against 1 match with Saints.

I like Perraud as well. Solid; hasn't let anyone down. the discussion on his lack of quality in the final third is interesting. I thought coming in to the club from Brest that was supposed to be a strength. Had 3 goals and 7 assists his last season in Ligue1. hopefully that will come in due time. maybe he need minutes. (He played over 3000 last season at Brest.) Who plays where at the LB and RB position (as well as what formation those players are best suited in) when everyone is healthy is a very interesting discussion

you know, I am sure Saints aren't particularly pleased to have to play a league game Tuesday after a Cup game on Saturday either, Leicester. A headline that read Southampton Bretford game postponed due to short rest and extra time minutes from previous match. wouldn't be any less farcical than what we are seeing now.
-
why are we talking right back signings??! cant KWP play Tuesday?
-
Silly.. Saints don't get home draws in Cup matches.
