Of course YOU never play the poster and not the post 🤔. There is a reason people play you Batman, and that is because you have been posting drivel for years! That stupid statement about Mara being a perfect example. How many minutes has he had on the pitch so far? Anyway, given that so many people had written us off when the team was announced, an excellent result, especially with so many injuries at the moment. Credit to everyone for digging in and getting 5 hard won points from the last 3 games.

https://amp.theguardian.com/business/2022/oct/22/brexit-isnt-working-and-labour-must-be-honest-about-it-with-britains-electorate This is going to be a massive problem for Starmer when he becomes the next proper PM after the next election. Brexit has always been a political minefield, but as someone who supported the remain campaign, he is going to have trouble with those who still believe that Brexit was a good idea. Unless you couch it in Johnsonlike terms (i.e bullshit rhetoric) you are setting yourself up for a kicking. It is time people started talking realistically about it and the effects it is having upon our economy and our lives. If we are stuck with it, so be it. But let’s be honest about what it really means.

If I was “just trolling” I could do that on other threads. What group are you talking about in particular? If it is who I think it is you are wrong. Most sex crimes in this country are carried out by white men. The NHS is on its knees because of lack of funding for years, but yes, Tory austerity measures have not helped, nor their effort of privatisation through the back door. You voted for Brexit, where are the benefits? You can’t tell me so you just deflect. It is what you all do. Yes there are other countries in a worse state than us, but I am speaking relatively. For the 5th richest country in the planet we seem to be in a real mess. So far no Tory voters or Brexiters seem to have a come back, it is just the usual personal attack rubbish. God knows what the answer is until we have a General Election, but it is way past time for a major overhaul of our electoral system. Minority governments are never ideal, especially in the circumstances we find ourselves in. We need an independent body to look at the way we elect our MPs and PMs. First past the post does not work democratically. We need a system which reflects in Parliament what people vote for. Sadly PR would benefit far right organisations and could mean that Farage finally gets his seat in Westminster, but better to have these people inside pissing out, within the system rather than stirring this up on the outside. It is beyond ridiculous that a person just outed by his own party for his conduct is back in the running for his job back a few weeks after leaving in disgrace. Why do a few doddery old ladies get to choose our next PM? With Truss it was clear the system is not only flawed, it is completely undemocratic. We need a root and branch review of the way this country is run, from government to public services. I heard it suggested the other day that we needed a coalition government using the best brains of all parties to get things back on an even keel and to provide more of a level playing field for the way forward. Something radical needs to happen. We can’t carry on the way we are. If we do we are only likely to get more of the same.

Apart from the farcical chaos in Westminster this week and the economic meltdown that we face this winter, more misery has been heaped on us this week. A grim report into child sex abuse in this country was published yesterday but buried by the news about Truss’s resignation. All this week the local news has been covering a report from an investigation into infant mortality at two hospitals in East Kent, my local hospital in Ashford and another in Margate which has been damning and records that 45 babies would not have died with better care. Tory supporters are talking seriously about trying to reinstate Boris Johnson as PM. People have been phoning in to LBC in tears at the state of the country. WTF is going on here? I’ve listen to interviews with people in America and Europe today either laughing at us or asking what the hell has happened to a once great country. I should throw in the report about the Met, our flagship police force, which shows clear signs of mismanagement. Wasn’t the whole point of Brexit to step out from the supposed constraints of the EU and forge ahead under our own steam because we were being held back? Not working out that way though is it? As Alpine would say, we are being run like a seaside b & b. Although we desperately need a different Government, it is going to take years to sort this mess out even with fresh ideas. I am genuinely interested to hear from anyone who voted for Brexit and still thinks that it, and another Tory government, is a good idea.

What is truly sickening is that Truss will get £115,000 a year for the rest of her life for her, very short, stint as PM. Given the time out for the Queens death she actually was in “office” for just 12 days. Nice work if you can get it. As for Johnson just being sacked over having a piece of cake, it is no wonder this country is in such a state when people who believe and spout this nonsense have the vote.
-
Listening to the LBC phone ins today it was staggering how many people would have Johnson back. It would appear to give lie to the notion that turkeys don’t vote for Christmas! If Boris Johnson is the answer what on earth is the question? It appears that some Tories think that he is the only person who can win them the next election. Dear God.

This used to be a place to avoid when we lost. Now it’s becoming a place to avoid when we win! The perceived wisdom is that we needed at least 4 points from the last 2 games. We have got those yet still some whinge. As someone said we have played better and lost this season but I will take a few ugly wins at the moment if that means it gets us back on track. Che was MotM by a country mile but I thought AA played well last night too. Both worked their socks off. Arma got in behind them several times but we couldn’t find the pass. The subs were well timed and did what was needed to see out the game. AMN still looks off the pace to me and gave the ball away cheaply in dangerous positions a few times. Perhaps a run at RB if KWP is out for a while will help him? 4 tough games coming up and the injuries are mounting so a win and a clean sheet, no matter if it was ugly, was crucial. JWP looks like he needs a rest but he needs to find something extra in the tank to help get us into the WC break in a reasonable position. 4 points from 2 in form teams when we are in a run of poor form is not something to complain about FFS. If Ralph had been sacked and we had got these 4 points under a new manager I expect everyone would be singing his praises and talking about a new dawn!

It doesn’t matter what your political persuasion is, if you are a pensioner and reliant on the state pension you would be crazy not to support the triple lock. Most people are struggling under this government but when you have people who can’t even use their toaster this money will make a huge difference next year.

Given that none of this bunch ever do the decent thing, and reading between the lines, this sounds credible. I might be reading too much into her choice of words but she does seem to be hinting that Liz should go herself given her massive cock ups and constant u turns. Still, another one down which is good news. Perhaps we can put her on a plane to Rwanda?

So she has still not found enough integrity and backbone to resign. It’s a disgrace. In a matter of weeks she has managed to lower the bar on an incompetent, unrepentant, tin eared administration even lower than Johnson’s. They are now talking about Theresa May coming back! Nad even wants Johnson back. If the Tory party was a horse it would have been shot by now. Incredibly there are still people who support her and say she should be given more time! Starmer was excellent yesterday and must be relishing PMQs tomorrow (if she turns up). The current spectacle of Hunt sitting there running the country whilst she sits there like a ventriloquist’s dummy is totally unedifying for a country of our stature. Another bout of austerity when we still haven’t recovered from the last 12 years is a nightmare waiting to be made real. Several new businesses in Ashford that managed to survive the lockdown have closed suddenly this week. The shopping mall is already a ghost town but there were some signs of some green shoots of recovery, but those are rapidly being snuffed out. If we think things are bad now it is nothing to compare to where we will be next year. This has got nothing to do with any mythical anti- growth coalition. It has everything to do with 12 years of Tory austerity, Brexit, a global pandemic, sucking up to a Russian despot and two completely incompetent Prime Ministers in quick succession. Jeremy Hunt is currently running the country. Just let that sink in for a moment. A man so incapable none of the Blue Rinse brigade vote for him. A man with a terrible track record in Cabinet office. A man who no one wants as a PM. It’s almost as if we have woken up in a parallel universe. I thought it couldn’t get much worse than it was under Johnson. It just goes to show how wrong you can be.

Sadly the ignore button does not work when others quote those you have on ignore. You still see their posts in the quote. Also if you aren’t logged in and pop on to have a quick read you see everything from everyone which means you have to stay constantly logged in. TUI has an ignore function that means you see nothing from people on your ignore list at all, so it can be done. Ideally the moderators should do something about abusive behaviour. It is one thing disagreeing with someone and quite another using derogatory language against someone you may have a dislike of. For £5 when other sites are free you should expect a decent level of control over those who cannot control themselves. Something should be done about stalking and pile ons too. It is basic bullying and what happened to MLG recently was particularly unpleasant.

It is bizarre to witness grown men stalking complete strangers on an Internet forum looking to wind them up on a daily basis. It always seems to be the same people backing each other up and joining in the attacks on certain posters. I assume that they have jobs and spend large proportions of their employment trolling on the internet. Probably the kind of people Liz Truss and her colleagues were writing about in Britannia Unchained. Even more bizarre that these people who proclaim not to be racist then call out people for posting against racism (and other far right policies). On what planet does that make any sense? You can bet your life, post against any kind of right wing agenda for any length of time and you will become a target for the usual suspects.

Did I? She is certainly from an immigrant family. Since when has “immigrant” been a racist term? In response to your post Duckie, my bad, I should have said she comes from an immigrant family. This country is full of immigrants. My family immigrated here in the 17th century. If I called her family immigrants that would not be racist would it? It seems that the only people who have a problem with the word are those who don’t want them here. Personally I don’t have a problem with immigrants or immigration. My problem with Patel is her policy of sending immigrants to Rwanda. But you know that don’t you? You are just playing at being Batman. As for the term “coconut” I was referring to the term and not calling anyone that. How does that make me racist? Perhaps when you stop referring to women as “chicks” come back and lecture me about my use of language.

As you well know Egg, these people have been having a pop at me and anyone posting against far right opinions for years. Surely I am entitled to have a go back and with all due respect, I am sure they don’t need you to stand up for them. Says the person who has been posting against immigrants, Muslims and Johnny Foreigner in general for decades! If I have posted racist posts then they should be easy to find. Off you go then Batman, provide your evidence that I am a racist. Oh, and just remind me again, who was the poster who used a doctored picture of Gary Lineker blacked up as his avatar? Back on topic. Hunt is saying that we need stability and that is his reason for saying that Truss should remain as PM. Surely that is the strong argument to remove her? She is clearly out of her depth, only got elected because she was prepared to say and do anything that would make the Blue Rinsers and Gammons vote for her and has filled her cabinet with those who backed her rather than those who are competent at the their jobs. The only surprise is that she imploded so quickly and didn’t even have a honeymoon period to look fondly back on. Nothing galvanises a Tory more than the threat of the humiliation of losing a safe blue seat so no doubt the WhatsApp groups have been working overtime this weekend with plots to get her out. It is not often I wish the Tories well but in this venture, for the sake of the country, I hope they get it done quickly.
-
No but when you have people post the unpleasant nonsense they do over the years they deserved to be called out for it. You don’t let things pass that you disagree with do you? When you look at what others have to contend with, my efforts at “having a pop” look quite tame in relation. I also don’t stalk people on the internet as these guys do (not that it is difficult to find them because they infect these threads like covid). MLG has recently been hounded off here, I assume by the usual suspects. Perhaps you should take aim at the WUMs and Trolls on here? If more people called them out for their behaviour perhaps it would become a better forum and encourage the many decent posters who have left over the years back again?
-
It does seem incredible that the Tories have managed to make things even worse. Beyond bizarre in fact. She has done the right thing in sacking the Chancellor but if she had a smidgen of self awareness she would also walk. To be even more incompetent and clueless than the person she has replaced takes some doing. We need a General Election and we need it now.
-
So writes someone who spends large parts of his days stalking people on social media, is one of the biggest WUMs and trolls on this site and who was banned from another site for his behaviour. How does it feel to get a taste of your own medicine Turkish?

Joe Shields leaving? What the hell is happening???

Makes sense, especially since Chelsea tried to sign Lavia from us shortly after he signed for us. A big club with very deep pockets, why wouldn’t you want to hoover up the best and why wouldn’t you want to go there? Still, for all those who want to believe that there are huge problems in the club it is another stick to beat the club with. -
https://unherd.com/2022/06/the-truth-about-ukraines-nazi-militias/ Would you say this was an accurate reflection of the situation Manji?

Just deserts? On what planet does “prodding with a stick” justify the razing of cities, towns and villages and the butchering and raping of countless hundreds of innocent civilians? I accept that not everything is black and white and that Ukraine are not whiter than white, but your excuses for Putin’s genocidal and megalomaniac actions are, quite frankly, sickening.
