We lost the match a short while before when Arsenal took us apart in the league. WGS bottled his team selection and played it safe. Kevin Davis wasn't even on the bench. I certainly got the impression that it was more about not being humiliated again than trying to win it.

You would think so wouldn't you? It is not difficult to pick a colour that is completely different and will not clash with the home side's kit. There shouldn't be the need for a third strip (unless it is a one off special occasion).
-
Call me old fashioned but no stripes, no Saints. They have been playing in stripes for most of their existence and I still think there is a place for tradition in football. Having said that I prefer the Sunday strip to the drab black and grey kit.

Yep, always better to have a blinkered view rather than an open mind. Nothing like sticking to a negative viewpoint no matter what. Enjoy the game yesterday?

What a great performance. Very proud of the club. With Virgil we probably would have won today. Excellent performance.
-
But you have said they are only one point off of the relegation places so clearly not better than that. Why not. He is clearly a decent manager and if they did go down could well take them straight back up. Remember a manager called Lawrie McMenemy and what happened with him? I assume that if Leicester won the league then they would stay up???

Same could be said of your comment.

Yet Stephens managed to struggle through both semi finals against Liverpool. Why should he freeze? Is Wembley going to be that much more intimidating than Anfield? Perhaps it might help the lad grow in confidence?

Norman Tebbit has the definitive list. I think that supporting the English cricket team was one of the criteria. -
When he first looks up he is looking to play a cross, but watch what happens next. He looks towards the goal. I think it was a shot.

There is nothing funny about the orange, strangely coiffured haired one (apart maybe from his hair). If the media are getting "in a tizz" it is because the most powerful man on the planet behaves like a delusional petulant child and who has no idea what truth is. The frightening thing is that there are millions of Americans who actually fall for his ****. No Batman, there is nothing funny about any of this.
-
Oh the irony. Batman using the media to have a dig at the media.

Apparently the rumour about the bid for Amat wasn't true.
-
Apparently the rumour about Amat is not true. Still, why worry about all the good that has happened when you can did up the few mistakes? Try looking at the bigger picture, I don't think you will find it is that bad.

If Bertrand shows signs of leaving we can always send Nordic round to threaten him!
-
Just think of the fun you could have had on here if we had lost! We won away from home and scored 4 goals. What's not to like? Cheer up for goodness sake!
-
I think that you will find that plenty of people who invest their money in the club also criticise the bedwetters. Anyway, back to the point of the thread. It looks like Reed has unearthed another gem. Does it really make sense to kick him out?

Thanks to you and others for your support. It is a nightmare getting anywhere from where I currently live but there are numerous reasons why I don't get to live games very often nowadays, and I really don't feel the need to justify them to anyone else. We are all entitled to an opinion, and as the Club Historian has said himself, play the post, not the man!
-
You have no knowledge of my situation so I don't know why you feel qualified to make a personal judgement. Is my opinion any more biased than yours Duncan? You can probably see more watching the match on TV so I don't see why you think being there makes an opinion any more valid? I also don't know why you get so upset about it. There are plenty of Saints supporters who don't go to games very often for a variety of reasons. Anyway, this thread is about sacking Les Reed. I really don't think that you have to go to every match just to have an opinion about the job he is doing for us. The reason I "lecture" as you put it is because invariably a number of people on here are only to willing to jump to negative conclusions without any facts to back up their posts. I am not the only one on here who gets fed up with the negativity. I didn't aim my post at you but perhaps I have touched a nerve? And as someone said earlier, you get upset when someone has a pop at you, you even started a thread about it, but you feel more than happy to have a pop at other people.
-
"You don't bother going to games." So that immediately invalidates my having an opinion does it? Would it do so if I was to share your glass half full attitude Duncan? As a historian I find your attitude rather odd. Should we dismiss everything historians write because most of them weren't there at the events they write about and form opinions about? You only have to read the match day thread on here to see that people who "bothered" to go to the match differ enormously in the way they see it. There are many people on here who also do not go to matches but form a view from their armchairs and our view is just as valid, even if it does differ from yours. You have no idea what my circumstances are yet it doesn't stop you making a judgement. Don't you think that is a bit hypocritical, afterall, isn't that what you are in effect accusing me of? Well done to going to lots of matches but sorry, it doesn't mean that your point of view carries any more weight than anyone else's. At the end of the day, it is just another opinion. And you pontificate as much as any one else on here.

There is nothing I hate more than the "I am a better supporter than you" mentality. I am a Londoner born and bred. I have never lived in Hampshire. I started supporting the Saints in 1966 and they have been my only club. These days I am mostly an armchair supporter. It doesn't make me any less passionate or committed to the club than someone who goes to every game. The same can be said for those who live overseas. What exactly is a "real fan?" There are many on here who would call themselves "real fans" but spend all their time slagging the club off or picking holes in everything they do. I think it is great that the club has a fanbase outside of Hampshire and outside of the country. Long may that continue and grow!

Is it just a British trait I wonder, but many seem to have a need to find fault with everything. I could understand it when we were on a downward trajectory, but we have had a wonderful 7 years, have a cup final to look forward to and are still mid table despite a poor run, so why the need to find blame and pillory people? It happened last year and the year before that too. Not always Reed. Kat Liebherr and Ralph Krueger have been slagged off too. The club has been very well run so what is the problem if Reed enjoys some of the plaudits? Surely that is better than people wanting to talk to him because we are rubbish and there are fan demonstrations every week? It must have been manna from heaven when, after signing a striker after being slagged off since last summer for not buying another one, that VVD got crocked and gave the moaners an opportunity to berate him over not signing a new CH. I guess if Caceres does sign and is a success, the pitchfork brigade will find another reason to attack Reed, or find another target at the club.
