  1. We bought him for peanuts, got the best years out of him and have now sold him ( a disgruntled influence at the club) for a decent wedge. Result!!
  2. We still have Davis, Boufal and Austin to come back from injuries.
  3. You say Ulloa, I say Cabaye. I'll get me coat......
  4. Badger strangling witch coven! Now there's an internet forum group that I would pay a fiver to join!!
  5. You have been "sad and frustrated" every season since you started posting. Why pretend that this season is any different?
  6. It is perfectly possible to want more, hope for more and be keen to win a trophy without resorting to slagging off the owner/CEO/manager/players every five minutes. At one point the owners weight was called into question. Sorry but that is beyond ridiculous and is indefensible. Perhaps if those dubbed wrist slitters or bed wetters would like to post with constructive comments/critisisms instead of the usual calls to sack people or to slag people off then maybe there would be less of a divide on here.
  7. I didn't renew my membership and don't post very often here nowadays. The negativity and misery that has grown over the years despite the fact that we are a well run club and have had a great 7 years is really depressing. Yes mistakes have been made but mistakes are made at every club. Sometimes you get away with them. Sometimes you don't. I find it hard to believe that people who have followed the club for a long time don't see that we are far better off than we were several years ago. Dropping down to the Championship then Div 1, administration, now those were things to get upset about. This used to be a dreadful place to visit when we lose but now it is just as dreadful if we draw. We beat Liverpool the other day in a cup semi final but you wouldn't know it judging by some of the posts on here! I am in the 51st year of following this club and in all that time we have only won one major competition. Seriously, what do people expect? We are not Manchester United. We are Southampton, a medium sized club who sometimes punch above our weight. The club has a business model that mostly works well for a club of our size. We are looking for sustainable steady growth and again, have maintained that position. If there is a levelling of this season it is not the end of the world. We finished 6th last year yet still people were calling for Koeman to be sacked. Crazy. I am not a happy clapper. I don't like the fact that we have lost 4 league games on the bounce but slagging off Reed and Puel isn't going to change things. It is not as if they are deliberately going out of their way to lose matches. I go into every Saints game hoping for the best but fearing the worst. I don't expect us to win every game but there are some here who seem to take it personally when we lose. At the end of the day it is just a game of football. If you cant find any joy in following this club, then why do it? That is what I cant fathom about the likes of Alpine and Batman. They seem to get their jollies by revelling in the negatives. It is so, so bloody depressing!
  8. Henry would disagree with you. He has only been here a few months. Do you honestly think that it is something that can be done overnight?
  9. But then relegation is on your mind all of the time Dalek.
  10. As has been said, the game is quicker and the players more technically adept now but it was very entertaining in the past. You do get more goals at the end of games now whereas teams used to play out time years ago. There was more room for players in the past. Now players receive the ball with two or three players on their backs. When I used to play the brief was not to pass to a man who was marked! You have to wonder how todays prima donnas would cope on the Somme like conditions of Plough Lane in mid winter!
  11. So we beat one of the strongest teams in the Premiership and keep a clean sheet even though some so called supporters were tipping us to lose 1-3 and it still isn't good enough for some. Perhaps they would be good enough to tell us how often a team scores from every chance they make. It was a brilliant result and we should be celebrating instead of all this if only crap!
  12. you really are a boring troll fact
  13. Whatever he is like personally, and God knows we have had a million discussions on previous Chairmen and their personality traits, the progress of this club speaks for itself. If that is not good enough for some people perhaps they are supporting the wrong club?
  14. You are still a very sad individual hypo. You were the one with obsession and used to follow me around on other threads as Fry's wingman. You are now picking on Always. If you remember I told Always that YOU were like herpes, impossible to get rid of. I see you are now using that jibe on someone else, as ever, showing a complete lack of self awareness!
  15. An unsubstantiated bit of gossip that you are happy to spread. Fonte has had plenty of time to refute the transfer request story but hasn't.
  16. Still plugging on with that old favourite "Gashton" routine. Come on Alpine, you have had plenty of time to come up with a "comical" name for Boufal by now.
  17. Unlike you to make knee jerk reactionary post without knowing the details. FFS.
  18. Duncan, you don't have to go to every match to see that the people currently running the club have done an excellent job over several years. You go to many more matches than I do. You will know that every season we have played brilliantly at time and poorly at times. This has happened under every manager and not just Puel. Under Reed's time here we have been a much better and well run club than for many years before. Again, it is not difficult to see and understand that from the warmth of my arm chair. The simple fact is that we are still a mid table team in the midst of a good cup run, something many were happy with before the season started. If this is meltdown material then I would be happy with it season after season. From your posts here I would say that you and many others seem to judge the state of the club on the last few games (we haven't been crap all season). Perhaps it is just that others see a bigger picture and understand that we do not have the means to operate and play like a top four club every week. In my 50 years we have only finished in the top 4 once. To be honest it was easier for clubs like us to finish well back then. Money didn't play such a big part in those days as I am sure you will recall. Kat Liebherr and Les Reed have come in for some ridiculous stick over the last few years yet we are clearly doing so much better as a club (big picture - not individual matches) and are working hard at sustaining our position. Even from the warmth and comfort of my arm chair I can see what they are working to achieve and appreciate it. Given a choice I would prefer that Les Reed and his team continue to do what they are doing and support them than back up those who seem to think that we in some kind of meltdown position. It would appear that many who go to as many matches as you do have a similar viewpoint so let's not diss an opinion based on an arm chair eh?
  19. "Bomb out of Europe?" Wasn't that the season before? This season I remember us being a whisker away from a last second goal that would have seen us through to the knock out stages in the last match. If we had bombed out surely we would have been out well before?
  20. Dont ake it personally. He needs someone to target and since I don't post so often nowdays he seems to have chosen you now. As I said before, he is like herpes and is impossible to shake off. As for the OP. Poor old Batman is clearly missing Pelle so has now turned his guns onto Reed and Puel. He is another one who is only happy if he has someone to have a pop at. I have been a Saints fan for 50 years and in all that time this is the most sustained period of relative success that I can remember. The last seven years have been fantastic in terms of growth and the people who run the club have done a great job. You only have to look at the likes of Leeds to see that we have been very fortunate. Even more so when you look at what SISU have done to Coventry City. And to think that there were many here desparate for SISU to take us over! At the start of the season many were saying they would be happy with mid table and a good cup run. Guess what, we are having a good cup run and are mid table. Yet still the knives come out. I recall many people calling for Koeman's head at the mid stage last season. Fortunately they didn't get their way. We are not Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea or Man City. We are a medium sized club who have found a good operating model that looks to sustain rather than go for broke. Prudent and pragmatic doesn't seem to fit some posters agenda but it is better than what we have had and it has worked so far. If you want the club to throw money at success then you are supporting the wrong club and your blood pressure will be better served if you went elsewhere. Personally I prefer Reed's "spin" to much of the wrist slitting crap on here. There is clearly an element here who seem to get some kind of perverted pleasure out of finding things to moan about. Many short memories I suspect!
  21. According to many on a certain Internet forum.
  22. Fabrics Fernandez and Anders Svennson
  23. But you said he would be gone by Christmas?
  24. Oxymoron?
  25. Does the score line really matter as long as you win?
