  1. Same age as me Whelk. His career ended at 28 through injury which was a great shame as he really was a quality player. Sounds like his life was pretty tough when he stopped playing too.
  2. Kevin Beattie has passed away of a suspected heart attack at 64. A great CH for Ipswich and excellent for England. One of those players I wished that we could have signed. RIP
  3. We will leave that to the Islamophobes amongst us, like you and your buddy Batman.
  4. Put as only you could put it Duckster. But yes, you would imagine that these pictures are taken and viewed mostly for sexual gratification. I could see that if someone posted sexually explicit pictures of someone on social media out of spite, that could be seen as a form of "hate" but as much as it is demeaning to women (unless they are happily complicit in the taking of the pictures of course) surely it can only be classed as a sex crime rather than a hate crime? The term "hate crime" is also becoming a catchall for all manner of things that don't really include actual "hate" and comes across as very Orwellian.
  5. Should it be made illegal? Of course. It is clearly a form of voyeurism and has no place in a civilised society. Should it be deemed a "hate crime?" Absolutely not. A sex crime it may be, but where does "hate" and "misogyny" come into it? Men have been trying to ogle women's bodies since time began and it has nothing to do with hate - quite the opposite in fact. How on earth can they try and dress it up as "hate crime?" Truly bizarre.
  6. What are you talking about?
  7. Tommy Jenkins great dribble at Upton Park in the 1-1 draw in 1970. Bobby Stokes in the final. From the angle I was sitting it looked like the ball was going past the post. Went ape when the net rippled. Rookie defender Mark Whitlock scoring the late winner against Stoke in 1982 in the classic 4-3 win. 3-0 at half time. Ex Skate Alan Biley led their fightback and ex Saint Dave Watson hit a screamer for them. Pahars late equaliser against Blackburn in the 3-3 draw at the start of The Great Escape in 1999 and his brace against Everton on the final day to keep us up all prompted mayhem amongst the fans. Tony Funnell's goal to give us a draw at Orient that virtually guaranteed promotion in 1978. The place went ape, the crowd surged forward and we were crushed against the retaining wall, which then gave way. Thankfully no one was badly hurt and I ended up walking off the pitch with the players at the end of the match!
  8. Your judgement of what constitutes a nailed on penalty is just as bad as your judgement of a decent striker.
  9. Me too. It is a pain!
  10. The original post pointed out that many people on here moan win, lose or draw which is 100% spot on. And given that you infect virtually every thread on here, it is impossible to avoid you.
  11. But it isnt though is it? It is a lot more than 3.
  12. I can. Sharing a cell with you, Batman and CB Fry would beat that hands down.
  13. If players aren’t getting any game time it makes perfect sense to loan them out elsewhere. It also puts these players in the shop window if it is decided they will not make the grade with us. What annoys me is when our loanees end up bench warming elsewhere and not playing. Defeats the object of the excerise. If the young players are good enough they get used. Those going out on loan clearly haven’t done enough to stake a claim in the 1st team squad.
  14. In which case I hope that his time was well spent. He probably also watched 45 mins more of the match than the voters on TUI poll
  15. Exactly. Benjii - in answer to your questions, I really dont know. Perhaps you should contact the Daily Mail? The reporter is paid to do a job. Does he care? Does it matter so long as he does his job and applies some kind of professional judgement? The issue is that he wont approach a game with the same bias against players than some supporters do. Shurlock - if you look at the ratings again you will see that not everyone is rated the same. Mo and Armstrong were given higher ratings and Gunn a lower rating. I mentioned JWP because that was the biggest disparity, but it is also true to say that some players get marked down because they are disliked, not because they play particularly badly. If you checked ratings like those in TUI with ratings in the media regularly you would know this to be the case - but then it wouldnt allow you to take your usual cheap shot would it, pal? Your view that the ratings in the DM are ******** is purely subjective by the way.
  16. Having said that a good cup run is important to us and that he will play a strong team, Hughes then makes 10 changes and puts out the B team. Luckily Brighton's second string is poorer than ours. If I was the manager I would want to work on my best eleven, not give fringe players a run out. Still, we are through to the next round and that is the main thing. Interesting to see the difference between some of the Daily Mail's player ratings and those of the supporters on The Ugly Inside, notably for whipping boy JWP. DM ratings on left TUI on the right. Gunn 6 - 7.1 Stephens 6 - 5.4 Yoshida 6 - 6.4 Bednarek 6 - 6.1 Targett 6 - 5.8 Davis 6 - 5.1 Romeu 6 - 5.6 JWP 7.5 - 5.4 Armstrong 6 - 5.1 Elyounoussi 6 - 4.9 Gabbiadini 6 - 6.1
  17. We are only 3 games in too. It hasn’t stopped the usual suspects from getting the knives out.
  18. Bizarre. You don’t have to be a “Les Reed plant” to appreciate the good seasons in which clearly everybody involved with the club should take credit. The dildo brothers have just spent £100m and have brought in a very experienced senior manager in trying to placate their fans. It seems to be failing. If that is what you expect him to do then there is no guarantee that it will work. He is not the only person in football struggling to keep the supporters happy although given the grief the board get on here every season that is clearly an impossible task.
  19. He certainly didn’t get any praise on here. I also don’t see how he can be blamed for Toby deciding he would rather go to Spurs than stay with us.
  20. So no credit when things go well (he was still getting dogs abuse when we were getting praised as being a well run club) but he gets the blame when things go badly. Sounds like he is in a no win situation. As for not winning anything, most senior managers of professional football clubs never win anything. Of course he is not immune to criticism, but let’s not pretend that he has not contributed to many excellent seasons - often in difficult circumstances.
  21. West Ham also have a nightmare 7 games coming up. Bloke on Talksport says they will be lucky to get 3 points out of 21.
  22. And for top ten finishes on the trot for which he gets zero credit.
  23. Gone by Christmas?
  24. Like you WC, I think that they are all nutjobs, but you have to be particularly screwed up to kill your mother and sister because of a religion. Apparently the police arent treating it as a terror attack (I never got that terminology, surely anyone coming at your with a knife, it has to be terrifying) but the point is that Batman has plenty of previous for jumping on murders and claiming they are down to Islam before knowing the full facts.
  25. Batman jumps to stereotypical conclusion. Just another day on an Internet forum.
