  1. Some players are labelled harshly it is true. But Yoshida is a liability.
  2. I guess we can look forward to Harry Kane breaking the record in no time then.
  3. Nice bit of patronising. And you wonder why people have a go at Americans? It is all there, in that one reply. By the way, why do you use the name St George? You do know it is the patron saint of Limey's, right? Now if you will excuse me, I am just off to report my neighbour for dropping recyclable cardboard in his rubbish bin. Shame I am not in America, I could shoot him.
  4. Didn't know that. Are any of them getting money from the State through other sources? I assume Charlie still gets a wedge from the Duchy of Cornwall?
  5. Jimmy Greaves and Gary Lineker both scored their fair share of tap ins and we used to employ a certain Ted MacDougall who scored more than his fare share from a yard out. A goal is a goal. Rooney has also scored more than his fair share of spectacular goals. I cant believe some of the comments on here. He may not be a likeable character but it is some achievement to score 50 goals for your country. Only in this country do we knock success so much. As I said before, if he played for us would the thread be so churlish? Would you not want Wayne Rooney in your team?
  6. Liz has been a consummate pro, so fair play to her. As for the other hangers ons, who needs them? The Civil List should be limited to the Queen/King and their consorts and the rest should get proper jobs. Also I don't get the tourism bit. People come here because of The Queen? They do know that she doesn't greet them at Heathrow don't they? Buckingham Palace from the outside is one of the least impressive buildings of any capital city. Surely people come here for the history, not for a glimpse of an old biddy in a dodgy hat?
  7. I was looking forward to this when I saw them plug it on The One Show but was very disappointed with the programme. I liked the BBC2 thing too but other than that, they seem to have lost their mojo.
  8. Would this be the same Andros Townsend that they have been trying to ship out for the last year?
  9. Thank you for answering my questions. Let us just hope that if there are any reprisal attacks that no one we know is involved. It is interesting to note that you would accept the loss of your loved ones as a price to pay for the drone attacks. Re no 4. Ok so you think I am being naïve, but there have been plenty of examples of so called intransigent factions ending up coming to the negotiating table for any number of reasons. It has happened all the way through history. It is not impossible and I think you are naïve if you don't see that situations can change. Clearly it isn't going to happen any time soon but it doesn't mean it will never happen. And yes, it may mean that some of the main perpetrators have to be killed in the process, I get that. But your language (again you use the word "crush") shows that you believe that we can just take them all out in one swift action and that just isn't going to happen. There are too many of them spread too widely.
  10. No I don't, if it can be avoided. I wonder if Sainsburys will work a drone strike into their Christmas ad this year?
  11. A bit like if UKIP got into power?
  12. Before Ramsey did away with wingers Charlton was an "inside forward." We used to line up with 5 up front 3 in the middle and two at the back (full backs) and the forward line would have to make a W formations with the inside forwards slightly behind the Centre Forward and the two Wingers. Our PE teacher used to stop the game every few minutes to make sure we were all where we were supposed to be. The Centre Half was in the middle of the middle three. Oh how things have changed!
  13. I am not sure I want someone as King who said he wanted to be Camilla's tampon.
  14. cr*p
  15. Which was my point. War was declared in 1939. I have never condoned their behaviour.
  16. Would this be the same Rebecca Brooks who knew nothing about phone hacking yet was sleeping with someone who did?
  17. You said my economic sanctions wouldn't work and maybe they wouldn't directly but perhaps there is a way of putting pressure on indirectly. You didn't respond to my point about arms. Here are some questions for you - 1. How much, if at all do you think that Desert Storm has influenced the growth of Islamic Fundamentalism and fuelled hatred toward the West? 2. How would you feel if as a direct reprisal of the recent drone strikes, terrorists set off a bomb that killed all of your loved ones? Is that a price you are prepared to pay? 3. Assuming your land war against ISIS is successful and you destroy the lot of them, do you think that is more likely or less likely to fuel further hatred towards the West by militant Islamists? 4. Do you know of any non violent methods that have been used already in trying to deal with any or all of these groups? 5. If there was no oil in the Middle East, do you think that the West would be remotely bothered by what happens there?
  18. We aren't going to win any trophies any time soon so you cant blame the media for finding something to crow about. If it was David Beckham everybody would be wetting their pants with joy.
  19. I have done already but I will do again before I put the oven on. Cutting off their weapons and munitions supplies. Cutting out their funding. There are two for you.
  20. I have to go and cook dinner for Mrs SOG now but didn't want you to think I am bailing out. It has been an interesting discussion but if senior diplomats cant sort it out we have no chance.
  21. I have already made my point but you have chosen to dismiss it which is fair enough.
  22. I think a part of the problem right now is that we don't have too many players who are streets ahead of the competition and pick themselves. A lot of the players you mention are very similar in ability. Rooney clearly gets the nod every time but as much as he is disliked here, the England set up and the pundits rate him. I agree with finding a team. Ramsey had the balls to leave out the likes of Greaves and Paine and played a side that worked together as a unit in a system that they understood. He didn't have the best players but he had a strong spine to the team and they were a team and all did their job.
  23. I am not an expert in Middle East affairs (clearly) but have we really exhausted all possibility of a non violent intervention? Have we even really started?
  24. I am not ignoring it, I am just saying it is unlikely to make our streets any safer.
  25. You say that like it is a bad thing!
