  1. I do not agree with this either. I have had problems with my ex. She remarried someone who eaens over £150,000 a year and still came after me for CSA payments even though I used to spend a fortune on the kids. Once the divorce settlement is done that should be it. You have to draw a line somewhere. If there are no children involved I can see no reason why the ex wife should not support herself.

Players come, players go. The trick is to replace with similar or better. If players don't want to be here I'd rather replace them with players that do.
  3. It is not as if he doesn't have a load of previous. I suspect that people know exactly what happened.
  4. Will the world continue to turn if Clarkson gets sacked? Not a great loss in the grand scheme of things. I am not sure what is worse - if he believes the things he says or whether he says things to get noticed. Either way a tw*t in my book. Do grown men actually buy his sh*t? I can see the appeal to teenagers.

We need to buy someone whose name we can pronounce and spell
  6. Interesting debate. If killing is wrong/evil, why do we have armies and train people to kill? Because there are times when social conventions go out of the window. When society breaks down and we go to war (or a state of conflict) although there are "rules" (the Geneva Convention etc) morality pretty much goes out of the window. Is the act of killing evil? There is an ongoing debate about euthanasia. Is it evil to assist a death of someone who is terminally ill? is it evil to put a dog down when it is in pain and cant be helped? Back to conflict. Is it evil to kill an IS member who has been cutting off heads of Christians? Would it have been evil to have killed Hitler? The act itself may be abhorrent but there are times when it can be justified under our moral code.

I hope he stays but he is a loan and you couldn't blame him for moving on if he gets a better offer.

  9. I worked with a guy for 22 years. We both worked our way up to senior management positions in the same office. As you can imagine we were mates and knew each others families etc. One day we were talking about infidelity and my colleague said if his wife played around he would divorce her. A few weeks later I found out that he was having affairs (at least two) with women at work. I found out because he told me and said if his wife ever asked where he was I was with him. I thought about this for a while and decided it wasn't on. I knew his wife and kids and didn't feel comfortable lying to her. I asked him not to use me as any alibi any more. From that point on he stopped asking me to go to the pub at lunchtime with him and a few months later I was made redundant and he and our overall boss had made the decisions as to who was going. I have not heard from him since. I cant prove it but I suspect that this bloke falls into this bracket. I have found out since that he took credit for many of the good practices that I implemented whist there. He has since seen off two senior bosses and now runs the show himself. I don't think he has ever put a full shift in and is very good at delegating and then taking all of the credit. When we think of evil we think of Hitler etc. There are however people who behave very badly toward their fellow man - they may not be evil in the sense we know it but they certainly are Grade A @resholes.
  10. Spot on. They pick up on things and use them to their advantage. because they don't feel in the same way as others there is nothing stopping them behaving in a certain way. Empathy, conscience - you can still have these and do bad things but at least there is a little voice inside telling you this isn't right.

  12. I would be very surprised if Morgan were to stay even if we achieved CL football next season. He says he wants to play for a big club. It will take a number of years of constant success before we could claim to be a big club. All we can aspire to is to be the best of the rest. Arsenal, Chelsea, ManUre, Liverpool, Citeh are well above us even if we finish higher than some of them this year.
  13. Priceless!
  14. Have you killed anyone? Seriously though, a good start is with empathy. If someone tells you a sad story can you put yourself in that position and imagine how it must have felt?
  15. Were they doing it because they thought he was a nice guy or were they doing it because they felt sorry for him and wanted to do something nice for him?
  16. We have been debating this for some time in the pub philosophy group. Whether people are born evil or become evil through upbringing. The programme is saying that some people do not have empathy (the thing that stops us doing bad stuff to others) and it is dependant on how they are brought up as to how they turn out. They will always be psychopaths but some will commit bad crimes and others will rise up the management ladder. These people may seem like they have empathy but they learn to mimic the behaviour. They will never understands how you feel because they don't know themselves. Quite scary really. I know a bit about this because I was married to someone with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. When you look at people like Pol Pot, Hitler, Idi Amin and Stalin you see it in its purist form. We are all damaged individuals to degrees but most of us have a moral compass that keeps us in check. Without that you have trouble.

  18. Really? Poch was a busted flush with us last season. If he had stayed we would have different players in the team - not necessarily better than those we have at present. As for CL football. It would be awesome to qualify but it would put huge pressure on the squad for next season. Perhaps baby steps are better. Build up to it via Europa.
  19. Playing for his boyhood club? Challenging for honours? Do you think he would have started more games for us? He nearly went to West Ham. Surely Liverpool has been a better career move?
  20. The first Mrs SOG refused to have rumpy pumpy with me when I started putting on weight. Horses for courses I guess.
  21. Are you saying that he spent too much time in the treatment room?
  22. Really? Wow. Lovely story.
