You wouldn’t like it Whelk. The conversation would be far too woke for your taste. 😉

Not surprising in the least, but pretty damning. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/nov/20/too-little-too-late-damning-report-condemns-uk-covid-response

We are where we are. I don’t think anybody imagined that the USA would become Russia’s bitch but until Trump either gets what’s coming to him or croaks we have to rely on the rest of NATO, just like everyone else. And I know that you don’t agree, but we should be more worried about the effects on the country caused by global warming in the next few years than being invaded by Russia.

I think his is somewhere in the middle to cover all bases.

What is al of this free stuff you are talking about? You sound more like a Farage shill everyday. It has nothing to do with “illegal immigrants” and net zero. You may not have noticed but things have changed a lot since the good old days of the Empire.
-
I don’t disagree. But blaming welfare and Net Zero is a stretch. Would you pay higher taxes for the military? People don’t even want to pay higher taxes for the NHS and public services apparently.
-
For someone desperate for me to answer his questions, you don’t seem in a rush to tell me which questions I haven’t answered.
-
Impressive leap to blame it all on welfare and Net Zero. Where were you for the last 14 years of Tory austerity where they were cutting everything, including the armed forces, back to the bone? Do you think too that Brexit has made us any better off either financially or security wise?

To be fair to WS, he did take the responsibility for the results. But as said earlier, it wasn’t him misses the many chances up top or cocking things up at the back. Although there are some weak areas, this squad is plenty good enough to be pushing for the play offs at the moment. If Eckert gets results in the next 3 matches it will not be unreasonable to ask why Still was unable to do the same with the same squad.
-
On the plus side he is multi-lingual (well, he has perfect Dutch anyway).

They were probably expecting Trump to man up at some point, given that the US are the only nation that could force the issue. They still hold the cards, as Trump would put it, and if the US pulls the plug on support for Ukraine, what can NATO do without the possibility of starting WW3? Putin only understands brute force and he knows that we (Europeans) are shit scared of escalation. That is why we can’t let this happen. He will only come back for more and he knows that he has Trump on his pocket.
-
That’s probably the kindest thing you have said to me Whelk. 😘
-
Spot on. The only “ambitious” name that has been mentioned, as far as I can see, has been Rodgers, and why would a manager of his calibre look outside of the Prem?
-
Why do you think Poland are worried, as are various other members of the former USSR? Estonia? Latvia? Lithuania? Moldova? Putin didn’t stop at the Crimea. What means you will think he will stop after this?
-
Really? It leaves Ukraine totally exposed to future Russian aggression and rewards them for their initial invasions into sovereign territory. It also gives Putin the green light for future action elsewhere. Do you think that European leaders would be happy with this deal?
-
Just in case there was any doubt that Trump is in Putin’s pocket. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15308713/amp/Trumps-officials-arrive-Ukraine-bid-force-Zelensky-accepting-peace-deal-heavily-tilted-Russia-hand-land-Putin-cut-military.html

Didn’t Arma say that they hadn’t given 100%?

Nic, Yes, once again, I do not read all of your posts. Yes, once again, I have missed some of your questions. Do I have the right to call you out for not answering my questions? Yes, absolutely as I assume that you have read them. You have not said that you haven’t. Sorry nic, not outed (again). The National Socialist Workers Party in Germany were far right, yes. Stalin was not far right, quite the opposite (ideology Marxism/Leninism). What were the other questions that I haven’t answered? I have asked you several times. I suggest that you take pingpong’s advice and take a rest.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?

If you find my posts that much of a struggle why bother to read them? If being anti Reform is being weird, bring it on. -
Trespasses - Channel 4 An interesting period piece (1975) based around The Troubles in Belfast. Those of a certain age will remember the fashions and hairstyles with fondness/horror. As someone who used to watch it all unfold on TV and only had to worry about hoax bomb calls at work, it gives a good insight into the quiet menace faced by everyday people, be they Protestants or Catholics, trying to lead normal lives in an abnormal world.

So apparently not all of the very rich want to leave Britain and avoid higher taxation. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm2wlznd33wo.amp -
Not heard that mention for a long time. Perhaps we sold that to Liverpool too? They used to make a big thing about having a constant, updated list of possible appointments in all positions didn’t they? This isn’t Ted Lasso and SR haven’t bought the club to destroy it. I am sure everyone from Dragan down is very unhappy about the direction of travel. But we aren’t the only club whose supporters feel have been let down by the owners, coaches, players. Getting the chemistry right is not easy, as we have seen for a while now. Everyone wants a quality, consistent goalscorer, midfield general, centre half goalkeeper and, not least, a manager/coach who can turn things around and make the club successful. Yep, stating the bleedin’ obvious. But we don’t have a divine right for these things and if we don’t achieve them, it doesn’t mean that the people making the decisions are making poor ones deliberately and aren’t feeling the same frustrations that we are. My hope is that SR use this season to get the club where it needs to be to not only make a good fist of promotion next season, but have the basics in place to stay up and thrive. Whether they will succeed, God only knows. But isn’t it all about the journey rather than reaching the destination? (Ok, desperately looking for a silver lining)

Things that are racist - Nigel Farage as a kid. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/nov/19/nigel-farage-allegations-racist-behaviour-school Apologies for posting the same link on two threads but it deserves the exposure on both of them.

Nigel, as a kid, racist? Surely not! https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/nov/19/nigel-farage-allegations-racist-behaviour-school
