  1. Redknapp never had any interest in us from day one. He always talked about us in the third person and in his own words did not know what he was doing here. He was given money to spent and bought the gifted Davenport and Bernard. Gee thanks 'Arry. And who will ever forget the infamous "thumbs up" to Mandric after the Pompey disaster? FF it seems. Oh yes and when we needed a goalscorer and he could buy Morrison (who at the time was total pants) what did he do? Threw his toys out of the pram and refused to look for another striker. I remember Lowe clearly saying at the time he was waiting for Redknapp to come to him with a list of players, but it didn't happen. As far as I could see Lowe did "let him get on with it" and a right bloody mess he made of it too, but you are not one to let your hatred of LOwe cloud your judgement are you Duncan? As for Matt, great player but lets face it, has the nous of a turnip after allowing himself to be used by Pinnacle. The only foolhardiness of appointing SCW was not letting him do his job. When we were struggling and in need of some help, what were we told? That because of 'Arry Woodward was not let near the 1st team.....well that worked well didn't it? Still, we are so much better off now aren't we?
  2. What would the reaction be if he pitched up for training in a tracksuit top with the initials ML on the front?
  3. Oh dear......
  4. Aren't some of our fans wonderful. Wanting the manager out after a couple of games when he hs the millstone of -9 round his neck and a crap squad. The same people no doubt who wrote Kelvin Davis off. Thank God they don't have a say in the running of the club. Who said the fans know best? As for clueless, he has forgotten more about football than everyone on here thinks they know. Give the bloke a chance, he is sussing out what he has. Takes time.
  5. Probably not far off the mark sadly. Too many weaks links, been the trouble for some time. Pardew will have his work cut out this season. Where is the strength? We are bullied way too easily. Oh for Stevie Williams or a Case.
  6. Would Cortese gone against STachan's choice of keeper and gonefor Neimi instead? Still, what does it matter? If he is successful he will get support, if not he will get the Lowe treatment...nothing changes...
  7. Or a recipe for success? Why should it be such a problem? If the right person comes along it could well benefit the club. No manager should have the final say on who comes and goes. The club has to be run properly and Pardew should have someone above him saying yay or nay.
  8. He said our aim was the play offs and he acheived that. But for a couple of moments of madness by players - not Burley - we would have made the final in his only fulkl season with us. We won lots of matches at home and away under Burley. Chelsea have spent a great deal more and are still not Eurpoean champions, spending does not guarantee results. We were in no danger of going down under Burley. 1.54 points per game, more than any other manager we had, but hey, lets slag him off anyway.
  9. Alan Brazil, who knows Burley better than anyone on here, says he is "not a boozer". Anyone can spout third hand rubbish and soon it becomes fact. Nick is right. Like him or not, he still has a better record than Lawrie Mac and Ted Bates and Gordon Strachan. The way he was treated by a section of fans is shameful. Still, if Pardew does not get us promoted in his first two seasons, expect more of the same.
  10. Don't get me going on this one....I remember only too well a number of well respected fans saying that they would rather us be relegated than have Rupert at the helm any longer. Frankly I would rather have anybody at the helm but still be in the Premiership, but each to his own.
  11. At the end of the day it is the Third Division, and that sucks marginally less than the Fourth Division!
  12. I think that some people thought that we would suddenly turn into a Chelsea or Man City overnight! This guy strikes me as a sensible, pragamatic businessman and if that means that we have steady, unspectacular progress over the next few years that is fine with me. As we have seen in the past, quick fixes do not work. It is going to take some time to get this club back where we would all like it to be and if people are going to get jumpy before the season has even started God help us by Christmas.
  13. Trundle by name.....
  14. Awesome!
  15. Many years ago when manager of England Sir Bobby was booked to come and speak at our club's annual dinner and dance. Despite only being a few days away from the World Cup and the fact that no one would have had a problem if he had pulled out to concentrate on his preparations, he not only turned up but gave a fantastic speech too - to a bunch of Sunday morning hoofers! A true gent and someone who will be greatly missed by the football world. RIP Sir Bobby.
  16. Lots of girls play footy in the US..odd to see but makes you wonder if it will ever be as big as baseball and AF over there as the kids seem to love it!
  17. Nooooooooooooooooooooo! It is actually pretty weird being away from all forms of home and sports news for 2 weeks. No TV, no newspapers, no internet..it was actually quite nice! Nicer still to come back and find we have a half decent manger in place. I expect someone will tell me that Gordon Brown has stood down and that Rupert Lowe is standing in until the next Election....
  18. Do they swap shirts at full time???
  19. Please don't joke about things like this, I don't think my nerves could stand any more turmoil!!!!
  20. Just got back after avery hot two weeks in Turkey and nice to read that we have appointed a decent solid manager. I just hope that the usual suspects give him plenty of time. He has a tough job and he isn't going to turn this club around overnight, but I'd like to see him stay awhile and get the job done.
  21. Nice to see another balanced and reasoned post....Pearson might get you wetting yourself Alpine but if Burley had finished the season with 3 wins in 13 you would have been in meltdown mode.
  22. Blimey you lot are easily pleased....3 wins in 13...awesome record huh? Yep, he did a good job at Leicester but we were within 20 minutes of going down under him and I remember lots of complaints about the standard of football. Decent guy by all accounts but let's face it, he didn't set the world alight last time did he? Someone new please.
  23. So long as he wins more than 3 games in 13.............
  24. Once again you completely miss the point. The obsession is yours. I don't stalk your posts but sadly I can't ignore them as they are there everyday, as welcome a a dog t*rd on my doorstep and as hardnot to step in. Normal people's perception of negativity??? You have taken it to a whole new level mate. No matter what happens next season I will bet anyone on here £20 that within weeks you find something/someone to home in on and attack. I don't look daft because I don't have obsessive agendas. LIke most normal fans I have views and I have opinions. I don't launch obsessive campaigns against people I have never met. I did actulaly put you on my ignore list for a while because you posts just fill me with dread and despair, but they kepy popping up in other people's replies to you so there was no missing them. Really, you need to try and read your posts as others see them. And take a look at your avatar too, it scares my kids and doesn't help people's perceptions of who you are. I note you didn't take up my offer then? Does that mean we are in for another seaosn of you shoe horning in attacks on people who are no longer a part of the club?
